Chapter 16: The Bedridden Prince's Protection

As soon as Liu Linlang finished her outburst, a resounding slap landed hard on her face.

    *Smack!*

Ji Yuntang mustered her momentum, grabbing Liu Linlang by the collar. Her hands became a flurry of motion, striking high and low, left and right as she rapidly raised her palms.

    *Smack! Smack! Smack! Smack! Smack!...*

The sound of slaps echoed incessantly. Liu Linlang's face, which hadn't even had time to fully recover from the morning's swelling, was now beaten to a pitiful state, even losing two teeth.

    "St... stob hittin' me..."

Ji Yuntang paid her no heed, only slapping faster, her hands becoming a blur of motion.

Matron Xu, reacting belatedly, was so frightened her vision darkened, nearly fainting on the spot.

Snapping back to reality, she immediately rushed forward to intervene. "Lin Lang! My Lin Lang!"

"Stop! Ji Yuntang, you vile wench, stop this at once!"

Seeing she couldn't stop Ji Yuntang, Matron Xu turned a fierce, venomous glare on the group of servants watching the spectacle and shrieked at the top of her lungs.

"What are you all standing there for? Hurry up and save my precious daughter!"

The servants were already dumbfounded. They had heard rumors in the morning that Ji Yuntang had beaten Miss Liu and even killed several servants.

But rumors were just rumors. Some simply didn't believe it. They had seen the newly arrived Princess Ye—thin and frail as a monkey, clearly without any martial arts skills. How could she possibly have single-handedly killed six strong, sturdy servants and brutally beaten Miss Liu?

But now, witnessing it with their own eyes, they had no choice but to believe.

This new Princess Ye was truly ruthless, showing no mercy when slapping someone.

The servants exchanged glances, hesitating. They felt they probably weren't a match for Ji Yuntang either.

"If anything happens to my Lin Lang, don't even think about getting your deeds of indenture back! I'll sell every one of you to the Southern Breeze House to become male courtesans, making your lives a living hell!"

As soon as Matron Xu uttered these words, the servants' faces changed one by one.

Their deeds of indenture were still in Matron Xu's hands. If they were truly sold to the Southern Breeze House, their lives would be over!

Thinking this, they hesitated no longer. Grabbing brooms and dustpans from beside the courtyard wall, they charged toward Ji Yuntang.

Chen Hu had long been itching with excitement. He found Ji Yuntang's way of beating people incredibly cool, and his own hands started itching along with hers.

Seeing several servants rushing at Ji Yuntang, Chen Hu shouted, "You grandsons, taste your grandpa's kick!"

Rubbing his hands together, he swiftly struck out. In two or three moves, he had hoisted all the servants up and flung them away.

*Thud! Thud! Thud!* The sounds of bodies hitting the ground rose one after another. The servants, like dumplings dropped into a pot, were all sent sprawling before they could even lay a finger on Ji Yuntang.

Matron Xu's face turned green with rage, the fat on her body trembling uncontrollably.

    *Pfft!*

Finally, she spat out a mouthful of blood, her vision went black, and she fainted.

Not knowing how many slaps she had delivered, Ji Yuntang's hands grew tired. She tossed Liu Linlang aside like a dead dog, then wiped her hands clean with a tissue. Skillfully, she took out a bottle of rubbing alcohol from her space and gave her hands a spray.

Chen Hu, seeing the object in her hand that could spray liquid with a simple press, was extremely curious.

"Princess, what is that you're spraying? It smells like alcohol."

"Rubbing alcohol. I just beat a dog, my hands got dirty, so I'm disinfecting them."

After saying this, Ji Yuntang tossed the remaining half-bottle to Chen Hu. "You can have the rest. Next time you beat a dog, you can also press it a couple times and spray it on your hands to disinfect."

Chen Hu instinctively caught it. Looking at the small, exquisite transparent bottle in his hand, he couldn't help but feel a surge of excitement.

The craftsmanship was simply too ingenious.

Could it be that the Princess made this herself?

It seemed everyone in Prince Ye's Mansion had underestimated her. Chen Hu increasingly felt that following Ji Yuntang was a wise decision.

He treasured the alcohol like a precious gem, storing it carefully. Then he went out the door to find a carpenter.

Matron Xu and Liu Linlang lay unconscious on the ground. Several servants carried them away, rushing outside to find a physician.

Ji Yuntang paid them no mind either, turning and returning to the West Courtyard.

Luo Junhe had already woken up. Though his eyes couldn't see, his hearing was exceptionally sharp.

Hearing footsteps, he knew it was Ji Yuntang returning. He gave a light cough and asked, "Miss Ji, it was a bit noisy outside just now. Did something happen?"

Up to now, he still wasn't accustomed to calling Ji Yuntang 'Princess Consort.' To Luo Junhe, it felt like a dream.

He was terrified that when the dream ended, she would leave!

Ji Yuntang didn't mind. Skillfully, she took two soft pillows from the corner of the bed and placed them behind his hips and back.

    "Did the noise wake you?"

"The servants of Prince Ye's Mansion don't seem to have much regard for me as the Princess Consort. My words don't carry as much weight as Matron Xu's flatulence. I've heard she is Your Highness's lifesaver. I've only been in Prince Ye's Mansion for less than two days, yet Matron Xu and her daughter clearly don't regard me with any respect."

Ji Yuntang didn't elaborate, afraid of displeasing him. She still didn't know Luo Junhe's exact attitude toward Matron Xu and her daughter.

If it was truly as Chun Tao had said—that Luo Junhe held Matron Xu in high regard, treating her like an elder to be filial to—then no matter what wrongs she committed in the mansion, he probably wouldn't blame her in his heart, right?

Luo Junhe's expression remained calm. "She is indeed this prince's lifesaver. When I was young, I accidentally fell into the water, and she jumped into the lake to save my life."

"However, since you have married this prince, you are the mistress of Prince Ye's Mansion. Even Matron Xu should not make things difficult for you. From now on, all matters, big and small, in the mansion shall be decided by you alone. Let Matron Xu assist you from the side."

Hearing these words, Ji Yuntang couldn't help but let the corner of her mouth curl up slightly.

It seemed Luo Junhe was reasonable after all. He didn't expect her to yield to Matron Xu just because she was his benefactor.

She lazily lifted her lips. "Prince Ye, if I were to say that I beat Matron Xu and Liu Linlang and also took back the stewardship of the household from her, I wonder if Your Highness would resent me?"

Ji Yuntang thought that once Matron Xu woke up, she would surely come to Luo Junhe to complain. Better for her to strike first.

    Luo Junhe: "..."

He knew his Little Princess Consort was formidable, but he hadn't expected her to be *this* formidable.

His first reaction was: Had Ji Yuntang suffered any disadvantage? Was she injured?

Though he thought this, words of concern stuck in Luo Junhe's throat.

He only said, "No resentment. You are the master, she is the servant. That is separate from her having done me a favor. If she offended you due to certain matters, then it is only right and proper for you to teach them a lesson."

"Furthermore, since you have married into the mansion, the authority over the household should naturally be handed over to you. This is an area where Matron Xu failed to do properly. You have done nothing wrong."
