Chapter 25 Who is the Little Fox Spirit with the Most Dresses
byChapter 25: Who's the Little Fox Spirit with the Most Skirts
Sneaking past the guards at the foot of Cangshan Mountain was nothing more than a wave of the hand for the Archdemon.
The Archdemon held Xie Huanxiang and tucked him into his cloak; with a blink, he was in the Demon King's bedchamber.
He had no idea what technique this was, but he kinda wanted to learn it.
Once he mastered it, he could run around and play all over the world, right?
Xie Huanxiang glanced around and finally spotted the Demon King sitting by the bed, head lowered, expression unreadable.
The man was tall and imposing, with fiery red hair half-tied behind a Vermilion Bird golden crown.
His sharp, handsome profile was lit up as he held the Ximing Mirror in one hand, stroking its surface with the other, lost in thought.
"You hide first," Xie Huanxiang said, turning around to forcefully shove the overly tall Archdemon into the wardrobe beside him. After whispering his instructions, he glared at the man.
The Archdemon's thin lips tightened as he pulled his hands and feet back, resisting the urge to stay away from the wardrobe.
Xie Huanxiang snorted coldly, then turned around confidently, tiptoeing toward the Demon King with the crow demon.
Inside the wardrobe.
What good place could the Demon King's wardrobe be?
The Archdemon's face was icy as he held his breath to stop himself from retching in disgust. But out of the corner of his eye, he spotted a red skirt decorated with Vermilion Bird feathers.
The skirt had an extremely narrow waist and still carried a familiar scent from whoever had worn it.
The man lifted the collar with his fingertips and found a few small stitched characters on the inside: Huanxiang's Feathered Skirt.
Looking around the wardrobe, it was filled with all kinds of robes and skirts—some sewn from the feathers of various feather tribes, others from fluffy cloaks made of different demon beast furs. It was obvious who they were meant for.
The Demon King's wardrobe held none of his own clothes, only the little fox spirit's garments—way too intimate.
Who knew what dirty thoughts that Demon King had?
The Archdemon's face darkened as he lifted a skirt hem hanging in front of him and brought it to his nose to sniff.
Then he sniffed it again.
Outside the wardrobe.
Xie Huanxiang crept forward and snatched the Ximing Mirror out of Wang Xie's hand. "Hey! What's wrong with you?"
Wang Xie frowned and turned his head. The moment he saw that strikingly beautiful face, his pupils froze for a second.
He quickly glanced at the tightly shut palace doors, then grabbed the little fox by the scruff of his neck and stuffed him into the bedding, wrapping him up like a burrito.
"What are you doing?!" Xie Huanxiang tried to squirm out of the bedding, but the man leaned over the bed and pushed him back in.
"Who told you to come back?!" Wang Xie lowered his voice, furious. "Didn't I tell you to stay put in the Liuyun Immortal Sect?"
"Why are you yelling at me?!" Xie Huanxiang's voice was muffled in the bedding, soft as a jar of shaken sugar. "I was just worried about you! Who told you to be so useless you can't even beat a World-Ending Demon?!"
This rotten Vermilion Bird was always bullying him.
The more Xie Huanxiang spoke, the angrier he got. He finally poked his head out of the bedding, only for the Demon King to crawl in as well.
"Don't talk." The Demon King covered his head.
Xie Huanxiang was about to bite him when he suddenly heard the palace doors creak open slowly.
Someone walked in, looking completely at ease.
"Fifty years apart, and the demon race still can't kick the bad habit of mingling with humans."
The thick bedding muffled his ears, making everything sound muffled. Xie Huanxiang couldn't make out the speaker's voice, and the overwhelming demon power pressing down on him made it hard to breathe. He could only cover his mouth and stay quiet.
Back then, Wang Xie's bedding hadn't blocked his ears like this, so he couldn't hear anything clearly. Xie Huanxiang grumbled to himself.
"Getting wounded by a sword from some Nascent Soul stage cultivator—aren't you ashamed?" Wang Xie sneered.
"Just a bite from a rat. I'll crush it when I step on it," the newcomer said casually. "I came to tell you some good news. Those old foxes from the fox clan couldn't take the torture and finally spilled."
The next moment, Xie Huanxiang felt a blast of demon power turn into a wind blade hurtling toward him. Wang Xie blocked it in front of him, swallowing the metallic taste of blood with a muffled grunt.
Even with his Vermilion Bird demon power, he could only neutralize seventy percent; the remaining thirty percent he had to take head-on.
The World-Ending Demon, along with Liu Wudao, was called a world-ending heretic cultivator because one cultivated the Asura path by slaughtering life, and the other cultivated the Hell path by refining living flesh and blood. Coupled with their extraordinary talent, their cultivation speed far surpassed that of other heretics. Even the Vermilion Bird Demon King, with his divine Vermilion Bird blood, was a step behind.
"How dare you let him go undercover alone at the Liuyun Immortal Sect? Do you really think I won't kill you?" The newcomer's tone was already laced with anger.
Wang Xie sneered, wiping the blood off his lips. "If you kill me, Cangshan will lose its divine blood protection and turn into a glacier. The fox den will be gone, and those colorful stones in the den will be gone too. See if he doesn't cry when he comes back."
"You'd better make sure not a single fox hair of his is missing," the man said, turning to leave as the palace doors slammed shut.
Xie Huanxiang crawled out of the bedding and sat on the bed, meeting Wang Xie's eyes.
His heart was pounding for no reason at all.
"Wang Xie, was that the World-Ending Demon who just came in?" Xie Huanxiang furrowed his delicate brows, his ears drooping. "Why does he feel so familiar? Did he visit my fox den before?"
Then he added slowly, "Is he going to make clothes out of my fox fur?"
Wang Xie leaned in, grinning darkly. "Yeah, he's going to the Liuyun Immortal Sect to catch you. Lucky for you, you ran back."
"That's why I'm so smart, right?" Xie Huanxiang snorted. "That's not what you were saying just now."
"Who brought you back? Rong Jue?" Wang Xie recalled the sword wound on that man's arm. "Going head-to-head with that guy—he's probably barely alive, if not dead."
"Senior Brother, he…" Xie Huanxiang's voice dropped again.
"Senior Brother this, Senior Brother that—so affectionate," Wang Xie said sarcastically, pinching his fox ear, only to have it slapped away.
"He came to help us!" Xie Huanxiang smacked the man's forehead hard. "Do you have any conscience?"
"If the humans really wanted to help, they wouldn't have sent just him alone, you know?" Wang Xie glanced at the messy strands of hair on Xie Huanxiang's forehead and reached out to fix them, but suddenly shot a sharp glare toward the corner. "Who's there?!"
"There's no one in the wardrobe! Stop looking!" Xie Huanxiang panicked and grabbed his sleeve.
Wang Xie squinted, staring at the little fox spirit's darting eyes. "How do you know there's no one in the wardrobe? Don't tell me you ran back and stashed some wild man in your wardrobe? Oh, I get it—he's the one who kissed your mouth red last time, isn't he?!"
Xie Huanxiang pouted, forcing calm. "Don't talk nonsense. I haven't kissed anyone."
"Hah," the man snorted coldly, striding to the wardrobe and kicking the door open.
The wardrobe was empty—no wild man, just a pile of wrinkled clothes stacked in the corner.
"I told you I didn't hide anyone!" Xie Huanxiang scurried over and crawled into the wardrobe, tidying the clothes while puffing out his cheeks and glaring at Wang Xie. "It's all your fault—you messed up my skirts." Wang Xie: "…"
