Chapter 52: Happy Little Meow
by 苏家小白Chapter 52: Happy Little Meow
Dad, Kind Uncle, and Chubby Brother all went together on a mysterious mission for Cow Cat Sheriff.
Little Meow was brave and strong; even without Dad by his side, he obediently went to kindergarten without crying or fussing.
Last night, he slept with Beautiful Grandma and Meal-Serving Grandpa. When he missed Dad, Suisui secretly wiped his eyes with the little fish plushie.
Baby didn't cry—Little Fish was just a bit thirsty, so he gave Little Fish some water.
The next day, before the sun could even warm the kitten's butt, Suisui couldn't wait to get up.
Little Meow counted on his fingers: yesterday was a school day, and after one more school day today, Dad would be back!
After a video call with Dad, Suisui was even more excited. He hugged the Samoyed, rubbing his soft, fair cheek against its furry belly.
Then he flipped over, flopped back onto the bed, and giggled nonstop, rolling around like a little round caterpillar.
In the morning, Beautiful Grandma and Meal-Serving Grandpa took him to kindergarten. At noon, they gave him a big bowl of beef and rice. After school, they picked him up and brought him back to the beautiful white house.
The cartoon "Cow Cat Sheriff" was on the huge TV screen.
Suisui sat cross-legged, distracted on the carpet, holding blocks in his hands, but his eyes kept glancing toward the door.
Beautiful Grandma said Dad and Uncle were already coming back!
BenBen also seemed to know that Suisui would be leaving soon and didn't want to part with his good cat friend.
The Samoyed lay flat on the floor like a furry blanket, belly-down.
It whined softly, nudging the kitten's soft belly with its snout, its tail drooping pitifully.
"Cat... miss you... let's go to the attic and change again."
BenBen's cat language wasn't very fluent yet, but Suisui understood what it meant.
Little Meow set down his blocks seriously, puffed his cheeks seriously, grabbed the dog's snout, and shook his head seriously.
He whispered softly, "Can't do that—it's daytime now, and Beautiful Grandma is washing fruit." He couldn't turn into a kitten.
The Samoyed's ears drooped, and it looked away with an innocent expression.
Not listening—the dog pretended not to understand human speech.
Seeing the dog wouldn't cooperate, Suisui thought for a second and sighed dramatically.
Little Meow's soft cheeks jiggled slightly as he said in a sweet voice, "Okay, last time."
Beautiful Grandma's house was huge, like a castle from a picture book, with countless rooms.
On the third floor, there was a small attic.
Cats are naturally curious, and it was hard to resist such a mysterious, cramped little room, especially with a Samoyed egging him on.
While Beautiful Grandma wasn't paying attention, the little boy and the Samoyed snuck out of the living room, sneaking like cats, and crept all the way to the attic door.
The doorknob on the attic door was installed too high; even standing on tiptoe, Suisui couldn't reach it.
BenBen used all its limited cleverness on this.
It stood up expertly, grabbed the doorknob with its furry paw, pressed down, and with a click, the attic door swung inward.
Suisui and the dog cheered together and slipped into the attic one after the other.
The door closed, and with a thump, Suisui turned into a kitten right there.
Little Meow's tiny hands and feet became furry paws, his snow-white fur fluffy and smooth like a small dandelion puff.
His eyes were wide and round, his pink paw pads tapped the ground twice, and his tail held high.
"Meow." Suisui swished his tail and called out softly to the Samoyed.
"Cat! Cat!"
The Samoyed immediately started grinning foolishly, excitedly chasing its own tail in circles, got itself dizzy.
After a while, it stuck its butt up, lowered its body, and carefully reached out its snout to touch the kitten's pink nose.
The cat was so small—had to be careful.
Suisui nuzzled affectionately against BenBen's wet nose, then leaped and buried himself in the dog's fluffy back fur.
When the Samoyed stood up again, the little kitten shook his head and straightened up proudly.
His short, cute tail stuck up high, and like a knight riding a white horse from a picture book, he stretched out his front paw to give commands.
"Meow meow meow!" Charge, BenBen!
BenBen let out a howl and charged forward with the little kitten on its back.
The attic was full of cardboard boxes stacked crookedly, looking like ferocious rat villains in the dim light.
Suisui puffed out his chest and meowed in a baby voice as he battled the imaginary enemies.
The bad rat villains bullied Kind Uncle, so brave little cat baby avenged Uncle!
The Samoyed charged forward, shaking its head and barking along.
BenBen was having too much fun and got too carried away; when it turned a corner, its paws slipped, and its body stumbled, crashing into the front boxes with a clatter.
The Samoyed braked abruptly and swerved nimbly to the side, just in time to avoid the boxes falling on the kitten on its back.
With a rumble, things from the boxes spilled out all over, and dust flew everywhere.
Suisui slid off the Samoyed and, with a thump, turned back into Little Meow.
Little Meow sat on the floor, still dazed, his hair messy and his expression blank as he blinked.
He rubbed his face; his clean face instantly got dusty, his nose smudged with a bit of dirt—he was completely a little dirty cat now.
The Samoyed knew it had done something wrong. It tucked its tail between its legs and whined softly as it came closer, its ears drooping pitifully.
"Cat hurt... dog is wrong, wrong."
"Not wrong, not wrong!" Suisui stretched out his little arms and wrapped them around the Samoyed's neck, rubbing his face into the thick fur of its ruff.
His soft baby voice comforted, "It's not BenBen's fault—baby is perfectly fine."
Suddenly, a small round ball rolled over to BenBen's feet.
The Samoyed’s ears pricked up sharply, and it immediately nudged the ball towards Suisui with its snout, wagging its tail as if presenting a treasure.
“Ball, for kitty to play with.”
“Hmm?” Suisui tilted his head, curiously staring at the gray, dusty ball by his feet.
He reached for the ball, and his tiny palm happened to fit perfectly around it.
The ball’s surface was covered in dust, slippery, and felt cold to the touch.
Suisui wiped the dust off with his cuff, and the dusty gray ball gradually turned transparent, revealing a shimmering glow.
BenBen tilted his head: “Awoo!”
Suisui let out a small gasp of surprise: “Wow.”
Inside the ball, something seemed to glow, shining brightly against the transparent shell.
Little Meow held the ball up to his eyes, examining it closely.
Before he could figure it out, a clear voice suddenly came from downstairs.
“Suisui, BenBen, where are you?”
“Daddy!” Suisui’s eyes lit up, and he immediately looked towards the attic door.
BenBen’s ears perked up, and with practiced ease, he raised his front paws to push the door open again.
Suisui casually stuffed the ball into his pocket, scrambled to his feet, and eagerly rushed out of the attic.
Running down the stairs, he spotted Daddy peering around the third-floor hallway, and Suisui’s face lit up with a radiant smile as he happily rushed forward.
Fei Yu bent down, scooping Suisui’s warm little body into his arms, leaning in to gently nuzzle the baby’s soft cheek.
Buried once again in Daddy’s warm chest, Little Meow’s lips pouted, and his eyes instantly grew teary.
Whining pitifully, he expressed his yearning: “Daddy, the baby really missed you!”
“Daddy missed the baby too.”
Smelling the familiar milky scent of the baby, the heavy weight finally lifted from Fei Yu’s heart.
After two days apart from the baby, he had missed him terribly.
Seeing the father and son snuggled together so intimately, Song Ji, who had hurried over at the sound, felt his heart grow incredibly tender, and a gentle smile involuntarily bloomed in his eyes.
Fei Yu’s eyes crinkled as he held the baby and walked towards Song Ji: “Daddy and Uncle are here to take the baby home.”
Suisui waved his little hands in delight: “Kind Uncle is back as well!”
Then, remembering something, he furrowed his little brows in concern, pursed his lips, and blew gently on Uncle’s forehead.
“Uncle beat the bad rats, so does your forehead still hurt?”
“It doesn’t hurt anymore.” Song Ji chuckled, stepped forward to embrace the father and son, and leaned down to nuzzle Suisui’s chubby cheek.
“With the baby and Daddy here, Uncle will always come home safe and sound.”
Fei Yu and the baby were treasures he would protect with his life.
*
Eight o’clock in the evening.
Suisui obediently transformed into Little Fish and was carried into the bathtub by Uncle for a bath. Afterward, he got dressed and changed back into his kitten form.
As soon as the kitten landed, he scampered out of the bathroom in a few quick steps, then bounded onto the bed without wasting a moment, snuggling up to Daddy to whisper his secrets.
The soft, gentle voices of the baby and Fei Yu wafted intermittently from the bedroom, as soft as a breeze.
The bathroom door wasn’t closed tightly. Song Ji, having finished dressing, stepped out of the shower, gathering up the family's clothes while listening to the father and son’s playful chatter.
It was the most ordinary daily topic, yet it was a hundred times more delightful than any company project update.
Song Ji himself didn’t realize that a smile had been lingering on his face.
He had just picked up the baby’s overalls to put them in the washing machine when his hand suddenly grew heavier, and a small, light ball appeared.
The ball had a transparent surface, smooth and cool to the touch.
Embedded in its center was a pearl, cleverly fitted so that it shimmered with a crystalline glow on the shell.
As his fingers rubbed the ball, Song Ji’s expression froze for a few seconds, then a slight frown creased his brow.
Was this a toy that his parents had prepared for Suisui?
Though it wasn’t small, the shell wasn’t sealed snugly.
If the pearl inside came loose, there was a risk of a small child swallowing it.
His parents, even if they hadn’t raised a child in years, should probably know that... right?
Song Ji looked skeptical, pausing for two seconds.
Just as he was debating whether to bother his parents about it, a soft, sweet meow came from the bedroom.
“Meow!” The kitten on the bed had been waiting for him for too long and was getting impatient.
“Uncle’s coming.”
Song Ji’s lips curled into a smile, and he casually placed the ball into the toy basket beside the laundry, planning to ask Suisui about it later.
He strode briskly out of the bathroom and caught the little furball that bounded toward his feet. Cradling the kitten in both hands, he went back to bed.
The man sat on the bed, gathering the big cat and the little cat into his arms, opening a picture book and beginning to read it aloud, word by word.
But tonight, both the big Lion Cat and the little Lion Cat were clearly distracted.
Usually, they would purr themselves to sleep halfway through the story.
This time, even after the story ended, they were still wide awake, their heads held high, purring and kneading him, their large eyes bright and alert.
Song Ji raised an eyebrow in surprise, but before he could speak, the kitten before him transformed back into Little Meow.
Suisui opened his little arms and dove into his embrace, wriggling excitedly, giggling uncontrollably and covering his mouth.
Fei Yu gave a soft meow, his paw pads pressing against Song Ji’s chest, his fluffy tail gently brushing the baby’s foot.
Baby, don’t forget now.
Suisui remembered, quickly lifting his head, grinning to show a row of baby-white teeth, and calling out in a crisp voice, “Daddy.”
The baby’s soft, milky voice was so sweet and soft that it seemed to gently brush against Song Ji’s ear like the softest tip of a feather.
Song Ji’s breath caught instantly, and he looked up dazedly at the person beside him.
Fei Yu beside him had also returned to human form.
The young man hugged SuiSui from behind, his dark eyes unblinking, innocently looking at Song Ji.
“SuiSui called you.”
It was as if he hadn’t been the one to give himself a new identity in front of the baby.
Song Ji’s heart surged with warmth, as if his entire soul was soaking in warm water.
His eyes stung, and he got up to wrap his arms around his two precious babies, whispering, “Daddy’s here.”
The two dads hugged the little cat baby from left and right, warm and cozy.
SuiSui squinted contentedly—the baby was now like the patty in a hamburger.
The corners of his lips pressed into two sweet dimples, and he joyfully announced to the world,
“The baby has two daddies now!”
The baby was very happy.
