Chapter 64: I Don’t Want to Hurt You
by 蓝莓星球Chapter 64: I Don't Want to Hurt You
At these words, Yan Huaixuan's grip on Shen Lian's hand slowly loosened.
But to his surprise, Shen Lian seized this moment to gather demonic energy in his palm and lunged at Yan Huaixuan.
Although Yan Huaixuan reacted quickly, he was still caught on the shoulder by Shen Lian's palm.
But Yan Huaixuan just pressed his lips into a thin line, and in one swift motion, he slipped something around Shen Lian's wrist.
Shen Lian suddenly felt all the spiritual power and demonic energy in his body disappear.
Shen Lian stared at the thing on his wrist—a jade-green bracelet with spiritual power flowing across its surface.
Chen Xue, who hadn't spoken until now, frowned. "This is a Spirit-Locking Bracelet."
As its name implied, it could suppress Shen Lian's spiritual power and demonic energy.
Shen Lian laughed, furious beyond words. "Yan Huaixuan, are you out of your mind?"
He was about to hit Yan Huaixuan when a voice suddenly rang out from outside. "Yan Zhenjun, the Sect Master wants to see you."
Taking this chance, Shen Lian tried to attack Yan Huaixuan again, but found his body completely frozen.
He instantly knew Yan Huaixuan had done something to him, and glared at him with murderous intent.
Yan Huaixuan avoided his gaze this time. He picked Shen Lian up and set him on the bed. "Rest well."
As he finished speaking, he sensed something was off—Shen Lian had actually bitten his own tongue.
Yan Huaixuan's pupils constricted. Moving with lightning speed, he shoved his fingers between Shen Lian's lips, and Shen Lian's teeth clamped down on his fingers in response.
A cold glint flashed in Shen Lian's eyes, and he bit down with all his strength.
The taste of blood filled his mouth.
But Yan Huaixuan just watched him calmly. "If this helps you let off steam."
Hearing this, Shen Lian found it pointless and let go. He was trying to get revenge, but Yan Zhenjun was treating it like a child's game.
Outside, the disciple called out once more.
This time, Yan Huaixuan answered in a cold, detached tone. "Understood."
But when he spoke to Shen Lian, his voice turned gentle. "I'm leaving for now. I'll be back soon."
Shen Lian's expression was icy. "So you're just going to leave me lying here?"
Yan Huaixuan pressed his lips into a thin line. "I can undo it."
"But if you don't want anything to happen to that little snake, wait for me to get back."
At that, Shen Lian's pupils constricted. "Shen Mo? What have you done to Shen Mo?"
"Nothing. I just put him in a spirit beast pouch for now. Shen Lian, no matter what you think, I don't intend to hurt you right now."
Yan Huaixuan knew that threatening Shen Lian would only drive him further away.
But he had no choice. He had no idea what Shen Lian would do if he left him alone.
He didn't look at Shen Lian's increasingly disgusted expression. Clenching his fists, he stood up and left.
The second he was gone, Shen Lian found he could move again. He immediately rushed for the door, but a gentle force pushed him back.
A frosty, snow-like aura radiated from it.
It was Yan Huaixuan's spiritual power.
Shen Lian clenched his teeth.
He couldn't get out—especially with Shen Mo still in Yan Huaixuan's hands.
Shen Lian's eyes went bloodshot. He could only take his anger out on the things in Yan Huaixuan's palace.
He smashed everything he could get his hands on.
Yan Huaixuan soon arrived before the Sect Master.
The Sect Master just wanted to ask if Yan Huaixuan's foundation had stabilized.
Xie Ren felt both relieved and worried. "Huaixuan, you weren't supposed to break through to Earth Immortal for another three years. This is a bit rushed."
Yan Huaixuan remained silent.
When it came to experience, he had far more from his past life than Xie Ren had now.
But given the situation in the small secret realm, if he hadn't broken through to Earth Immortal earlier, he wouldn't have been able to hold those cultivators back.
Xie Ren told Yan Huaixuan to take his time consolidating his cultivation, then changed the subject. "Huaixuan, have you disposed of the demon's corpse?"
Yan Huaixuan's face gave nothing away. "It's been taken care of."
Xie Ren nodded slightly. "Did you know that demon?"
Yan Huaixuan shook his head. "No, I didn't."
"But I heard that demon's name was Lian Song, and that you once met him on the Immortal Boat."
Xie Ren's gaze was sharp. "I heard you once asked Lian Song if he'd be willing to join the Tianheng Sect, praising his extraordinary bone structure."
Yan Huaixuan admitted, "That's true, but I only did it because I appreciated his talent at the time."
He paused. "It was also my mistake—I failed to realize he was the demon those people on the boat were looking for. I'm willing to take ten lashes of the Soul-Scattering Whip."
Xie Ren waved his hand. "It's not your fault. Demons are all treacherous and cunning."
Yan Huaixuan clasped his hands. "If Master has nothing else, I'll take my leave."
Xie Ren nodded, but just as Yan Huaixuan turned to leave—
Xie Ren suddenly called out. "Huaixuan."
"I know your talent and ability surpass mine. Even without joining the Tianheng Sect, you could go far."
"But I've always wondered why you picked me as your master."
Of all his disciples, only Yan Huaixuan didn't need his guidance, yet still improved at an astonishing pace.
Sometimes, when Xie Ren looked at Yan Huaixuan, he even felt a twinge of unease.
Back then, Yan Huaixuan was only at the Spirit Transformation stage.
Xie Ren continued, "I know you're not meant for the shallow end, but I still have to say it."
"Huaixuan, don't let a little romance wreck your future."
"You were born to walk the Great Dao."
This time, Yan Huaixuan did not reply to him, only saying, "Master, you've been grinding away at sect business day and night; you should get some rest."
Xie Ren watched his cold, straight-backed figure disappear and let out a long sigh.
Behind him, a withered phantom slowly took shape.
The phantom's eyes were a cloudy, dead white.
It stared at Yan Huaixuan's retreating back.
"The fate has shifted; the Celestial Radiance Star is dimming, Mars is bearing down, and Taichu is on the brink of disaster..."
A cold glint flashed in Xie Ren's eyes.
When Yan Huaixuan got back to the palace, he was met with a total mess.
Shen Lian sat there in a chair, looking completely unbothered.
Yan Huaixuan paused for a beat, said nothing, walked over, and gently picked Shen Lian up to set him on the bed.
Shen Lian stared at Yan Huaixuan. "What, wanna do it now? Where the hell were you earlier?"
Yan Huaixuan's voice stayed flat. "No, you're barefoot; walking on the floor could cut you."
Hearing that, Shen Lian's grip tightened, and he sneered, "Don't play the saint."
"Give Shen Mo back."
Yan Huaixuan checked his ankle, carefully picking out the porcelain shards, then healed it.
"Your wound hasn't healed yet. Until the demonic energy is flushed out, I'm not giving him back."
Shen Lian's face went dark. "Yan Huaixuan!"
"But I can let you see him," Yan Huaixuan said, watching the wound on Shen Lian's sole disappear, then opened his hand.
A shimmering screen materialized right in front of Shen Lian.
Shen Lian immediately spotted a small black snake curled up inside, looking totally lifeless and limp compared to its usual lively self.
Shen Lian snapped his head toward Yan Huaixuan. "What did you do to him?!"
"Yan Huaixuan, you psycho, it's just a kid."
Shen Lian had only taken Shen Mo in as a temporary thing, but over the days, Shen Mo had stuck by his side—it was just a young snake, usually sweet and obedient.
And now it had ended up like this.
Yan Huaixuan watched him go off like that over a demon beast.
His throat tightened, but he could only swallow it back down.
"Nothing much, just put it to sleep for a bit."
