    Chapter 21

    "How is this possible?!"

Everyone looked at each other, baffled.

Not to mention at Dark Star Military Academy, even at the Empire's strongest Capital Star First Military Academy, there had hardly ever been a case of an Omega with combat genes, let alone at S-level.

There were examples, indeed. Like the current head of the Genetic Research Institute, the gentle and beautiful Omega mentioned by Dodd, who was identified with both combat and healing genes. Yet, even he did not major in combat.

Given the physical limitations of Omegas, even if they possess combat genes, they usually aren't of a high grade, certainly not stronger than their healing abilities. Hence, apart from some who aspire to become Imperial soldiers, Omegas rarely choose to be combat-oriented.

    Queqiu was the exception.

According to the genetic scanner, his healing ability was zero, classified twice as a "defective" Omega.

But his combat capability was an S-level, rare even among Alphas.

Moreover, the scanner couldn't determine Queqiu's psychic level, only providing an unknown result.

Hans and several of his colleagues were dumbstruck, frozen in place for a long time before gradually regaining their senses.

Their first thought was: The genetic scanner must be malfunctioning.

It wasn't that the Dark Star Military Academy staff looked down on Queqiu, but there had simply never been such a precedent among Omegas!

What does an S-level combat Omega even mean?!

Even if it were an S-level Alpha, in the Capital Star First Military Academy, they would be among the top students in their class!

And this was at the Dark Star Military Academy!

Up to now, they hadn't even detected an S-level Alpha!

Not just the academy staff, even Queqiu himself was puzzled.

He remembered undergoing a genetic level test on the Aelius Starship. But back then, it only showed him as a defective Omega that couldn't pass the lowest level, not like now, revealing combat genes.

And what about the report mentioning S-level magical machinery and psychic power? What was all that about?

The staff were utterly confused, and Queqiu was no less bewildered. Both sides needed clarity, so they decided to conduct the genetic level test again.

However, the results of the retest were almost identical to the previous ones.

Now, everyone was truly at a loss.

After pondering, Hans left for a while and returned with two middle-aged men.

The one leading the way had a kind and benevolent appearance, with a gentle smile on his lips, exuding great approachability; the one following behind had furrowed brows and a stern expression, giving off an unapproachable vibe.

Hans entered first, holding the door for the two men, respectfully announcing, "Principal Geb and Director Yan Weili, the new Omega is right here."

Queqiu turned at the sound, and the staff in the testing room greeted the newcomers.

Principal Geb, amiable and without any Alpha animal traits, seemed to Queqiu to be a Beta. He greeted Queqiu with a smile, "Is this our only Omega student for this term? Hello and welcome to Sku Star Military Academy. I'm the principal, just call me Principal Geb."

Queqiu nodded. For some reason, he instinctively compared Principal Geb to Street Chief Yang. Though similar in age and demeanor, Queqiu felt a stronger affinity towards Chief Yang.

The other man was the Director of Instruction at Dark Star Military Academy, a Black Panther Alpha with sharp green eyes and black triangular ears atop his head. Despite nearing middle age, his presence was still commanding and energetic.

He and Geb were complete opposites, introducing himself concisely before turning to Hans to inquire about Queqiu's details.

Principal Geb seemed quite interested in Queqiu. He signaled the staff to leave, leaving Queqiu, Director Yan Weili, and Hans in the room.

"Too many people might make the little Omega nervous, is this better?" Geb inquired.

Queqiu didn't need such coddling and responded neutrally to Geb's concern.

"How is it?" Unfazed by the cool response, Principal Geb turned to Director Yan Weili, "Is the test result accurate?"

Yan Weili: "Yes. To be cautious, Hans conducted a second genetic level test for the Omega. Both results were consistent."

    Geb nodded: "I see..."

He looked at Queqiu again, smiling warmly, "You might not know, but even among Alphas, S-level is rare on both Dark Star and Capital Star. So far, we haven't seen an S-level combat Alpha in the new student intake."

Yan Weili added, "As an Omega, you indeed possess combat talents surpassing most Alphas. Generally, Omegas opt for safer paths like healing or command. For your safety, the academy recommends the healing track."

Qiu Autumn frowned, feeling a slight offense. Although he didn’t care about whether he had combat or healing talents, the subtle discrimination still made him uncomfortable.

He countered directly: "But as you've seen, I'm an S-class combat Omega with zero healing abilities. Logically, I should be recognized as a combat Omega."

Yan Weili solemnly stated, "But you're an Omega."

Qiu Autumn was puzzled: "What does being an Omega have to do with it?"

"Being an Omega, if you choose combat and encounter your heat during a battle without timely suppression, you could trigger all the Alphas on the battlefield to enter their heat prematurely. This could lead to a catastrophic disaster, potentially causing the annihilation of your comrades."

Yan Weili, annoyed, flicked his thick black tail, creating a sharp whipping sound in the air.

Qiu Autumn replied coldly, "I am a defective Omega. 'Defective' means I lack healing abilities, and my pheromones are undetectable to Alphas. So, you needn't worry about me being a liability to my comrades."

Yan Weili's green beastly eyes narrowed, his already stern expression growing more severe: "Omegas are naturally more fragile and petite, not suited for intense military training. Furthermore—"

"He sized up Queqiu, speaking disparagingly, 'You seem even more delicate than the average Omega.'"

"He seemed to imply that a delicate Omega like Queqiu, not crying and calling their parents to return to their soft featherbeds on the first day at school, was already exceptional. The idea of such an Omega opting for combat training, which many Alphas couldn’t endure, seemed absurd."

"Besides, Alphas in the combat department usually end up on the front lines after graduation. The battlefield is a place of bloodshed and death, constantly threatened by suicidal attacks from enemy species. It’s far worse than the harshness of Dark Star. How could these pampered Omegas, who can’t even handle a bit of extra solar radiation, face the threat of death?"

"War is not a game of playing house with dolls!"

"However, Yan Weili couldn’t bring himself to be so harsh in front of an Omega. His upbringing as an Alpha restrained him from making such cutting remarks, so his words were comparatively mild."

    "Queqiu was certainly not mad."

"Initially indifferent to his department choice, his goal being only the nutritional fluid, he now resolved to choose the most challenging combat department, provoked by Yan Weili’s stereotyping solely based on his Omega status."

"Queqiu met the intimidating gaze of the black panther Alpha squarely, asserting firmly, 'If the genetic scanner identified me as an S-ranked combat Omega, then it’s my natural right to choose the combat department. How I choose is my own prerogative, and I dislike others attempting to forcefully alter my decision for any reason.'"

"Queqiu’s bold statement left Hans, who was watching nearby, gasping in shock."

"That was Yan Weili, the 'Tyrant' of the Dark Star Military Academy, feared by all, even Alpha students!"

"How could he dare? Was it because he was an Omega?"

"Ordinary Omegas wouldn’t dare to confront Yan Weili like this; they would avoid him at all costs."

"There stood this petite Omega, not even as tall as the black panther Alpha’s chest, fearlessly opposing his daunting mental force field, returning it with equal strength."

"Queqiu concluded, 'You are offending me, Director Yan.'"

"Yan Weili, who had never been challenged by a student before and was used to even the most mischievous Alphas behaving like kittens in his presence, was infuriated by this seemingly soft and tender little Omega. His anger was ready to erupt, but the fact that Queqiu was an Omega held him back, repeatedly reminding himself not to lash out at an Omega."

"What kind of man would lash out at an Omega?"

"What kind of man would lash out at an Omega?"

"What kind of man would lash out at an Omega?"

"Repeating this mantra rapidly in his mind dozens of times, the normally temperamental black panther Alpha struggled to contain his anger, forcing himself to maintain a normal tone despite gritted teeth, 'Offensive? You naïve little Omega, do you think the combat department of the Dark Star Military Academy is a place for the faint-hearted? Go ahead and choose it then, but don’t come crying to us later, begging to change your preference to the healing department.'"

"Queqiu calmly responded, 'You can wait and see.'"

"As the tension escalated, Principal Geb stepped in at the right moment, smiling, 'Since it's a matter of personal choice, the decision ultimately rests with the little Omega. Director Yan's suggestion was out of concern, not meant to belittle.'"

"Yan Weili, arms crossed, folded his black triangular ears back and snorted through his nose."

"Queqiu stood at some distance from the trio, his face expressionless."

"Principal Geb continued, 'Then, the little Omega's path is thus decided.'"

"After speaking, he turned to Queqiu, his tone subtly encouraging, 'Now, could you show us your S-rank abilities?'"

"Requesting a song: Let's go to battle!"
