“Chapter 13: Don’t Kiss Others Recklessly”
by"Chapter 13: Don't Kiss Others Recklessly"
"Almost immediately, the last tear slid down the rabbit's cheek, forcibly stopping the rest."
"He was a bit afraid that Yi Yang was just joking with him, so he nervously fiddled with his fisherman's hat, his eyes earnestly fixed on him."
"Humans can lie with their mouths, but not with their eyes. Yi Yang had taught him this on the first day. Now, putting it to use, Le Yan stared into his eyes, determined to see if these windows to the soul would flicker."
"'You're staring at me like that because you want revenge for earlier?' Yi Yang lifted his hand to wipe off the tear on Le Yan's chin, perhaps out of consideration for his tears, leaned in half-shoulder towards him, 'Hit me if you want, but I still have to say what's needed. You're not a little girl, why cry at the drop of a hat? Men should not easily shed tears. For trivial matters like today, it's not worth it. Otherwise, when the time comes for real tears, they'll lose their value.'"
Leyan thinks Yi Yang is like a preachy old man; if you cover his face and ignore the voice.
How could a rabbit understand the meaning and value of tears? When sad, crying is a physiological response that the brain cannot control, nor should it. This has no direct connection to being a young girl.
"A man's tears should not be easily shed." This phrase sounds particularly cool. Out of everything Yi Yang said, this is the only sentence the rabbit agrees with.
He has already said he would return the letter. Leyan follows closely, visibly anxious in his actions, but not daring to utter a single word of additional urging.
In matters of verbal persuasion, Leyan has never won.
"And also... well..." Yi Yang suddenly turns back, furrowing his brows and hissing as if the words he's about to say are too hot to handle. He starts to speak several times, each time stopping when he sees the other's innocently naive face, and swallows his words back.
After a mental struggle, he finally finds the right words, saying, "You can't just go around kissing people with your mouth. It's not only strange but also presumptuous. It's only because of my personal tolerance. If it were someone else, you would have been hit by now."
"So you taking my letter, that's right?" Leyan mimics his lecturing tone, throwing his words back at him: "As a police officer, how can you just snatch others' belongings? That's not just bad, it's exceptionally bad. If I weren't afraid, you would have been hit by now!"
"These two things can't be compared," Yi Yang laughs, indicating that Leyan's threat has no intimidating effect on him. As he walks towards the bedroom, he explains, "Taking your letter is not the same as not giving it back, whereas kissing someone, especially a stranger, is considered indecent. Such bad behavior shouldn't happen even once. Do you understand?"
"I don't understand!"
The rabbit answers in a particularly soft voice, defiance being the only way he can vent his frustration.
Despite his anger, he has to admit that Yi Yang's every word makes sense. If one were to be more precise, the principle should also differentiate between genders.
The idea that men and women should not have physical contact unless appropriate. If it's between two men or two women, the same gender, it probably can't be considered 'indecent'.
That's why he kissed Yi Yang just now and might do it again if necessary. There's nothing inherently wrong with that action, and besides, Yi Yang himself said, what's there to fear among men!
"Don't understand? I heard you, no matter how quiet you are. Keep being stubborn. The day you really suffer because of this, you'll believe in it. A young fellow like you who won't listen to reason will learn only by hitting the wall."
"Starting to lecture again!" The rabbit glances at him and firmly puts the fisherman's hat on his head. Comparatively, he prefers Yi Yang in his police uniform, at least when he's busy at work, he doesn't have the time to lecture others.
"Yi Yang pulled open the bedside drawer and, using two fingers, picked up a neatly folded letter, handing it over: 'Here, it slipped out of the envelope when I was doing laundry today. Since it's so important to you, find a place to keep it safe, and don't carry it around.'"
"'Okay!' Le Yan rubbed his hands on his clothes, wiping the sweat from his palms, and reverently received it with both hands, a stark contrast to Yi Yang's casual fingertips."
"Le Yan was meticulous in his actions. After securing his reclaimed possession, he looked up to say thanks, only to find Yi Yang watching him."
"Le Yan was all too familiar with that look, nearly identical to the probing, assessing gaze in the interrogation room, except perhaps with an added hint of incredulity towards a fool."
"'Did you... read my letter?' Le Yan voiced his suspicion, furrowing his brows, his eyes a mix of emotions as he looked at him."
"Only a minority of humans can suppress their curiosity, but with billions on Earth, the majority cannot! What made Yi Yang part of that small group?"
"The only reason he seemed uncurious was that the letter's contents were no longer a secret to him!"
"Yi Yang didn't respond."
"He must be feeling guilty... Le Yan frowned, his tears nearly losing their value again."
"'Did you really read it?'"
"'Yes.' Yi Yang nodded calmly, his tone, behavior, gestures, and expression all natural and relaxed. 'I did read it. After all, it fell out from my clothing. I needed to check what it was, right? Besides, you didn't tell me immediately that you had lost a letter, did you?'"
"This was bad."
"Feeling nervous for the second time today, Le Yan raised his hand to his fisherman's hat, looking like a pitiful soul begging for mercy, fingers tightly pressed around his head, as if afraid his ears would pop out."
"He said, 'Not only did you read my letter, but you also thought of keeping it. Yi Yang, were you planning to use this letter to take me to the police station, or were you...'"
"'Do you want to know what's in the letter?' Yi Yang casually sat on his bed, arms crossed, watching the possibly trembling person before him."
"'I won't listen, I won't listen!' Le Yan repeatedly refused."
"Now, even though Yi Yang had read the letter, Le Yan couldn't open it. He knew that a human's last wishes are their most sincere, most hoped for, and most important."
"Yi Yang had read the letter, but it wasn't the reason he followed. The beloved Teacher Shen's every word deserved serious attention."
"'If you don't want to listen, that's fine,' Yi Yang said. 'It's nothing much, just some trivial family matters.' He got up, took Le Yan to the living room, and after some effort, removed the fisherman's hat covering his head. 'Look at you, sweating even in an air-conditioned room. Aren't you hot?'"
"Le Yan wasn't concerned about the heat. His mood had significantly lifted upon hearing 'trivial family matters.'"
"Combining Yi Yang's words with his expression, the rabbit was 100% sure the letter didn't contain any information about him being a rabbit."
"This meant that in this world, unless Le Yan himself spoke up, no second person would know he was a rabbit!"
"Yay!"
"The rabbit felt a great relief and even smiled broadly. So excited and thrilled was he that he didn't remember, in addition to being nervous and shy, his rabbit ears would also pop out when overly excited."
"White, triangular fur, pointed with a touch of pink, small and adorable. The left one, probably pressed down by the fisherman's hat, was half-drooping."
"And Yi Yang's gaze was fixed on this fluffy ear."

"Rabbit: Another day with surprises but no dangers."
"Yi Yang: Is it really so!"
