    Chapter 94: Shadow of Death

Given the magnitude of the situation, Ye Hong couldn't possibly let Ye Xiyao go alone. He left Ye Jingtian in charge of the mansion and set off with his men to follow her.

Upon arriving at the camp, both Ye Hong and Ye Xiyao were immediately stunned. The usually neat and orderly Iron Armor Camp was now surrounded by sickly soldiers, either leaning or standing. Others rushed about busily, while a nauseating stench filled the air. It was the hottest time of the year, making the smell unbearable.

Ye Hong's face darkened with concern as he stepped inside. The soldiers, despite their weakened condition, tried to salute the Old Marquis, but before they could straighten up, they vomited.

Deeply pained, Ye Hong quickly helped a few soldiers who had collapsed, then continued further into the camp. However, just a few steps in, he saw a group of sorrowful soldiers emerge, carrying stretchers. On each stretcher lay a young soldier, emaciated to the bone, their eyes closed, lifeless.

    Dead?

Ye Hong's pupils constricted. He hurried forward, and Ye Qingshu whispered from behind, "Marquis, these brothers were among the first to fall ill three days ago."

These young soldiers, all of them were talented martial spirit cultivators in the prime of their youth, full of vigor and robust health. Yet, within just three short days, they withered away and died tragically. If not for witnessing it firsthand, one would hardly believe it to be true!

Ye Hong's eyes reddened. For a moment, the shadow of death enveloped the entire Iron Armor Camp; even every breath carried the scent of Death's lingering presence!

Silence reigned, not a single sound was heard.

"Collect the patients' feces and vomit immediately, then transport them outside the camp to dig deep pits for burning. After burning, bury them with soil!"

Ye Xiyao's expression was resolute, her clear, cold voice suddenly echoed through the stillness of the camp. Upon hearing this, Ye Hong snapped back to reality and promptly ordered the stunned soldiers,

"Hurry up! Do as she says!"

Though Ye Hong didn't understand the reasoning behind it, he knew his granddaughter would never act without cause. With Ye Hong's support, the initially stunned soldiers sprang into action.

Following that, Ye Xiyao took full control of the situation and instructed that the recently deceased soldiers be cremated and buried deeply, using the same method as before. She immediately cut off access to water and food, forbidding anyone from touching them!

At the same time, she organized the barracks, separating the infected soldiers from the healthy ones. The infected soldiers were categorized into mild, moderate, and severe cases and placed in different quarters accordingly.

The entire camp bustled with activity. Fortunately, the Iron Armor soldiers of the Ye family were known for their decisiveness and remarkable efficiency. Despite the looming shadow of death, no one uttered a complaint. In no time, they had meticulously prepared everything as Ye Xiyao requested.

As Ye Xiyao implemented these measures, the soldiers in the camp gradually regained their composure. The entire encampment returned to its former state of organized discipline.

At this moment, Ye Xiyao took out a cloth to cover her mouth and nose, passing the remaining pieces to Ye Hong and Ye Qingshu. Then, she directly entered the nearest tent where infected soldiers were being housed.

After visiting three separate tents housing patients, Ye Xiyao finally let out a sigh of relief.
