by 霧矢翊The male cultivator at the Yuanchuang Stage grew even angrier. "You've been hitting me for so long, and you're still not done?"
Had he known those two were backed by such a troublesome Yuanchuang Stage demonic beast, he would never have attacked them in the first place.
One wrong move, and you’re doomed forever.
What made it worse was that he couldn’t even defeat these two demonic beasts. When they teamed up, they’d bury him alive and pummel him however they liked. If not for the accident that sent them tumbling into the Netherworld, he might have been beaten to death.
"Consider this a lesson—don’t hit women so casually in the future," Wen Tutu said, raising his fair, adorable little face with a grin, putting on a sweet, innocent act.
The Yuanchuang Stage male cultivator sneered. An ancient monster like him, playing the sweet kid—who did he think he was fooling?
Wen Tutu called out to the black-and-white furball on the ground, "Wen Gungun, let’s go! Sister and Brother Ning must be waiting for us at the Undying Sea. We’ll go find them there."
Wen Gungun swiftly climbed onto him, nestled on his head, and pulled out a spirit fruit pulsing with energy to munch on.
All the Ghost Cultivators stared at the spirit fruit, secretly drooling.
These Ghost Cultivators were originally highwayman ghosts. Hearing that Human Cultivators had appeared in the Netherworld, they had planned to strike first and capture a few to sell to the Ghost Kings. Never did they expect to run into these three terrors.
Two at the Yuanchuang Stage and a ninth-tier demonic beast—how could they possibly be a match?
In the end, they became Wen Tutu’s temporary henchmen, strong-armed into guiding them to Xuan Yin City.
Just as the Ghost Cultivator henchmen had said, they arrived at Xuan Yin City a few days later.
However, Wen Tutu and the others didn’t enter the city. Instead, they found a hiding spot in the wild mountains outside. This disappointed the Ghost Cultivators, who had hoped they would recklessly enter the city and attract the attention of the Ghost Kings inside, giving them a chance to escape.
Wen Tutu ordered the Yuanchuang Stage cultivator, "You, go into the city and scout things out."
The Yuanchuang Stage male cultivator fumed, "Don’t call me 'you'! I have a name—Wu Xiongan!"
Wen Tutu said, "Wu Daxiong, the intel-gathering is up to you."
Wu Xiongan immediately cursed in anger. Couldn’t he at least call him "Brother Wu"? "Wu Daxiong" sounded awful! Sure, he was burly, but he wasn’t some lumbering bear—hell, bears aren’t even slow!
Though reluctant, Wu Xiongan still went to gather information.
Wen Tutu and the others weren’t idle either. Wen Gungun was in charge of digging hideouts, Wen Tutu kept watch from a high vantage point, and the group of Ghost Cultivators acted as errand boys, on standby.
As night gradually fell, Wen Tutu spotted a group of Ghost Cultivators approaching from afar.
Narrowing his eyes, he said to the Ghost Cultivator henchmen beside him, "Go snatch that woman over."
The henchmen froze for a moment before looking over. In the distance, a group of Ghost Cultivators drifted closer, dragging a female cultivator bound by Soul-Binding Chains—clearly captured by them.
This group of Ghost Cultivators wasn’t particularly strong—only two Ghost Generals, while the rest were mere Ghost Runners. With their strength, dealing with them wouldn’t be hard. And even if they failed, Wen Tutu was there as backup.
So, the band of seasoned bandits charged over fiercely to seize the woman.
Before long, the Ghost Cultivator henchmen brought the bound female cultivator over and tossed her in front of Wen Tutu, fawning as they said, "Boss, mission accomplished."
Wen Tutu grunted, staring at the female cultivator on the ground.
"You?!" Yan Chuyao blurted, thrilled. "Hurry, get these things off me!"
Wen Tutu signaled the Ghost Cultivators to undo the Soul-Binding Chains.
Yan Chuyao scrambled up. Her clothes were a little worse for wear, but otherwise, she seemed unharmed—clearly, they hadn’t roughed her up too badly after being captured by the Ghost Cultivators.
"Kid, why are you here?" She recognized Wen Tutu as the companion of Wen Qiao and the others who had refused to trade rooms with her before, and eagerly asked, "Have you seen Brother Leng and the others? And Sister Wen..."
Wen Tutu pouted, "Nope, haven't seen 'em."
Yan Chuyao’s lips quivered, looking miserable as she whined, "Why is this happening? Why were we dragged into the Underworld? Could it really be that woman Wen Yi’s doing? Why would she do this?"
Wen Tutu keenly caught the implication in her words, "So our arrival in the Underworld was someone's doing?"
Yan Chuyao’s eyes flickered, and she gave him a flirtatious smile, "I won’t tell you unless you help me find Brother Leng... Ow!"
She landed on her butt, staring at Wen Tutu in disbelief.
This little punk actually kicked me?
Wen Tutu grinned at her with childlike innocence, "Sister, why are you looking at me like that? I’m just a kid—don't get so worked up!"
Yan Chuyao: "..."
Furious, Yan Chuyao pointed a trembling finger at him and scolded, "Y-you... do you know who I am? My father is the Lord of the Jueyu Valley!"
"Wow, how impressive!" Wen Tutu giggled. "Too bad he’s not in the Underworld."
Yan Chuyao was left speechless again.
Wen Tutu tilted his head, "What did you say earlier? I didn’t hear it. Say it again."
Yan Chuyao looked sullen. "I know why the spatial tunnel to the Underworld opened—it must’ve been Wen Yi! She’s always been sketchy. Even though she was seriously injured, she still dragged her barely-alive self to the Redbone River with us. It must’ve been her scheme to trap us in the Underworld so she could have Brother Leng all to herself..."
Wen Tutu put two and two together—so it really was someone’s doing.
That made things easier. As long as they found this Wen Yi and made her reopen the spatial passage, they could return.
Relieved, Wen Tutu no longer looked at Yan Chuyao with impatience, though he still didn’t think much of her—mainly because she had been hostile and sarcastic toward Wen Qiao before. Now it was his turn to be hostile and sarcastic toward her.
Yan Chuyao tagged along after Wen Tutu like a meek little wife. When she saw Wen Gungun returning from digging a hole, her eyes lit up. "Aww, so cute..."
Wen Gungun climbed onto Wen Tutu’s head and nestled there, not sparing her a glance.
They wouldn't give the time of day to anyone who treated Sister Wen poorly.
