by 霧矢翊The bracelet was entirely gray in color, cold to the touch, obviously a ghostly artifact.
Wen Qiao recognized it as the Ruyi Bracelet they had purchased in Xuanyin City, used by Ghost Cultivators for attacks. Though not particularly powerful, Ning Yuzhou had bought several at the time as he wanted to study ghostly artifacts.
"Husband, what’s this?" Wen Qiao asked.
Wen Tuti and Ning Jichen also examined the bracelet. After a moment’s thought, Wen Tuti called Shi Wuming over from the next room and, without waiting for his reaction, slid the bracelet onto his wrist.
"What’s this for?" Shi Wuming eyed it curiously. "Isn’t this the Ghost Cultivators’ Ruyi Bracelet?"
Seeing that he had no reaction, Wen Tuti turned to Ning Yuzhou.
Ning Yuzhou smiled slightly and said, "I’ve specially modified this Ruyi Bracelet. You can use it to attack."
"Attack?"
The group was puzzled. Shi Wuming glanced at the defensive formations in the room, then suddenly channeled spiritual energy into the bracelet. The Ruyi Bracelet rapidly expanded into a large ring, radiating a chilling yin energy—its power overwhelming.
Finally, everyone understood.
"It works with spiritual energy too?" Wen Tuti exclaimed excitedly. "That way, we won’t draw attention!"
When cultivators use spiritual artifacts, spiritual energy fluctuations are detectable. But this Ruyi Bracelet, though driven by spiritual energy, appeared to be powered by yin energy. Unless someone deliberately inspected it, Ghost Cultivators wouldn’t notice.
No one expected Ning Yuzhou could modify ghostly artifacts, transforming them into tools usable by Human Cultivators. The group stared at him in awe.
"Brother Ning truly is the best!" Shi Wuming cheered, opening his arms for a hug.
Ning Yuzhou looped the enlarged ring around him and said with a smile, "Don’t come near me in this female form, or I might just send you flying."
Shi Wuming shivered at his smiling expression and quickly backed away.
Next, Ning Yuzhou called Wu Xiongan and the others over, distributing one of his modified ghostly artifacts to each of them.
Naturally, this left Wu Xiongan and his companions completely stunned, once again questioning just what kind of monster Ning Yuzhou was. Not only could he refine pills and set up formations, but he could also modify ghostly artifacts—was there anything he couldn’t do?
"Brother Ning can’t give birth!" Wen Tuti snickered.
The group glanced at Ning Yuzhou, silently thinking: *That’s not necessarily true!* Who knew—maybe he could even devise a way for men to bear children? The thought sent a shiver down their spines, and they quickly dismissed such a dangerous notion. If Ning Yuzhou ever decided to research male childbirth, wouldn’t they be the ones to suffer?
Now equipped with usable ghostly artifacts, the group no longer felt constrained. If they had to battle the undead, they wouldn’t need to worry about exposing their identities.
This was precisely why Ning Yuzhou had brought them along—he wasn’t worried about exposure.
Ning Yuzhou was a busy man. After handing out the modified ghostly artifacts, he returned to his space to attend to other matters.
Before entering, however, he let out the little qilin, instructing it to stay with Ning Jichen.
Among them, Ning Jichen had the weakest cultivation, so Ning Yuzhou made sure to protect his father.
The little qilin, hearing its assignment, promised, "Don’t worry, Brother Ning. I’ll definitely protect Uncle Ning and make sure no one bullies him."
That night, the *thump-thump-thump* sounds returned.
Wen Qiao and the others went out to investigate but found only the knocking against the ship’s hull—though the knocks came more often than the first night.
This continued for several nights, with the only difference being that the knocking grew increasingly dense each time.
For cultivators, they soon grew used to the noise—nothing worth noting. As long as the undead didn’t emerge from the sea to attack, there was no need to pay them any mind.
After half a month of sailing, the three ships suddenly accelerated.
Seeing Ji Chengsi passing by, Shi Wuming hooked an arm around his shoulder and asked, "Young Master Ji, why the sudden speed-up?"
Ji Chengsi shrank timidly, still acting like a timid newlywed. "We received a message. The Ghost Cultivators who entered the Undead Sea earlier sent us coordinates, summoning us there."
"Did they find the Fallen Dragon?" Wen Tutu asked in surprise.
"Not yet, but they're getting close."
Hearing this, everyone exchanged glances, quietly marveling that these Ghost Cultivators actually had the skills to locate the Fallen Dragon.
That very night, as the three ships sped forward, they were finally attacked by undead creatures.
Chapter 416
Hearing the ruckus outside, Wen Tutu and Wen Qiao immediately stood up and rushed out.
Ning Jichen couldn’t even call them back and could only sigh helplessly, deciding to stay behind in the room. If everyone ran off, there’d be no one left to guard the place—in case of intruders.
The little qilin comforted him, "Uncle Ning, you don’t worry, I’ll protect you!"
Ning Jichen: "...Appreciate it, though I'm fine."
Next door, Wen Yi heard the noise and struggled to get up from her bed, slowly making her way to the porthole. When she leaned in, she came face-to-face with a ghastly green face.
Through the porthole, two pairs of eyes met—one cold and lifeless, the other dull and vacant.
SCREECH—!!
The monster outside suddenly opened its gaping maw and let out a soundless shockwave toward the person inside. Though the soundwave was tangible, it couldn’t penetrate the ship’s defensive formation.
Wen Yi stared blankly as the creature, unwilling to give up, crawled away and scaled the ship’s side. A long, slender tail slid past the porthole before disappearing into the darkness.
After a long silence, she gripped her sleeve tight and silently crawled back to bed, lying down with her back to the porthole.
——
"What are these things? They’re so ugly!" Shi Wuming gripped the Ruyi Bracelet, visibly freaked out.
Wen Qiao surprisingly agreed. "Damn right they're ugly."
Wen Tutu, never taking her eyes off the situation in the sea, replied without turning her head, "What else could they be besides those undead monsters?"
In the dark waters of the Undead Sea, all sorts of grotesque creatures were emerging—weirder than any spirits they'd seen before, beyond description. Most had slimy, fluid-like forms, bluish-black in color, with lidless red eyes bulging grotesquely. Their lips protruded, and when they opened their mouths, they could unhinge to their skull-bases, revealing rows of needle-like fangs.
