Chapter 19: Save on Phone Bills

After hanging up the phone, Tan Xing looked down and met the puppy's gaze, unable to resist rubbing his nose against the little one's round head.

"How about I call you Xingxing? Do you like that name?"

The puppy wagged its tail happily, and Tan Xing felt that it could understand him. Border Collies were indeed an intelligent breed.

    "As long as you're happy."

Tan Xing had taken the afternoon off from the boxing gym earlier by calling his coach specifically for the puppy's arrival.

This way, he would have ample time to bond with the puppy and help it get familiar with its surroundings.

Back at the apartment, with Little Fang's assistance, Tan Xing set up a luxurious dog bed next to his bed in the bedroom for Xingxing.

Then, following the store owner's instructions, he found a spacious area near the dog bed to place the puppy's toilet.

He only had to show Xingxing twice before it learned to use the designated spot.

"Good boy, so smart." Tan Xing praised the clever puppy in the same tone the store owner had demonstrated, offering a bit of meat jerky as a treat.

The little Border Collie dominated Tan Xing's attention and time, and he was almost inseparable from the puppy, teaching it various skills hand in hand.

"Master, wash your hands for dinner."

Tan Xing responded, somewhat reluctantly stroking the puppy's smooth back before heading to dinner. He made sure to place the puppy's food bowl near the dining table so he could see it whenever he looked up.

Aunt Song shook her head with a smile. The young master was still very much a child at heart, unwilling to leave the side of anything he liked, even if it meant skipping meals or sleep.

"Master, you have a flight tomorrow morning. Have you packed your luggage?"

Tan Xing snapped back to reality, realizing he hadn't packed yet.

And what about Xingxing? Who would take care of it while he was away? Maybe he shouldn't go; Xingxing was still so young.

Aunt Song noticed his concern and offered to look after the puppy during his absence, assuring Tan Xing that he could enjoy his trip without worry.

Tan Xing was still a bit worried, like a new mother leaving her child to go to work, filled with anxiety.

"In that case, Master, scan my code to add me on QQ. I'll send you videos every day."

At first, Tan Xing didn't understand, but then he remembered that QQ was a communication tool in this world, installable on a smartphone.

"Uh, okay, but I need to register a new account. The old one is no longer usable."

"That's fine. You can add me whenever you've registered."

With that settled, Tan Xing took out his phone and started fiddling with it, entering the app store and typing in the name before clicking to download and install.

Following the app's step-by-step instructions, Tan Xing finally managed to successfully register an account. His profile picture was a photo of the puppy he had just taken, and he named it Xingxing.

    "Aunt Song, I'm adding you."

After scanning the QR code, they became QQ friends. Tan Xing then explored the app's other features.

It turned out that he could make video calls through it, which meant he could see the puppy in real-time.

"Aunt Song, let's make video calls when I'm away."

    "Sure, we can do that."

After dinner, Tan Xing returned to his bedroom to pack his suitcase. He included a few jackets and shirts, along with underwear, socks, and shoes—enough to last him throughout his trip.

His material needs were minimal, and there wasn't much to pack, so he quickly finished.

The puppy curiously sniffed around the suitcase, almost trying to crawl inside, but Tan Xing swiftly caught it.

"Good boy, Xingxing. I'll play with you again when I come back."

Since his flight the next day was early, and considering the time needed for breakfast, getting ready, and traveling to the airport, Tan Xing decided to go to bed early to avoid being tired.

Lying in bed on his side, Tan Xing looked down. Xingxing was lying in its dog bed, looking up at him. Under the moonlight, its blue eyes appeared clean and pure.

    "Goodnight, Xingxing."

    "Woof woof."

As the sky began to lighten with the first hint of dawn, Tan Xing's alarm clock rang on time, pulling him out of a sweet dream.

Half-asleep, Tan Xing squinted his eyes, struggling to pull his clothes over his head. His hair stood on end due to static electricity.

Cupping warm water in his hands, he splashed it on his face, dispelling some of the drowsiness. Blinking at his reflection in the mirror, Tan Xing slowly came to his senses.

    "Master, come eat breakfast."

As Tan Xing walked toward the dining room, he caught a glimpse of someone sitting on the sofa, engrossed in paperwork—it was Liang Xigui.

    "Mr. Liang, good morning."

    "Mm."

Sitting down at the chair beside the dining table, Tan Xing hesitated for a moment before asking the person not far away, "Mr. Liang, have you had breakfast?"

    "Yes, I have."

    "Oh."

Relieved, Tan Xing could now eat his breakfast without further ado.

Fearing a delay, Tan Xing ate faster than usual, capping his meal with a glass of milk.

After refilling the dog food and water for Xingxing, Tan Xing gave Aunt Song a few reminders about their care before he felt at ease leaving with Liang Xigui.

His luggage had already been taken down by Liang Xigui's secretary, leaving only Tan Xing and Liang Xigui in the elevator.

"Mr. Liang, did you see Xingxing?"

    "Mm."

    "Isn't it adorable?"

Liang Xigui glanced at him, his response carrying an ambiguous tone, "Mm, very cute."

The curve of Tan Xing's lips widened, his eyes crinkling in a smile.

He didn't look like a man in his twenties; he resembled a naive high school student.

    Idiot.

This was not the first time Liang Xigui silently chided him internally.

Once in the car, Tan Xing pulled out his phone and began tapping away.

A while later, Tan Xing turned to look at Liang Xigui, "Mr. Liang, do you have an A-Q account?"

Liang Xigui nodded, and Tan Xing handed over his phone, the intention clear.

Seeing no action from the other party, Tan Xing explained, "You don't need to spend on call charges with this, just a bit of data from your plan."

This was something Aunt Song had just told him.

Liang Xigui was speechless, what could he say? Did he need to save on phone bills with the money he provided?

    "Mr. Liang?"

Liang Xigui took out his phone and scanned the QR code, applying to be friends with the other party.

Tan Xing quickly accepted the request, now having two people on his list.

Liang Xigui clicked on the profile picture, which was the recently adopted puppy, with nothing posted on the Moments feed.

    "Is this a secondary account?"

Tan Xing paused for a moment before nodding, repeating the excuse he used on Aunt Song, "I couldn't use my main account, so I just created this secondary one."

Liang Xigui acknowledged with a sound and put his phone away, silence descending upon the car once more.

Upon arrival at the Airport, the secretary got out first, pushing a baggage cart over.

After securing all the luggage, the secretary followed steadily behind them with the cart.

Tan Xing looked up, observing the structure of the airport, marveling silently at its advanced civilization.

After checking in and going through security, Liang Xigui led the way into the VIP lounge to wait for boarding.
