    Chapter 459: I'll Save You

    His body began to convulse.

At first it was just his fingers, then his wrist, then his entire arm.

The convulsion was like something alive, spreading through his body, uncontrollable, unstoppable.

    "Ugh... ah!!!"

He kicked his legs, his body arching rigidly, like a shrimp without its shell.

The way his body twisted was inhuman, but he no longer cared.

    It hurt too much.

It hurt so much he wanted to beg someone to put him out of his misery.

His back slammed hard against Yun Xunyu's chest, then arched up again, then slammed back.

The force of the impact was incredible—Yun Xunyu grunted but did not let go.

"My dear... my dear..." Yun Xunyu pressed his cheek against the top of Cheng Ge's head, his voice so hoarse it was almost inaudible. "I'm here... I'm here..."

    Cheng Ge couldn't hear him.

He couldn't hear anything at all.

All he could hear were the sounds inside his own body—blood rushing backward, bones shattering, organs burning.

The sounds were so loud they drowned out his consciousness completely.

Dark blood started gushing from his mouth in great torrents. The blood was black, as thick as ink.

It spilled from the corners of his mouth, ran down his chin, flowed to his neck, to his chest, leaving the blanket a complete mess.

Blood started flowing from his nose, his eyes, and seeping from his ear canals.

He was completely drenched in blood, his face beyond recognition.

    "Muyu... Muyu!!!"

Yun Xunyu frantically wiped the blood from his face with his hands, but the more he wiped, the more it seemed to come.

The moment he wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth, more surged out; the moment he wiped the blood from the corner of his eye, more seeped from the socket.

His hands were covered in blood, Cheng Ge's face was covered in blood—it was impossible to tell whose was whose.

Cheng Ge's body arched violently, nearly bending double.

    "Ugh—ah!!!"

That roar wasn't a shout—it was wrenched from his chest.

It was like something exploded inside him, blasting his voice to pieces.

His nails clawed frantically—digging into Cui Ji's hand, clawing at the bed, clawing at his own chest.

His nails tore his skin open, leaving it bloody and raw, but he couldn't feel the pain.

    He couldn't feel anything anymore.

    Only pain.

    Endless, unending pain.

He suddenly raised his head and looked at the people surrounding the bed.

    That gaze was horrifying.

His eyes were bloodshot, the whites entirely red, while his pupils were half-obscured by blood.

Yet those eyes were still bright—so bright it was shocking, so bright no one dared look at him.

Cheng Ge looked at the shock and panic written on everyone's faces.

He was scared. He didn't want anyone to see him like this in his final moments.

Cheng Ge's hand groped toward the pillow and found the dagger, and suddenly raised it, pressing the blade to his own neck.

    "Get out!!!"

His voice was hoarse, the blade biting into his skin, beads of blood welling up.

Zhou Zhan's scream caught in his throat, Lin Nanshu's hand froze in midair—no one dared move.

    "Muyu..."

    "Everyone get out!!!"

No one moved. Cheng Ge's eyes grew even redder, and he pressed down harder.

    "Get out—!!!"

His voice broke, as if he'd used every last bit of his strength to scream it.

Everyone's hearts ached as if pierced by knives, nearly suffocating, but Cheng Ge forced them to leave.

Zhou Zhan was shoved back a step.

He didn't want to back away, but he was being held back, forced to watch helplessly as Cheng Ge got farther and farther away.

Zhou Yinyun grabbed Lin Nanshu's hand. He struggled, wanting to lunge back, but Zhou Yinyun did not let go.

Cui Ji was dragged out, his eyes locked on Cheng Ge.

The hall doors slammed shut behind them.

But Yun Xunyu didn't move. He still held Cheng Ge, his hand slowly wrapping around the blade.

    "I'm not leaving."

His voice was soft, but every word was crystal clear.

"Wherever my dear is, that's where I'll be."

Cheng Ge's tears suddenly burst out, and the dagger in his hand fell to the ground.

The tears, mixed with blood and sorrow, streamed down his cheeks.

He was leaning against Yun Xunyu's chest, his body still wracked with violent convulsions, but he wanted to shove him away.

He parted his lips, broken sounds rasping from his throat.

    "Yun... Xunyu..."

Yun Xunyu bent down, pressing his ear to Cheng Ge's lips. Cheng Ge's teeth sank into his shoulder.

That bite went deep—so deep it seemed he wanted to pass all his pain onto the man beneath him.

Skin and flesh tore open, blood seeped out from between his teeth, soaking Yun Xunyu's robes red.

    But Yun Xunyu didn't stir.

He just held him, patting his back in slow, steady strokes, like comforting a child caught in a nightmare.

Bloody foam bubbled from Cheng Ge's mouth, mingled with Yun Xunyu's blood, impossible to tell apart.

He unclenched his jaw, his voice so hoarse it was almost inaudible.

    "Yun Xunyu... I hurt..."

His body arched up, then curled back in on itself, thrashing and trembling in Yun Xunyu's arms like a bug set on fire.

"It hurts... it hurts so bad..."

His fingernails raked across Yun Xunyu's arms, leaving bloody welts in their wake.

    "Just kill me..."

His voice faded, yet every word seemed to cost him every ounce of strength he had.

    "Yun Xunyu... please, kill me..."

His gaze was locked on Yun Xunyu, the light in them draining away bit by bit.

    "I'm... gonna die..."

Yun Xunyu's tears dripped onto his face.

He lowered his head, pressing a kiss to Cheng Ge's forehead.

    "It doesn't hurt."

His voice was so soft, as if afraid of waking something.

    "It doesn't hurt, darling."

    He kissed him again.

    "I'm gonna save you..."

His hands were shaking, but his voice stayed steady.

    "You're not gonna die."

He kept kissing Cheng Ge's forehead, over and over, kissing his brows, the tip of his nose, his blood-caked lips.

    "You're not gonna die, darling."

Cheng Ge's body still convulsed, but his eyes never left Yun Xunyu's face.

He stared at that face so close to his own, at those eyes so terribly red, at the tears falling one by one onto his own face.

His voice was so faint, as if carried from somewhere far, far away.

    "I'm... gonna die..."

    Yun Xunyu's grip suddenly tightened.

He pulled Cheng Ge closer, so tight it seemed he wanted to crush this person into his very bones.

    "No."

His voice was hoarse, but every word was wrenched from deep in his chest.

    "No, darling."

He lowered his head once more, pressing one final kiss to Cheng Ge's forehead.

"Don't be scared, I'm gonna save you."
