Chapter 80: “I Will Get Engaged to Chi Xingye in a Month”
by 糖甜宝贝Chapter 80: "I'm Getting Engaged to Chi Xingye in a Month"
Not only that, he also made it known around his social circle that no one was allowed to hang out with Chi Xingye.
Even though he was the fake young master, he still acted like the real deal at home, bossing Chi Xingye around and making his life hell at every turn.
Chi's parents finally hit their breaking point.
They stood outside his door, glaring at him with disgust, accusing him of holing up in his room all day, having turned into someone they didn't even recognize as their son anymore.
"Can't you grow up? Look at yourself—how far behind Xingye are you?"
"Did we even raise you?"
Hearing this, Chi Xingcun was crushed and pissed off. He refused to admit he was wrong, packed his bags, and stormed out.
He went to Fu Chenzhan's place.
In that moment, Fu Chenzhan was the first person who came to mind.
After his real identity came out, Fu Chenzhan's attitude toward him hadn't changed—still the same study-obsessed, work-obsessed Fu Chenzhan who never made a move on him.
He'd always been the one to go to Fu Chenzhan, and that didn't change after everything went down.
But Fu Chenzhan still comforted him when he cried.
Fu Chenzhan wasn't home, so he let himself in, flopped onto the couch, and cried quietly, soaking the cushion.
Back then, when he cried, the whole world would come running to comfort him, but now there was no one.
When Fu Chenzhan walked in the door, he rushed over, threw his arms around his neck, and jumped on him.
Fu Chenzhan caught him one-handed, like it was nothing.
Fu Chenzhan walked into the living room and set his bag on the table.
"I hate Mom and Dad..." he sniffled against Fu Chenzhan's shoulder.
"Mm..." Fu Chenzhan's voice was just as calm as always.
"They're not my parents anymore... they're someone else's..." His eyes grew even wetter.
Fu Chenzhan carried him to the couch and tried to put him down, but Chi Xingcun wouldn't let go.
"You hungry? What do you want to eat?"
That set Chi Xingcun off: "Why is food all you ever think about?! Who the hell wants to eat right now?!"
Fu Chenzhan had no choice but to sit down on the couch with him still in his arms.
Chi Xingcun lay against his chest, taking comfort in the sound of his heartbeat—at least Fu Chenzhan was his.
Time passed, and he was just about to drift off when Fu Chenzhan suddenly spoke:
"We need to call off our engagement."
In that moment, Chi Xingcun felt the world spin, his vision went black, and he almost passed out.
"What did you just say?"
His eyes, swollen from crying, stared at the man in front of him in shock.
Fu Chenzhan looked him straight in the eye, his voice as smooth as ever: "According to our ancestors' wishes, the Fu family has to marry a son of the Chi family. And you're not one."
"How am I not?! They raised me! I'm a son of the Chi family!"
Chi Xingcun scrambled off Fu Chenzhan, his damp, pale eyes trembling with pure disappointment and disbelief.
"Fu Chenzhan, you're the one who wants to end this engagement, aren't you?"
As he spoke, he tasted blood at the back of his throat.
Fu Chenzhan leaned back on the couch, completely still, his expression unchanged.
Not unchanged—just hidden too deep, so deep no one could ever read what was behind his eyes.
"I guess."
Those two simple words sent pain shooting through Chi Xingcun's whole body.
He almost passed out right in front of Fu Chenzhan.
But he didn't—because he was too proud to show weakness in front of someone he hated.
He walked out of Fu Chenzhan's place.
Should he have known Fu Chenzhan would change too? Because he was always so sweet to him one second, then completely cold the next.
His feelings for Fu Chenzhan had always been a mess—sometimes he even hated how calm the guy always was.
That night, he went back to the Chi house.
His parents didn't seem surprised to see him, just looked at him with annoyed eyes.
He felt like a damn rat.
Honestly, he didn't even know why he came back—he could've just gotten a hotel room.
At ten that night, as he passed the study, he overheard his mom's voice:
"Thank God he's not our kid—he's way too dumb."
Then his dad's voice: "Now that Xingye's back, we can relax. The company has an heir."
At eleven, he grabbed his bags and left again.
He checked into a hotel for a week.
He wanted to go find Fu Chenzhan again.
The day before, Fu's parents had texted him saying the engagement was off and telling him to stay away from Fu Chenzhan.
But he went anyway. They'd been together for over ten years—maybe it was all just a misunderstanding?
Fu's parents tried to block him at the door, but he still pushed his way into Fu Chenzhan's place, shameless as ever.
Fu Chenzhan didn't show up until three days later.
When the two met, it fell silent.
"Was it your parents who forced you?" he was the first to ask Fu Chenzhan, his eyes rimmed with red.
Would Fu Chenzhan ever treat anyone else like that? He didn't think so.
Because other than himself, he'd never seen Fu Chenzhan bend over backward for anyone.
So he refused to believe Fu Chenzhan actually wanted to marry someone else.
Just as Fu Chenzhan was about to speak, the sound of tires crunching outside reached them, and then Fu's parents walked in.
Li Meirong and Fu Xiao stormed in, glaring at him with undisguised contempt.
"Chi Xingcun..."
Li Meirong started to speak, but Fu Chenzhan cut her off.
Fu Chenzhan grabbed Chi Xingcun by the forearm, dragged him to the door, and said icily:
"Leave."
He yanked out Chi Xingcun's suitcase and shoved it into his hands.
Chi Xingcun wouldn't leave, staring at Fu Chenzhan with tears streaming down his face.
He said nothing, but his eyes screamed one thing: How could you abandon me?
Fu Chenzhan held his gaze for two seconds, then said flatly:
"I'm getting engaged to Chi Xingye in one month."
Chi Xingcun broke down, screaming as he hurled his luggage at Fu Chenzhan, then lunged at him, raining down furious blows.
Inside, Li Meirong and Fu Xiao advanced on him, their eyes cold and merciless.
But before they could lay a hand on him, Fu Chenzhan had already tossed him—luggage and all—into the car outside the courtyard.
In the car, he bit down hard on Fu Chenzhan's shoulder, certain he'd drawn blood even through the suit.
Fu Chenzhan pried him off and slammed the car door shut.
The last time he ever saw Fu Chenzhan was through that slammed car door.
......
He truly hated him with every fiber of his being.
Fu Chenzhan had never actually cared about him.
All his kindness had just been a byproduct of the engagement—nothing more than indulgence.
He hated him with a burning passion!!
Recalling this scene from his past life, he was certain Fu Chenzhan would never die for him.
So what the hell was Fu Chenzhan doing now?
"Say it! Just tell me why!"
Fu Chenzhan crushed Chi Xingcun in a tight embrace, burying his nose deep in his clothes.
He closed his eyes in bliss, cheeks flushed, a vein throbbing at his temple.
How long had it been since he'd last had this embrace?
This had always belonged to him.
His broad, towering frame caged Chi Xingcun in his arms, leaving the slender man with nowhere to run.
Chi Xingcun's soft, delicate fingers pressed against Fu Chenzhan's shoulder, but they couldn't save his own waist.
