Chapter One Hundred and Thirty-Six
byChapter One Hundred and Thirty-Six
The commotion caused by the group of werewolves was too loud, soon waking up the members of the Huaxia team. They emerged from their rooms to see what was happening.
Upon seeing the werewolves outside the castle, their first reaction was surprisingly: "Are these the legendary beasts? Can they be tamed?"
"Wolf knights, that sounds so cool!"
"I wonder if we can sneak them back to our country. Do we need to go through customs?"
Centuries ago, the number of fairies and monsters that fought with cultivators for thousands of years drastically decreased. In modern society, they are even rarer, with almost all wild fairies gone, leaving only a few small monsters nurtured by humans.
For example, the Fairy Maiden Sect where Pang He belonged cooperated mutually with the five immortals: Hu Huang, Bai Liu, and Hui Wu.
Hearing such discussions, Shen Wang instinctively replied, "Taming them isn't a problem, but what about the language barrier?"
After speaking, he realized that all these cultivators were well-educated and high-quality practitioners, except for him, who couldn't communicate with the werewolves.
Shen Wang: “...” Another day feeling inferior due to his illiteracy.
As they spoke, another series of wolf howls rose from outside the castle. They made no attempt to conceal their presence, effectively surrounding the entire castle.
At the same time, shrill screams arose from within the castle, creating a bizarre harmony with the howling outside.
The ordinary people in the castle were also awakened, leading to chaos before everyone eventually gathered in the main hall.
The servants, who were elegant and polite during the day, were now pale-faced, some with tears streaming down their faces. They either prayed with hands clasped in front of them or made the sign of the cross on their shoulders, muttering to themselves.
Shen Wang couldn't understand what these people were saying but could guess the general idea.
For these ordinary people without special abilities, facing such a situation, the only recourse was to pray to gods and buddhas.
Compared to the others, Bunir, also an ordinary person, didn't show obvious panic. His anxiety was only revealed by his pale face and trembling fingers. He tried to say something, but when he spoke, it was a rapid stream of English.
Shen Wang: "..."
Damn it.
Gu Dongting interrupted Bunir, his tone calm: "Speak Chinese."
Bunir paused, perhaps influenced by Gu Dongting's composure. When he spoke again, he was much calmer: "What's happening outside? Those... werewolves, why are they here?"
As soon as Bunir finished speaking, he realized he had misspoken. How could Gu Dongting and these foreigners know about something even he was unaware of?
But Shen Wang laughed, his gaze meaningfully turning towards Norris, who hadn’t spoken yet: "Why they have come... you don’t know, but your brother does."
Bunir was startled, looking towards Norris who was hiding behind him.
Norris had been injured on his face. After a hurried visit to the hospital, the doctor said it was just a superficial wound, not serious, and with proper care, it might not even scar.
Following aristocratic custom, even for minor injuries, they would typically stay in the hospital for ten days or half a month as a matter of importance. But Bunir knew that Norris had angered Gu Dongting, and he had to seek forgiveness from Gu Dongting before he left.
So, they just applied some medicine and Bunir brought Norris back to the castle.
Before going to sleep, Bunir was contemplating how to appease Gu Dongting, to earn forgiveness for Norris and restore their relationship... He had only slept for a short while when he was awakened by the howling of wolves from his uneasy slumber.
Now, Shen Wang was suggesting that those werewolves outside had something to do with Norris?
"Norris?" Bunir looked at his brother, calling out with confusion.
The next second, Norris burst into tears, his tears wetting the white gauze on his face: "I, I didn't mean to do it!"
Bunir's heart sank: "Explain clearly, what is your connection with these werewolves!"
Facing the crisis, Norris didn't dare to hide anymore and began to speak amidst sobs.
Norris attended a private aristocratic school, and because of his outstanding appearance and family background, he naturally became a leader among the students.
The elite education in aristocratic families is extremely strict. Under such pressure, Norris found his release in manipulating others.
Pretending to be friends with someone, then humiliating them when they felt flattered and grateful;
Dating men he was attracted to, and when they became deeply in love, he would discard them for the next one.
Norris enjoyed watching people's expressions twist from joy to despair, drawing strength from their pain.
Recently, he took an interest in a relatively ordinary man, but no matter how he flirted, the man just didn't get it and wouldn't bite.
Unaccustomed to failure, Norris, on his subordinate's suggestion, used an aphrodisiac and had relations with the man... The man, upon waking up, thought he had drunk too much and forced himself on Norris, feeling deeply guilty about it.
Norris willingly became the ‘victim’, getting involved with the man, and accidentally discovered that the man was a legendary werewolf!
Initially ready to dump his already boring boyfriend, Norris's interest was piqued again by the forbidden romance with a werewolf... But the young master's interest was always fleeting, and soon, he found werewolves no different from ordinary men, and kicked his werewolf lover to the curb.
As he spoke, Norris cried while sneakily watching his brother's expression, knowing that he had offended his brother's esteemed guest, Gu Dongting, during the day, and now, because of him, so many werewolves had come at night, surely angering Bunir.
Bunir's expression changed repeatedly, anger festering in his chest, making him uncomfortable. After a while, he finally spoke with a livid face: "So because you toyed with a werewolf's feelings, these barbarians have come to besiege us?!"
Norris mumbled a few times, too scared to speak.
It was Shen Wang who spoke for him: "Of course, there's more to it."
Bunir's face twisted, glaring fiercely at his own younger brother.
"I... I didn't think he would come for me, especially after I had already broken up with him," Norris said sobbingly. "I just didn't know how to deal with him, so I locked him in the dungeon..."
Even the astute Bunir took several minutes to comprehend the meaning behind Norris's words. When he did, he nearly fainted.
His angelic, adorable younger brother not only played with a werewolf's feelings but also imprisoned him in the dungeon when he came after him?!
Bunir gasped in shock. Looking again at the werewolves standing on two legs outside the house, he felt his scalp tingle, as if those sharp white teeth would burst into the castle and tear him apart any second.
"Quick... release him immediately!" Bunir, feeling weak all over, propped himself on the table to avoid collapsing to the floor like the servants.
When the werewolf Ael was brought out of the dungeon, his glossy fur was filthy, and he emitted an odor of having not seen daylight for a long time.
Dragged out by a few brave servants, he didn't struggle, only his eyes listlessly drooping, indicating he was still alive.
"Ael?" Bunir called out cautiously from a distance, his heart sinking like a stone.
Almost every ancient castle has a mysterious dungeon underneath, originally used to imprison and torture captives, now mostly serving as storage rooms. However, a small number of castles still use their dungeons for the same purpose as in the past.
Bunir hadn't altered the function of the dungeon, only sealing the entrance and forbidding servants from entering.
After being in the dungeon, which hadn't been cleaned for who knows how long, possibly infested with rats and cockroaches, immersed in darkness without a glimmer of light, no food or water... in just two short days, this werewolf had been transformed completely.
Looking at the haggard and disheveled werewolf, and then at the menacing group of werewolves outside, Bunir felt overwhelmed, unable to think of a way out of the situation.
After Ael was brought out of the basement, the werewolves outside began to grow restless, their howling becoming more frequent, as if communicating in a language incomprehensible to humans.
Suddenly, the seemingly weak werewolf Ael raised his head and let out a long howl.
This howl exploded right beside their ears, terrifying the ordinary people in the castle. Screams filled the air, and someone pointed a silver cross at Ael, praying incessantly.
Outside the castle, the werewolves quieted for a moment, then suddenly, after a few short barks, a dark wolf shadow broke through the window, stepping on the shattered glass, and leaped into the castle.
Soon after, the sound of glass breaking crisply followed, and more werewolves entered the castle!
Bunir and Norris, along with the other ordinary people, fell to the ground in terror, watching these huge, terrifying werewolves. Bunir gritted his teeth, pulled out a gun, tremblingly pointing it: "Back off! Stay away from me!"
But the werewolves merely glanced at him, then indifferently shifted their gaze away, all looking towards Ael.
The first black werewolf to crash into the castle, ignoring everyone's fear, walked up to Ael and spoke in a magnetic female voice: "How are you?"
Ael whimpered, like a little wolf cub seeing its mother: "I'm fine."
The black giant wolf lowered her head to inspect Ael, and after confirming he was unharmed, she raised her eyes to look at the humans in the room.
The humans in the room were clearly divided into two groups: one side led by Bunir consisted of aristocrats and servants, the other a group of dark-haired, dark-eyed foreigners, with a considerable distance between the two factions.
Unlike the frightened and panicked Bunir and others, these dark-haired, dark-eyed foreigners seemed not only unafraid but... even curious and excited?
The black giant wolf paused, her wolf eyes narrowing.
Ael also noticed them, and upon seeing one of the individuals, his pupils constricted: "Leader, please be cautious of these foreigners, they are superhumans, very powerful."
"Superhumans?" the black giant wolf repeated, then said, "Humans, this is our werewolves' vengeance, and it has nothing to do with you. We do not wish to be your enemy. Please leave immediately and do not interfere with our revenge."
Shen Wang, unable to understand their language, saw only a pair of wolf eyes fixed on him: "..."
Unable to resist, Shen Wang poked Gu Dongting's back and whispered, "What are they saying?"
And why are they only threatening him? Hadn't he deliberately hidden behind Gu Dongting?!!!
