    Chapter 93

After waking up from a nightmare, Jiang Yiyan sat on the bed hugging her knees for a while.

Everything that just happened felt so real, almost as if it had actually occurred, not like a dream at all.

Perhaps she missed her parents too much, which is why she dreamed about being with them.

After calming herself down for a bit, she managed to soothe her emotions.

Jiang Yiyan got out of bed and went to the bathroom to wash her face.

Feeling more alert, Jiang Yiyan continued her work from the afternoon.

After finishing her work calmly, Jiang Yiyan left her room.

Because Wen Mochuan's face was injured, he hadn't planned to go to the company these past few days. Therefore, he also needed to work from home.

When Jiang Yiyan came downstairs, she saw Wen Mochuan already there.

He was playing with building blocks with Meimei.

Hearing some noise, Wen Mochuan immediately turned his head towards the stairs.

In front of their daughter, Jiang Yiyan acted as usual.

But when Meimei ran off to play something else, Jiang Yiyan brought up yesterday's matter again.

"When are we going to the Civil Affairs Bureau?" she asked, speaking firmly, "Your company is yours, and the money you've earned over the years is also yours; I don't want any of it. My money and dowry are mine, and I won't take anything from you. So, there's no property to divide between us; we can just go to the Civil Affairs Bureau and get a divorce certificate."

Wen Mochuan still hoped to salvage things: "Yiyan, can you give me another chance?"

    "No," Jiang Yiyan replied decisively.

Her firm attitude left Wen Mochuan at a loss for words.

Jiang Yiyan continued, "Mochuan, we are both adults. You should know that decisions made by adults are not impulsive or emotional. Since I've said it, there's no room for reconciliation. I want to part ways amicably without making things ugly."

The more rational and mature Jiang Yiyan was, the more captivated Wen Mochuan became.

If Jiang Yiyan had always been like this, he thought, they wouldn't have wasted five years. Perhaps they would have lived happily together in peace and warmth.

But in the past, he hadn't appreciated his wife's goodness. Now that she regretted their marriage, he found himself feeling sad and reluctant to let go.

    Wen Mochuan felt terrible inside.

He wanted to continue trying to save their relationship, but seeing his wife's determined gaze, he feared that persisting might backfire. After weighing his options, Wen Mochuan reluctantly nodded, "Okay."

Seeing him finally agree, Jiang Yiyan felt a sense of relief.

"Since you agree, let's do it today," Jiang Yiyan didn't want to delay further.

    Delaying might lead to complications.

Wen Mochuan glanced at her again, saying nothing.

But Jiang Yiyan suddenly remembered something... Her eyes lingered on the injury on Wen Mochuan's face, and she changed her mind.

    "Wait until your injury heals."

Forcing him to go to the Civil Affairs Bureau with an injury seemed too harsh.

She stood up, "But I will move out these next few days."

With several properties under her name, she could easily move into any one of them.

Two months had passed, and she increasingly felt that the original owner might not return.

    Neither could she go back.

Having gradually adapted to life here and made a few friends, she decided to accept reality and start living properly here.

But then she remembered the vivid dream she had during her nap. She missed her parents.

Since she had made up her mind to divorce, she didn't want to drag things out. She intended to completely sever ties with the past, or rather, with a life that wasn't hers.

In the past, although she had been cold towards Wen Mochuan, she didn't resist his advances. But now, she clearly kept her distance, and firmly so.

After discussing the matter, Jiang Yiyan quickly left.

She preferred helping Feng Ma in the kitchen or playing with Meimei rather than staying close to Wen Mochuan.

This relationship felt like it had returned to how it was two months ago when she first arrived.

"In a couple of days, I'll be leaving," Jiang Yiyan directly informed the other two members of the household once she entered the kitchen.

Feng Ma and Fang Fang were unaware of the divorce and continued with their tasks, asking casually, "Are you going on a business trip?"

Jiang Yiyan shook her head, "No," she said, "I'm moving out and won't be coming back."

"Ah?" Fang Fang was surprised and turned to look at Jiang Yiyan.

Feng Ma stopped what she was doing and approached Jiang Yiyan with a serious expression.

"Do you mean... you're having a disagreement?" Feng Ma asked with concern.

In the original story, Feng Ma cared deeply for Jiang Yiyan. Even when the previous Jiang Yiyan caused chaos in the household and was misunderstood and disliked by everyone, she still cared for her.

The original body's mother passed away early, and it was this Feng Ma who gave the original body a bit of maternal love.

Therefore, in the original book, Jiang Yiyan would occasionally reveal her vulnerable and sorrowful side only in front of this Feng Ma.

She would also occasionally listen to Feng Ma's advice.

"There wasn't an argument." Jiang Yiyan was in good spirits and mood. "It's just... perhaps we were wrong from the beginning. Since it was wrong from the start, it's better to part ways amicably and let each other go early."

Feng Ma said sternly, "Divorce is no small matter. Have you thought it through? Does your father know? What about Meimei?"

"My father knows. As for Meimei..." Jiang Yiyan knew she wasn't actually Meimei's mother, so she felt a bit embarrassed about competing with Wen Mochuan for custody.

Seeing her hesitation, Feng Ma added, "When you two used to argue all the time, you never mentioned divorce. Why now that things have improved do you want to get divorced?"

Jiang Yiyan replied, "We used to argue because we loved each other. Now that we don't argue anymore, it's because we don't love each other anymore. Naturally, we should get divorced."

    Feng Ma: "..."

"Young people these days, I just don't understand you anymore," Feng Ma muttered.

She thought they were both good kids, and it was truly a pity they were getting divorced.

Fang Fang noticed Jiang Yiyan's determination and subtly signaled Feng Ma not to say more.

Feng Ma pursed her lips and didn't say anything else.

But after turning around to continue her work, she sighed deeply.

"Mommy!" At that moment, Meimei ran over and rubbed against Jiang Yiyan's legs. "Mommy, play with me."

Feeling this, Jiang Yiyan's heart softened. She bent down and squatted in front of Meimei, seriously explaining the situation.

"Meimei, Mommy will be moving out in a few days and won't live here anymore."

Meimei, not understanding the complexities of adult life, was curious about her mother's words. "Where is Mommy moving? Will you come back?"

Jiang Yiyan replied, "If there isn't anything particularly urgent, I won't come back."

"Never come back?" Meimei suddenly realized the crisis and started to get nervous.

Seeing her about to cry, Jiang Yiyan couldn't bear it. She tightly held her little hand and asked, "Does Meimei want to go with Mommy?"

Hearing that Mommy would take her along, Meimei immediately smiled again.

Her eyes were already filled with tears, misty and wet, but her face was now full of joy. This kind of laughing while crying could only be done by such an innocent child.

"I want to go live outside with Mommy too." Meimei snuggled into her mother's arms, her warm and soft presence melting hearts. "Wherever Mommy goes, Meimei will follow."

Although the child wasn't hers, she hadn't experienced the pain of pregnancy or childbirth, and had only been with Meimei for two months, which wasn't long.

However, in those two months, she had accompanied her as a mother, developing a unique bond.

She seemed to be increasingly treating Meimei as her own daughter.

So, she was determined to compete with Wen Mochuan for custody.

With this in mind, Jiang Yiyan told Meimei to play on her own for a while.

"It's almost time for school to start. After starting school, Meimei will be in the middle class." Thinking about slowly watching a child grow up was a kind of happiness.

Thinking about going back to school and seeing her classmates, Meimei was very happy.

Meimei happily played with her toys, while Jiang Yiyan walked over to Wen Mochuan.

"I want Meimei," Jiang Yiyan said straightforwardly.

Wen Mochuan didn't say anything. After a moment of silence, he agreed without contesting.

"She's getting closer to you now. I know you can take good care of her, and I'm at ease letting her stay with you," Wen Mochuan said.

This was quite unexpected for Jiang Yiyan.

According to the book, Wen Mochuan treated Meimei as his life. She originally thought he wouldn't easily give up custody of Meimei. But unexpectedly, he agreed after a brief consideration.

    That was good.

His quick agreement saved her the trouble of further persuasion.

But Wen Mochuan not only gave Jiang Yiyan their daughter; he also planned to let her take Feng Ma and Fang Fang with her.

"Since Meimei was born, Feng Ma has been taking care of her. Meimei is already accustomed to Feng Ma. If you find someone else later, they won't be as good as Feng Ma. So, take both Feng Ma and Fang Fang with you."

    While unexpected, this made sense.

If Meimei went with her, it was reasonable for Wen Mochuan to let Feng Ma and Fang Fang go with her.

    "Okay," Jiang Yiyan agreed readily.

"However, they'll need to stay with you for a few days. Give me a few days. Although I have a house, I've never lived there before, so it needs cleaning and airing out. It might take... at most a week."

"No rush," Wen Mochuan wished it could be even longer.

So, Wen Mochuan suggested, "Stay here for another week. If you leave right away, Meimei won't be used to it."

Jiang Yiyan wasn't being stubborn and insisted on leaving immediately, so she readily agreed.

"I'll try to move out within a week."
