When Xia Qi reached the stairs leading to the ship, the guiding song suddenly turned melancholic. The man sang softly, his tone becoming sorrowful, like raindrops falling gently onto Xia Qi's heart.

Following the song's ups and downs, Xia Qi's mood sank, and the man's voice seemed filled with unresolvable sorrow, causing his heart to ache.

Xia Qi wished he could reach out and soothe his sadness.

Just as it was about to touch the box in Xia Qi's hand, a puff of smoke rose beside him, coalescing into a dense shadow. Eventually, the shadow solidified into a tall figure with a human torso and a fish tail.

As the tentacle was about to touch Xia Qi's fingers, the shadow extended its five fingers, the claws growing rapidly. Then, it raised its hand and slashed fiercely at the tentacle!

Squish—

A disgusting sound like pork skin being cut echoed, and the tentacle, unable even to twitch, was severed by the merman's hand!

After the tentacle was cut, the creature outside let out a terrible scream, wailing as it retracted the remaining part of the tentacle. The monster fled to the end of the corridor without looking back, leaving the severed tentacle twitching on the floor.

The shadow flicked its ornate fish tail, sending a gust of wind that swept the tentacle under the table, out of sight, out of mind.

Even under the table, the tentacle remained lively, continuing to thrash wildly, challenging the merman's last bit of patience.

"Roar—"

The merman suddenly turned its head, baring sharp teeth, and growled menacingly at the tentacle.

Seemingly sensing a greater danger, the tentacle twitched twice and then collapsed, feigning death.

Despite the commotion, Xia Qi slept deeply, showing no signs of waking up.

Due to the pressure from the tentacle and the battle above the wooden bed, there was a loud "clang," and the bed groaned as if about to collapse, then suddenly gave way!

The merman's shadow quickly embraced Xia Qi, and before either could make a sound, they both tumbled to the ground.

Xia Qi bent down and saw a thick black tentacle in the corner, thrashing violently, as if trembling in fear.

Upon seeing Xia Qi looking at it, the tentacle thrashed even more, as if having a seizure.

"An octopus leg? Or a squid leg?"

Xia Qi frowned, feeling a wave of disgust wash over him.

Staring at the wriggling tentacle for a moment, Xia Qi bit his lip and, using a piece of cloth to wrap around his hand, picked up the squirming appendage, determined to investigate.

"Item: Octopus Tentacle"

"Level: 5"
