Chapter 4
byChapter 4
The gossip continued: "I heard that Shen Lin took a Tibetan Mastiff back home. I don't know if the dog was too dumb, but instead of biting Shen Yan, it bit the gift that Shen Yan had been preparing for half a year."
"The gift was meant for Hu Chengyu's birthday."
The crowd gathered around whispered in surprise, all wearing expressions of astonishment.
"What kind of gift requires half a year of preparation?"
The person chuckled softly, probably enjoying the attention, and continued without further teasing, with a mocking tone: "Who would have thought? Someone like Shen Yan actually made woolen felt dolls as a gift, one of himself and one of Hu Chengyu, haha, it’s hilarious."
"In my opinion, isn’t Shen Yan more like a daughter than a son?"
He had accompanied his newly dating girlfriend out of curiosity to learn woolen felting and unexpectedly ran into Shen Yan.
In fact, it had only been a month since he saw Shen Yan, not nearly half a year.
But if he didn’t embellish a bit, how else would they react with surprise?
Everyone knows that Shen Yan likes Hu Chengyu, so even if he exaggerated a little, no one would doubt it.
Lu Zhao looked a bit upset. What nonsense are these people talking about?
Hu Chengyu turned and left, as if their words had no bearing on him.
Lu Zhao followed Hu Chengyu's steps: "Bro, are you going to let them spread such rumors?"
Hu Chengyu didn't respond to him, instead instructing a passing waiter: "Get the security to come over and escort those people out."
Lu Zhao was a bit surprised. Only his brother would use ‘escort’ when kicking people out.
He observed Hu Chengyu's expression for a while, then couldn't help but ask: "Bro, are you angry?"
"No."
"Then why did you have them kicked out?"
"They were making too much noise."
Boom—
A long table fell over, followed by the sound of shattering glass, interspersed with groans of pain.
Lu Zhao turned back to see Shen Lin grabbing someone and repeatedly punching them in the face.
"Shen Lin, are you crazy?" The person being beaten by Shen Lin regained his senses and tried to retaliate.
Shen Lin didn't seem to care, landing a powerful kick to the other’s stomach.
"Shen Lin, stop." Shen Yan, who had somehow walked over, said coldly.
No one heeded his words, but Shen Lin obediently stopped.
Those who knew their relationship were somewhat surprised.
As Shen Yan approached Shen Lin, some even feared that Shen Lin might punch Shen Yan.
Shen Yan looked like Xi Zi holding her heart, and everyone genuinely worried that one punch from Shen Lin might kill him.
While everyone was worried, Shen Yan had already gripped Shen Lin's hand and gently massaged it. "Does it hurt?"
Does it hurt?
Didn't you two have a falling out? Didn't the younger brother anger the older brother so much that he ended up in the hospital?
Shen Lin's fist was slightly red, and seeing Shen Yan, he snapped, "Why are you here?"
If he got hurt, Shu Qianfei would blame him once more.
Shen Yan said to the person nearby, "Could you please bring some ice? Thank you." The person, captivated by Shen Yan's smile, fetched the ice without hesitation.
Shen Yan didn't answer but asked instead, "Did he bully you?"
Many of the onlookers were speechless. Isn't it clear who's bullying whom?
In the past, Shen Yan wouldn't have cared about Shen Lin, but from their interactions in the previous life, he knew that Shen Lin wouldn't just randomly start a fight; someone must have done something to provoke him.
Even if it was truly Shen Lin's fault, as his big brother, he would still support him.
Seeing Shen Yan’s ‘unfair’ behavior, not only the outsiders but even Shen Lin was taken aback for a moment.
This was the first time Shen Yan had stood up for him in public, and it felt great.
Shen Lin instantly turned into a child tattling, "He smeared me, saying I bought a Tibetan Mastiff to bite you."
Glaring at the person who smeared him, he sneered. "I don't know if Doumi bites, but there's a two-legged dog here nipping at people."
The person, fuming with rage, tried to charge at Shen Lin. But before anyone could react, Shen Yan stood in front of Shen Lin and was slammed into the nearby table.
Shen Lin quickly moved forward, and the moment his fingertips touched Shen Yan's clothes, Shen Yan was already half-leaning in his arms, his chest heaving as he gasped for breath.
Though Shen Lin was used to seeing him like this, he panicked. "Call emergency services!"
A figure swiftly moved to their side and whispered, "I'll handle this."
Lu Zhao hadn’t noticed when Hu Chengyu had approached Shen Yan.
With half-closed eyes, seeing Hu Chengyu made Shen Yan's heart palpitate, and the painful memories of the previous life uncontrollably flooded his mind. His condition, originally a five, was now forced to an eight!
Shen Lin, after all, was just a 16-year-old boy. Seeing someone offer help, he felt somewhat relieved and wanted to hand Shen Yan over to the other person.
But to his surprise, Shen Yan grabbed Shen Lin and wouldn't let go.
Shen Lin thought his older brother must be confused from his illness and even reminded him, "Bro, it's Young Master Hu. Let him take you to the hospital."
Shen Yan was frustrated. Didn’t his younger brother see that he didn’t want Hu Chengyu to touch him?
Once they got home, he would definitely grab Shen Lin’s ear and shout, "I *do not* like Hu Chengyu *at all*!"
Since Shen Yan was tightly holding onto Shen Lin, Hu Chengyu had no choice but to say, "I'll have the driver take you both."
After the chaos, the Shen brothers left the old Hu mansion.
The birthday party ended abruptly.
Inside the car, Shen Lin clung to Shen Yan's hand, getting ready to call Shu Qianfei. However, before he could even dial, Shen Yan snatched the phone and hung up.
Then Shen Yan sat up and said, "Wang Shu, drive slower, I'm feeling dizzy."
Shen Lin stared at him, bewildered, while Wang Shu was equally puzzled. "Young Master? Young Master?"
Once Shen Lin regained his composure, he immediately realized that Shen Yan was faking it, and his eyes, similar to Shen Yan's, flashed with anger. "Shen Yan! You damn—"
Recalling that Shen Yan's mother was also his mother, Shen Lin swallowed the insult and changed it to, "Do you have a problem?"
His anger quickly dissipated.
Shen Yan chuckled and sat up properly. "I'm sick. It's not like this is news to you."
Shen Lin glared at him angrily. "Did you find it amusing to scare me by faking illness?"
Shen Yan looked at his glistening eyes, struggling not to cry, and his heart softened. "I gave you a clue. I scratched your palm several times, but you didn't notice."
Shen Lin was a bit startled and forgot his anger. "When did you scratch my hand?"
"When I grabbed your clothes."
Shen Lin's expression turned somewhat strange. "At that moment, one hand was supporting your back, and the other was pinching your philtrum..."
The unfinished sentence clearly implied:
He had scratched the wrong person instead.
So, who got scratched?
At that time, there were only two people beside him. If it wasn't Shen Lin, then it must have been... Hu Chengyu?!
