    Chapter 205: It's Not Impossible

Raindrops as big as beans fell on the not-so-sturdy canopy, the loud noise making everyone wonder if the rain would break through it.

The production team really underestimated this one, failing to anticipate the sheer force of the downpour.

Luckily, the deserted island was relatively flat, and the camp sat at a higher elevation. Otherwise, the rain might have swept them all away.

"There's nothing we can do about the rain. We still need to finish the floor. It shouldn't last too long," Lin Miao said, instantly becoming the group's anchor and easing the anxiety brought by the storm.

Thankfully, Lin Miao had insisted on reinforcing the main support beams. Because of this, he didn't send anyone out to cut wood, instead focusing everyone on hauling back wooden poles and bamboo and processing what they already had. Now, with the rain pouring down, everyone saw how wise that decision had been.

They just had to drag the materials into the shelter, raincoats on, and start assembling.

By now, everyone was convinced of Lin Miao's skills, and he naturally took charge.

He wasn't being cocky. Without proper tools, the wisdom of their ancestors far outshone foreign theories.

China is home to countless architectural wonders that have stood for thousands of years, still intact. The techniques that have survived to this day have proven their worth—how could they compare to crumbling ruins?

Despite the lack of materials, Lin Miao relied on traditional methods to lead the group in building an elevated platform.

Though only half the floor was done, it was enough for sleeping.

As the rain persisted, even the camp began to flood. Without the elevated platform, they might've ended up sleeping in tree swings. If the rain hadn't stopped by then, it would've been a disaster.

They'd used up all the materials they had, but the rain showed no sign of letting up. Outside, it was pitch black, and they couldn't light a fire inside the shelter. The production team didn't provide backup power, so they had to conserve electricity.

In situations like this, candles were their only option.

Soaked and crammed together on the newly built floor, no one knew what to do.

They were actually better off. In past episodes, even with provided shelters, guests had to brave the rain for tasks.

But now, this shelter was essentially their own creation, so the production team wouldn't interfere with how they used it.

Lin Miao had set aside some bamboo and vines on purpose. Seeing everyone with time to spare, he decided to step up as a weaving instructor.

"How about I show you how to weave some baskets and chairs? Otherwise, we'll be stuck sitting on the ground, and that's no fun."

Everyone perked up at the idea. Lin Miao could do this too?

The crew was eager to capture this on camera, so they provided lighting tools for free, making it easier to film the crafting activities.

Hmm... Seems like the crew's getting played again?

Bamboo and straw weaving aren't that hard. Once you get the hang of it, it's just a matter of repeating the steps.

With time to kill, everyone jumped right in, and soon, each had made a pair of handwoven sandals.

They had no choice—everyone's shoes and socks were soaked, and no one knew how long the rain would last. Their backpacks were limited, and if they used all their spare clothes now, they'd have nothing left later.

Everyone was stoked to rock their DIY sandals! Even if they weren't the most comfortable, they'd made them themselves!

The crew never saw this twist coming. How had their survival show turned into a kids' crafting program?

But those sandals did look kind of fun.

Gu Zhao picked it up the quickest. His hands were naturally nimble, and after Lin Miao showed him a step, he mastered it in no time.

The second most dexterous was Wen Yuting, who often helped with household chores as a child, making her dexterous, agile, and efficient.

Among the guests, the eldest Ma Xiang was about average, but with a bit more guidance, he could manage to replicate the tasks.

As for Zuo Qingyu... he usually seemed pretty sharp, but turned out to be all thumbs! He somehow managed to tie the vines into knots, and as he wove, he ended up creating holes, and the shape didn’t resemble a shoe sole at all.

Liu Kaiyun and Zuo Qingyu were equally clumsy, neither could laugh at the other.

The guests were a real handful, and Lin Miao even managed to weave a bamboo basket while teaching, using freshly split bamboo strips he had just prepared.

He handed over the noble and challenging task of assistant teaching to Gu Zhao, teaching him and then leaving him to handle the clumsy group while he went off to weave his own basket. Only Gu Zhao, with his easygoing nature, was willing to deal with those clumsy hands.

Lin Miao finished weaving the basket, threw his shoes and socks into it, and hung it up to dry. Leaving them on the ground would dry them too slowly, so he hung them up.

Everyone thought it was a bit wasteful to use such a nice basket just for drying shoes and socks, but being skilled meant he could afford to be wasteful.

Although the basket wasn’t large, using it just to dry Lin Miao’s own shoes and socks seemed a bit wasteful.

Seeing his diligent assistant doing well, Lin Miao patted Gu Zhao and asked, "Do you want to hang yours too?"

    Gu Zhao didn’t hesitate.

Other guests: It’s awesome to be on good terms with the teacher!

They also wanted to learn basket weaving!

No one wanted their wet clothes and socks left on the ground, fearing they would get soaked and start to smell.

Lin Miao planned to teach everyone basket weaving, but today they were short on materials, so they would have to cut new bamboo and vines tomorrow.

Looking at the remaining materials on the ground, he suddenly got an idea and after tinkering for a bit, he managed to make a... bow.

A very crude bow, made without professional materials, it wasn’t very powerful.

But the shape was pretty intimidating! Who hasn’t watched martial arts movies as a child, where drawing a bow is a cool image etched into DNA!

Lin Miao made it just to entertain the kids, then tossed it aside and made a few "arrows," with the arrowheads made from leftover iron scraps from earlier when he made a machete, and some stones.

A very primitive bow and arrow set.

But no matter how primitive, it still looked cool!

With nothing else to do in the rain, everyone started playing with this primitive bow and arrow in the shed, and they were quite into it.

The production team no longer felt that Lin Miao was undermining the show; they felt they had struck gold! Such a show-effective item could be produced by Lin Miao.

Lin Miao seemed to have a knack for casually producing things that could trend on social media for days, yet he himself didn’t seem to care at all.

The director’s team was thrilled; this episode would definitely be a huge hit! A series of hits!

They couldn’t have been more pleased with Lin Miao. After the rain eased up at night, the director called Lin Miao aside and asked if he really knew how to make bows and arrows. If so, the production team was willing to provide some necessary materials, but they would have to be won through completing some small games.

Lin Miao found it amusing and casually asked, "Only bows and arrows? Since we’re abroad, why not make a gun?"

Lin Miao initially just mentioned it offhand; drawing a bow is indeed cool, but arrows are limited, consume a lot, and need to be retrieved. Since the production team could provide materials, why not aim for something bigger.

But Lin Miao didn’t really expect the production team to agree, as domestic control over firearms is very strict, and most people never come into contact with such dangerous items in their lifetime.

Upon hearing Lin Miao's words, the director was first taken aback, then his expression became complex.

Even if the production team dared to provide it, no one would use it...

    Hold on.

The director suddenly felt that he was being too close-minded.

Among the guests of this episode was Ma Xiang, a former member of the Ordnance Corps. Even though he was an entertainment corps member, he still had some skills in this area.

And it wasn’t surprising that Lin Miao could handle this. There are design experience centers in the country, but those are luxuries only the wealthy can enjoy, and Lin Miao is exactly that kind of wealthy person!

The director felt that this might actually work. After some thought, although he didn’t say yes right away, he didn’t refuse either.

"This needs to be applied for."

Lin Miao: "..." I was actually just throwing it out there.

But he had just been piloting mechs and wreaking havoc in the interstellar world in his last life, and it had been a long time since he had touched such real weapons.

It would be fun to get his hands on them.

Lin Miao even began to look forward to what kind of firearm he could get his hands on. He recalled the models available in this era and listed a few.

"Just pick one of these, with a higher safety rating."

The director was both amused and exasperated by Lin Miao: "You're even placing orders now!"

    The next day.

After upgrading the tools, the efficiency of logging and construction indeed improved significantly. In just one day, the floor, structural framework, walls, and even the roof of the house were all completed.

The production team had originally planned for the guests to take a week to finish this phase in the first episode. Who would have thought that in less than half the filming time, it was already done so perfectly? Huh???

Could these people's practical abilities be any stronger?

Where's the team leader! Can't they throw a wrench in their plans?

At night, the guests finally got a really good night's sleep.

Thinking that they would start making furniture for the house the next day, they even slept like a log at night.

The bloodline of the building enthusiasts is no joke.

Everyone was fired up, and it didn’t look like they were here to "survive" at all. It seemed as if a sense of belief had grown in everyone's eyes.

They were going to build a luxurious and fully equipped villa in this wilderness!

The production team had already thrown in the towel, and even the small games were skipped.

"Because everyone has completed the tasks of this episode ahead of schedule, the production team is giving out a special reward." The production team laid out all the prizes.

The supplies were quite rich, including handy tools, food, and even backup power sources, although there wasn’t much electricity in them, and it would be gone once used.

The guests didn’t expect such a nice bonus; the production team was so generous! They were actually allowed to choose one reward each!

Zuo Qingyu chose a hot pot set, Liu Kaiyun chose a thick sleeping bag, and Wen Yuting chose a personal bathroom.

She hadn’t taken a shower for several days and felt that she was starting to smell.

Due to the heavy rain, the stream turned into a small river, and the production team was even more reluctant to let her go alone to bathe.

Lin Miao didn't really want anything; he had everything he needed. The production team had organized this activity specifically to present him with a bow and arrow set, so Lin Miao naturally chose the archery kit.

Everyone had tried out Lin Miao's makeshift bow and arrow a couple of days ago, and now seeing him choose this professional version, they were extremely curious, each eager to try it out.

Lin Miao quickly assembled and adjusted the bow and arrow, raised the bow, nocked an arrow, and squinted one eye to aim.

His posture was very casual, not deliberately striking a pose, and it didn't even look particularly professional.

But it exuded a sense of... ease, as if he was so accustomed to using the bow and arrow that it felt second nature.

The first arrow wasn't fast, but it flew straight and true, hitting its mark.

Lin Miao tilted his head, as if pondering or confirming something, then picked up another arrow.

For some reason, everyone present fell silent when Lin Miao picked up the second arrow, not daring to interrupt him.

This inexplicably commanding presence made him seem no longer like an ordinary star.

Nocking the arrow, drawing the bow, aiming...

He held his aim for a long time without moving, as if waiting for something?

It must be said, his stance was quite impressive.

Just as everyone was wondering if Lin Miao was posing, a rustling sound came from nearby.

A flock of birds circling in flight passed over the treetops once more.

    Whoosh!

Everyone watched as the arrow shot through the air, precisely striking one of the birds, accompanied by a piercing cry, the hit bird fell into the woods.

    The guests: ............

    The production team staff: ............

    The director team: ............

An illusion?! It must be an illusion?! A lucky shot?! Ah?!

Lin Miao, having regained his familiar touch, smiled lightly: "We'll have some wild game for dinner tonight."
