    Chapter 14

"Sorry, Major General, Dr. Zhou..." The doctor's Adam's apple bobbed nervously. "It's a false pregnancy."

Xing Hui's face was cold as he glared at the anxious doctor, his tone sharp. "Are all the machines in our military hospital malfunctioning?"

The doctor adjusted his glasses uneasily. "Major General, this equipment is brand new."

As the words fell, Xing Hui's eyes darkened, fixing on him without a word.

The doctor immediately stood up, readjusted his glasses again, and cast a pleading look toward Zhou You.

Zhou You's face was impassive, but his mind seemed elsewhere. After about ten seconds, he spoke, his voice a little hoarse, "Let's go home." With that, he turned and walked out of the examination room.

Xing Hui quickly followed, clearly in a terrible mood. "Are you happy you're not pregnant?" The thought of Zhou You's detached, indifferent expression during the nearly three-hour journey from home to City A, and even during the hospital check-up—as if it had nothing to do with him—made a pang of hurt shoot through Xing Hui's heart. The pain reached his eyes, making them red as he looked at Zhou You. "I'm telling you, don't celebrate too soon! Your reproductive cavity hasn't completely degenerated. Starting today, I'll fuck you every day! I refuse to believe you can't carry my seed! And medical technology can make an alpha pregnant too! You'd better understand this clearly!"

Zhou You frowned, looking at him with disbelief. "You're disgusting."

    "Disgusting? How am I disgusting?"

Zhou You took a deep breath, feeling there was no talking to him, and quickened his pace.

Xing Hui hated when he did this—whether they were arguing, bickering, or just chatting, Zhou You would often ignore him after just a few words, as if speaking to him was something utterly unpleasant.

Regarding the matter of having a child, Xing Hui wanted to know what Zhou You thought. Even though they were both alphas, he had done his research—there were technological means, medical injections, or surgeries that could make it possible. But he didn’t want to go that route because it would put Zhou You through a lot of suffering, and he couldn’t bear that. Besides, having a child wasn’t that important to him; otherwise, he wouldn’t have married Zhou You in the first place. All along, all he wanted was Zhou You’s attitude.

But Zhou You always responded with a cold, dismissive attitude, pushing him away.

Once they got into the car, both sat in stony silence with stern expressions.

The tension in the car was so thick the driver was afraid to even breathe.

At one point, Xing Hui spoke up: "Pull over."

The driver knew the drill and promptly parked the car in a secluded spot. "Major General, I’ll step out for a smoke," he said, unbuckling his seatbelt and getting out.

Zhou You knew all too well what Xing Hui intended to do. He immediately reached to open the car door to get out but was yanked back by Xing Hui, who gripped his arm forcefully. The door slammed shut again as Xing Hui pressed Zhou You firmly into the seat.

"Where do you think you’re going?" Xing Hui’s face was icy with a menace that was frightening.

"Motion sickness. I need some fresh air," Zhou You frowned. "Let go of me." He tried to push Xing Hui away.

As a high-ranking alpha, Xing Hui’s strength was no joke. He had once crushed an enemy’s bones on the battlefield, so restraining a struggling Zhou You was hardly a challenge for him.

Moreover, compared to Xing Hui, Zhou You was no match for him strength-wise.

Xing Hui loomed over Zhou You, pinning him to the car seat, giving him no chance to struggle or curse, and roughly kissed him.

He kept his lips tightly shut, trying to turn his head away, but Xing Hui held his head firmly with one hand while using the other to grip his cheek, forcing his mouth open.

Zhou You put up a fierce struggle, forcing Xing Hui to free one hand to recline the seat slightly. He pinned Zhou You’s thrashing legs with his own and pressed his upper body firmly against Zhou You’s.

The scent of roses had already begun to fill the car. Xing Hui had long since removed his own inhibitor bracelet and was now reaching to undo Zhou You’s, all without breaking the kiss.

Zhou You whimpered under the kiss, saliva trickling from the corner of his mouth. His hair and clothes were already disheveled, making him look somewhat pitiful.

At this moment, Xing Hui seemed just like he was five years ago—far from gentle with Zhou You.

His kiss paused, but his hands kept working, roughly yanking at Zhou You’s pants.

Zhou You instinctively grabbed the edge of his pants, his eyes wide with panic. His legs kicked wildly, and his emotions grew increasingly agitated: "No! I don’t want to do this! Don’t touch me!"

Whether it was from shouting too loudly or something else, Zhou You’s head felt as if it were filling with blood, growing dizzy and heavy. His nostrils were filled with the intense scent of roses, so strong it even carried a hint of bitterness.

Xing Hui leaned in to kiss him again, embracing him and soothingly rubbing his back. Once Zhou You’s resistance lessened, he pulled down the troublesome pants, along with the underwear, in one swift motion.

Xing Hui was impatient, his heavy breathing echoing near Zhou You’s ear. He scattered delicate kisses across Zhou You’s face and lips, not too gently spreading him open to the fullest.

Zhou You, resisting desire, frowned tightly, his cheeks flushed red. Before long, Xing Hui had reduced him to tears again.

Xing Hui’s warm lips kissed his tear-filled eyes, while his large hand moved to the gland at the back of Zhou You’s neck. Slowly, his kisses shifted to the gland as well. Even though they had done this many times, being both alphas, the natural instinct of like repelling like made Zhou You uneasy, and he struggled once more.

Biting the gland and infusing pheromones—this act, when performed between two alphas, went entirely against nature. For a moment, Zhou You resisted fiercely.

His resistance only made Xing Hui’s eyes burn red. He opened his mouth and bit down fiercely, wildly injecting his unique pheromones.

The sharp pain made Zhou You cry out, instantly feeling as if a dangerous animal had sunk its teeth into his neck. He struggled wildly, trying to break free from Xing Hui’s control.

In the struggle, both of them hit their heads against the car roof to varying degrees.

Xing Hui’s lost rationality finally returned. He immediately stopped, holding Zhou You and checking his head worriedly. "Does it hurt?"

Zhou You lay panting on his shoulder, as if just fished out of water, feeling sticky and uncomfortable all over. Down below, he felt swollen and numb. Hearing Xing Hui’s concerned words, he suddenly found it ironic—the "harm" this bastard inflicted on him hurt far more than hitting his head on the car roof.

"Is it here that hurts?" Xing Hui’s attention was still on whether he had hurt Zhou You by bumping his head. "Where else did you hit?" When he received no response, he frowned, somewhat displeased. "Ignoring me again?"

Zhou You’s moist eyes looked at him, his voice hoarse and resentful as he spoke: "You’re the one hurting me. It hurts a lot... Get out!"

Xing Hui, who had been sulking, felt somewhat relieved after the marking behavior, but that didn’t mean he would let Zhou You off after just once.

It wasn’t enough. Far from enough.

    It felt endless.

    Limitless.

Two and a half hours earlier.

"No gestational sac detected—what does that mean?" Xing Hui looked at the ultrasound results, then turned to Zhou You with a questioning gaze. "It means no cyst, right? So your reproductive cavity is healthy, haha."

Zhou You’s brow furrowed slightly. He lowered his gaze, his eyes falling on the report.

    He wasn’t pregnant.

For some reason, Zhou You’s heart sank.

"What’s wrong? You look so pale," Xing Hui reached out to touch Zhou You’s face.

Zhou You glanced up at him, his lips parting slightly, but his throat felt inexplicably tight. After hesitating for a moment, he leaned into Xing Hui’s embrace, burying his head against his shoulder, clutching the report. "Yeah, no cyst."

Xing Hui was stunned by Zhou You’s sudden closeness. Once he processed it, he immediately hugged him back excitedly. "This is good news. A healthy reproductive cavity means a healthy baby. I may not know much, but that’s what it means, right?"

Zhou You took a slow breath before murmuring, "Yeah."

Xing Hui’s tone was gentle and smiling. "I do have some basic common sense."

"..." Zhou You closed his eyes speechlessly and leaned against Xing Hui’s shoulder without another word.

When all the results came out, Zhou You asked Xing Hui to wait outside while he went in alone to speak with the doctor.

In an extremely good mood, Xing Hui naturally agreed to whatever his partner said, watching Zhou You enter the examination room with a smile on his face.

"Dr. Zhou You, I'm sorry to say it's a false pregnancy."

Although he already knew the result, hearing these words made Zhou You's heart sink again.

"The primary cause of false pregnancy is psychological factors. The intense desire to have a child can lead to mental tension and anxiety, resulting in hormonal imbalances and pregnancy symptoms."

"Dr. Zhou You, please don’t be too anxious. Since you're an alpha, having a child is indeed... challenging, but it’s not without precedent. There have already been two cases of successful natural pregnancies among alphas in our country," the specialist said carefully. "Moreover, based on the examination results, your reproductive cavity is intact, though it is positioned somewhat deeper. If—"

"I don’t want a child," Zhou You finally forced out.

Yes, he didn’t want a child.

He didn’t belong in this world.

    He wasn’t Zhou You.

    His name was You Miao.

He didn’t like the same sex.

He had to leave. He had to get away.

"Can’t you just let me go?" Zhou You was crying again, tears streaming uncontrollably, his voice trembling. "I’m begging you."

Xing Hui’s eyes also reddened, his heart feeling as if it had been torn open, with Zhou You pouring ice picks into it. He gritted his teeth and forced out the words, "Let you go?" before raising his voice sharply, "Who the hell is going to let me go?"

He held Zhou You tightly in his arms, gripping his damp hair and forcing his head up to look at him, demanding fiercely, "Haven’t I treated you well these past few years? Huh? Even a stone would've warmed to me by now! Why are you so heartless, still thinking about leaving me?"

But when he saw Zhou You’s tear-streaked face, the wound in his heart, whether bleeding or stinging, suddenly went soft.

"Don’t cry," he said, reaching up to wipe away Zhou You’s tears. "Zhou You, can’t you please stop crying?"

Xing Hui was hurting—why was loving Zhou You so difficult?

Zhou You said, choking up, "Can’t you just let me go?"

"No," Xing Hui’s eyes were red. "Unless you kill me."

Zhou You stared at him blankly, "Why, exactly?"

"You still don’t know why?" Xing Hui looked at him. "Fine, it doesn’t matter. I'll say it a thousand times, ten thousand times—because I like you, love you, want you. Do you understand now?"

"But I don’t... like you," Zhou You stammered. "I don't... love you either. I don’t like the same sex."

These same three sentences, again and again, as if they could truly destroy Xing Hui.

    Don’t like me.

    Don’t love me.

Xing Hui’s heart clenched, felt like crying, but the hurtful words came out before his tears: "Who the hell cares?" His voice dropped to an icy tone as his hand around Zhou You's neck, his eyes red and glaring, his throat too tight to speak properly, yet he spat the words through his teeth: "You came onto me first."
