Chapter 106 Devour
by 薄小冉Chapter 106 Devouring
Yan Zhoubai jolted awake, looking up to find Zhan Jiayu already standing before him. He nearly brushed against Zhan Jiayu’s chin as he lifted his head.
“N-no, I wasn’t looking at anything.”
Yan Zhoubai took an awkward step back, instinctively wanting to shield himself.
Shyness was only part of it; the main reason was the significant difference in their physiques, which made him feel embarrassed.
“Really, nothing?”
Zhan Jiayu raised an eyebrow, a mischievous grin playing on his lips. It was clear he had already figured out what Yan Zhoubai was thinking, but he deliberately teased him anyway.
Yan Zhoubai closed his eyes for a moment, steeled himself, and blurted out, “Your physique is just too impressive, so I couldn’t help but look.”
“Is that so…”
Zhan Jiayu’s tone was ambiguous as he suddenly reached out, grabbed Yan Zhoubai’s wrist, and placed his hand on his own abs. In a slightly seductive voice, he said, “If you like it, go ahead and give them a feel. A boyfriend’s abs are definitely fair game.”
Yan Zhoubai was incredibly shy but also genuinely curious, tempted to touch. Coincidentally, the temperature in the bathroom was quite high, giving him a perfect excuse for his flushed face. So, he reached out and touched Zhan Jiayu’s abs.
They felt really good.
The moment Yan Zhoubai’s hand touched Zhan Jiayu’s abdomen, this thought flashed through both of their minds.
Yan Zhoubai thought Zhan Jiayu had worked out well—his abs were well-defined, with clear lines, rhythmically rising and falling with his breath. They were firm, almost like touching a washboard.
Zhan Jiayu, on the other hand, felt that Yan Zhoubai’s palm was incredibly soft. Pressing against his abdomen, it felt like a cool, fluffy cloud had settled there, making him feel very comfortable.
But Yan Zhoubai’s touch was so light that it tickled Zhan Jiayu slightly.
“Does it feel good?” Zhan Jiayu asked.
“Mhm,” Yan Zhoubai nodded.
He thought this moment would end here, but Zhan Jiayu showed no sign of stopping. Yan Zhoubai had to withdraw his hand himself and said dryly, “Let’s take a shower.”
The entire shower lasted only about ten minutes, but to Yan Zhoubai, it felt like an eternity.
At first, Zhan Jiayu said he would help scrub his back, but Yan Zhoubai was already very clean—there was nothing to scrub off. Then, Zhan Jiayu’s hands somehow wandered elsewhere. By the time they finished showering, Yan Zhoubai was completely flushed.
As soon as he got out, he wrapped himself in a bathrobe, jumped onto the bed, and buried himself under the covers.
When Zhan Jiayu stepped out of the bathroom, this was the scene that greeted him: Yan Zhoubai’s face was bright red—whether from the heat or embarrassment, it was hard to tell—his eyes were misty, his long hair damp and draped over his shoulders, and he was curled up under the blankets like a lotus flower emerging from the water.
“Come out first. Let me dry your hair for you. If you sleep like this, you’ll catch a cold.”
Zhan Jiayu called out to Yan Zhoubai with a smile.
His own hair was also wet, but it was short and would dry quickly. Yan Zhoubai’s long hair, however, needed to be blow-dried before he could sleep.
Zhan Jiayu set the hairdryer to low heat, drying Yan Zhoubai’s hair slowly. He had all the time and patience in the world.
Yan Zhoubai felt like Zhan Jiayu was treating him like a child. Something like drying his hair was something he could do himself—he didn’t need Zhan Jiayu’s help.
But thinking back, ever since he moved in with Zhan Jiayu, many of his daily tasks had naturally fallen into Zhan Jiayu’s hands:
Meals were taken care of by him, with extra dishes added from time to time. Today, he had even personally cooked noodles for him. Zhan Jiayu drove him to and from work. As his secretary, Yan Zhoubai hadn’t been much help; instead, Zhan Jiayu had taught him many new things. He even played with Huihui sometimes. And now, he was drying his hair…
Zhan Jiayu really was pampering him like a child.
But Yan Zhoubai had to admit—it felt nice.
“What’s with wrapping yourself up like that as soon as you got out? What, am I going to devour you?”
Zhan Jiayu asked casually as he dried Yan Zhoubai’s hair.
He hadn’t expected much of a response from Yan Zhoubai, knowing he was shy. However, Yan Zhoubai’s answer did not disappoint.
“You could, you know. Don’t think I don’t know, hmph.”
The hairdryer hummed loudly in his ears—even on low, it was still noisy. Zhan Jiayu almost thought he had misheard.
“What did you say?” Zhan Jiayu wanted to confirm.
“Didn’t hear me? Then I’m not repeating it,” Yan Zhoubai pouted.
But to his surprise, Zhan Jiayu suddenly tossed the hairdryer aside, wrapped his arms around Yan Zhoubai from behind, and pulled him into an embrace.
A large hand pressed against Yan Zhoubai’s neck, guiding him backward, as Zhan Jiayu lowered his head and kissed Yan Zhoubai’s lips.
“Mmph…”
Caught off guard by the sudden kiss, Yan Zhoubai felt like he was about to suffocate from the lack of air.
Fortunately, Zhan Jiayu only gave him a brief, light kiss before letting go.
“What are you doing?”
Yan Zhoubai muttered, his voice soft and muffled.
“I heard you.”
Zhan Jiayu whispered into Yan Zhoubai’s ear, his warm breath brushing against it, making Yan Zhoubai’s hairs stand on end.
“I really could devour you. Just you wait.”
…
The next morning, Yan Zhoubai didn’t wake up early. He lazed in bed until ten o’clock before slowly crawling out from under the covers.
Although Zhan Jiayu had adjusted his schedule to spend more intimate time with Yan Zhoubai, he still got up by nine.
No matter how much he lazed, he couldn’t stay in bed until ten.
While Yan Zhoubai was washing up alone in the bathroom, he couldn’t help but recall the events of the previous night.
After Zhan Jiayu said those words, his heart had pounded so hard it felt like it might leap out of his chest.
He had a vague idea of what might happen next, but it was just a hazy outline—unclear and therefore all the more nerve-wracking and anxiety-inducing.
Yet, after saying that, Zhan Jiayu did nothing. He simply finished drying Yan Zhoubai’s hair and went to sleep. Yan Zhoubai didn’t even know why he had been so tense.
At three in the afternoon, Zhan Jiayu drove Yan Zhoubai to Jing City Airport to pick up Jasmine.
The thought of seeing Yan Zhoubai’s sister made him quickly push the “incident from last night”—which had been distracting him and leaving him out of sorts since morning—to the back of his mind.
"What does your sister look like? Should we bring her a bouquet or make a welcome banner? Isn't this her first time here?"
The car was already halfway there when Yan Zhoubai suddenly remembered they hadn’t made any preparations for picking her up.
"No need. She’s not some big shot; no need for such a fuss." Zhan Jiayu said casually, one hand on the steering wheel. "She’s easy to recognize—golden wavy hair, doesn’t look fully Western, but the foreigner who seems most out of place will be her."
Jasmine and Zhan Jiayu had a good relationship; after all, she was one of the only two siblings left after Zhan Jiayu consolidated power within the Zhan family. His tone made it clear there was no sense of unfamiliarity between them.
"Is it really okay for you to say that?"
Not giving flowers was one thing, but why describe his own sister as incongruous? Yan Zhoubai couldn’t tell whether this was because they were so close or if there was some underlying sarcasm.
"Incongruous isn’t a criticism. She’s mixed-race—her mother is a very beautiful white woman, but the old man’s genes are quite strong, so Jasmine’s features lean more towards Chinese."
"But she grew up in Country A, and her aesthetic and overall style are completely Country A. That’s why I said she seems a bit incongruous."
Zhan Jiayu explained.
Yan Zhoubai still couldn’t quite picture Jasmine’s appearance and vibe until he saw her in person at the airport.
He had to admit Zhan Jiayu’s description was spot-on. The moment Jasmine emerged, Yan Zhoubai recognized her immediately.
Golden, big wavy hair, wearing a tank top and hot pants, with black sunglasses pushed up on her head. Her eyes were beautiful—gray-blue pupils, deep-set with distinct double eyelids—but her nose wasn’t as high as one might expect, and her lips were thin.
Just as Zhan Jiayu had said, at first glance, aside from being a very pretty mixed-race girl, there was a slight sense of incongruity.
Upon closer inspection, that incongruity came from her features not blending her parents’ traits but rather seeming like they were pieced together from each side, like a puzzle.
But she was indeed very beautiful. Yan Zhoubai noticed many people staring at her even in those few steps she took.
"Hiiiii, Vito! Long time no see!"
Yan Zhoubai saw Jasmine scan the area after she came out, then spotted Zhan Jiayu and immediately rushed over, throwing her arms around him.
Jasmine wasn’t very tall; Yan Zhoubai estimated she was under five foot seven. When she hugged Zhan Jiayu’s neck, her feet left the ground, and she hung off him entirely.
So Zhan Jiayu’s name in Country A was Vito—he’d never heard him mention it before.
Yan Zhoubai knew it was customary in Country A to greet with hugs, but seeing Jasmine clinging to Zhan Jiayu made him feel a bit uneasy inside.
"Ahhh, why is this girl like this? Zhan Jiayu is taken now!"
The system suddenly yelled in Yan Zhoubai’s mind.
"She’s his biological sister, and it’s just the custom in Country A. Don’t make a fuss."
Yan Zhoubai felt a bit bothered by the system’s outburst.
"What Country A custom? I’ve never heard of that." The system refused to accept it.
"What kind of worlds did your previous hosts live in? How do you not even know this?" Yan Zhoubai grew curious.
"I don’t remember." The system suddenly quieted down, sounding dejected.
At that moment, Yan Zhoubai saw Zhan Jiayu peel Jasmine off him—she hadn’t even been hugging him for three seconds.
"Hey? Who’s this cute little hottie? Did you bring him? Come here, let your big sis give you a hug."
Aww babiee it’s okay you’ll remember soon : (
