Chapter 134 Pajamas
by 薄小冉Chapter 134: Pajamas
"?"
A huge question mark appeared above Yan Zhoubai's head. Bu Qiran had a cosplay hobby?
On second thought, it wasn't that strange. He liked wearing women's clothes, so it wasn't surprising he'd also enjoy cosplay.
"What character are you cosplaying?" Yan Zhoubai asked, curious.
"Olivia, a character from 'Eternal City'," Bu Qiran replied.
Yan Zhoubai hadn't heard of it and didn't know what 'Eternal City' was, so he casually looked it up on his phone.
It turned out to be a game character. Cosplaying her was fine, but the key point was that Olivia was a female character. Was Bu Qiran going to cosplay a female character?
Olivia had golden curly hair, was very tall, wore a white gown with a faint pinkish tint, and held a massive scepter embedded with a purple gemstone. She looked both sacred and noble.
"So? Do you think I suit this character?"
Bu Qiran ran a hand through his light golden long hair, his eyes smiling as he looked at Yan Zhoubai.
Seeing Bu Qiran's gesture, Zhang Lin instinctively shifted away, not bothering to hide the look of disgust on his face.
If he hadn't known Bu Qiran since childhood, there was no way they would have become friends. He couldn't stand Bu Qiran's appearance—long hair, eccentric clothes, and that pretty-boy look. If strangers didn't know them, they would never think the two were friends.
And what was Bu Qiran implying? Flirting with this fake young master, preening and posing—what was his intention?
"...Whatever makes you happy."
Could Yan Zhoubai say it wasn't suitable? Even if he did, Bu Qiran wouldn't listen and would probably go on and on about how perfect he was for the role. What was the point?
"Then let's go together."
Bu Qiran didn't miss the perfunctory tone in Yan Zhoubai's words, but he didn't care.
Yan Zhoubai was indeed tempted by the comic convention, but he didn't really want to go with Bu Qiran. Then again, he thought, Zhan Jiayu didn't seem like the type to go to a comic con and probably wouldn't go with him.
Zhang Lin watched their exchange from the sidelines and sneered. He knew it. When Bu Qiran told him he wanted to invite Yan Zhoubai to the comic convention, he guessed this fake young master wouldn't accompany him.
They were the real and fake young masters, natural adversaries. Bu Qiran's return would leave this fake young master with nowhere to belong, so why would he go hang out with him?
Besides, on the first day of school, he saw a tall man coming with this fake young master. That man, who had an assistant with him, was clearly someone important. The fake young master definitely had his own connections and wouldn't waste time with Bu Qiran, this "rival."
"'Kitten Kia's Adventures' is holding a special event at this comic convention. I can take you backstage to meet the creative team. Are you sure you don't want to go with me?"
Bu Qiran had been confident since he got back, as if he wasn't worried Yan Zhoubai would turn him down. The reason was 'Kitten Kia's Adventures.'
He had accidentally found out that Yan Zhoubai was a big fan of this anime.
After Yan Zhoubai left the Yan family to live with Zhan Jiayu, he one day found a package at home addressed to his eldest brother, Yan Anxuan.
It wasn't strange for Yan Anxuan to order packages, but what was inside was strange—it was official 'Kitten Kia's Adventures' pajamas.
Bu Qiran certainly knew about the anime 'Kitten Kia's Adventures,' but he didn't think Yan Anxuan's personality would lead him to enjoy a story about a brave kitten going through various hardships and eventually returning home.
Yan Anxuan wasn't the type to enjoy childish things.
Later, while the housekeeping staff was cleaning Yan Zhoubai's vacant room, he caught a glimpse of two Kitten Kia figurines on his desk. He walked in, looked around, flipping through things, and found some other merch as well.
The housekeeper seemed to want to stop him from touching Yan Zhoubai's things, but seeing that he put them back in place after looking, she didn't say anything.
Bu Qiran chuckled lightly at the time and asked the cleaning lady, "What? Am I not allowed in this room?"
"Mr. and Mrs. specifically instructed that the young master's room should be cleaned regularly, that no one should touch his things, and that others should not be allowed in as much as possible."
The housekeeper's reply was very scripted, but it was also clear that she was surprised by Bu Qiran's unexpected intrusion.
Bu Qiran didn't say anything, just took a couple of casual steps over to Yan Zhoubai's wardrobe, and before the housekeeper could stop him, he reached out and opened the door.
Sure enough, inside the wardrobe, he saw that official Kitten Kia's Adventures pajama set.
Bu Qiran closed the wardrobe door and turned to the housekeeper with a half-smile. "Didn't you say no one else should come in? Wasn't this put here by my big brother?"
It was after that incident that he remembered Yan Zhoubai liked Kitten Kia's Adventures, so he guessed that using this as bait, Yan Zhoubai wouldn't be able to resist.
"Kitten Kia's Adventures?"
Just as Bu Qiran had guessed, Yan Zhoubai immediately looked up at the mention of it, his previously bored expression gone.
"Right, and if you come with me, you can meet a lot of the behind-the-scenes staff too," Bu Qiran continued persuasively.
Kitten Kia's Adventures was an anime that Yan Zhoubai really, really liked—it was very healing. Although the animation seemed simple at first glance, like something only children would watch, once you actually watched it, you'd find that the simple storylines were actually quite meaningful, which was why Yan Zhoubai loved it so much.
He had bought Kitten Kia's Adventures merch before, supporting his favorite series wholeheartedly.
But he wasn't someone who kept up with news about the series, so he hadn't known that Kitten Kia's Adventures would have an event at the comic con.
"What exactly would I need to do as your assistant?"
Yan Zhoubai didn't agree right away and cautiously asked for details. He couldn't trust Bu Qiran too easily—what if he got tricked?
Bu Qiran's lips curled into a smirk. He knew using this as bait would work.
"It's simple. Olivia's costume is very complicated, and it's a floor-length dress. It would be troublesome for me to go alone; I'd need someone to help me. Also, if a lot of people want to take photos with me, I'd need someone to help with crowd control."
After hearing Bu Qiran's explanation, Yan Zhoubai pursed his lips, thinking in an inner monologue: A lot of people wanting to take photos with you? Do you really think you're that popular? Is your cosplay that good?
Zhang Lin, standing nearby, also frowned. Was Bu Qiran out of his mind, asking this disliked fake young master to do such trivial things?
And could this pampered fake young master even handle this kind of work? Helping him with his dress, blocking crowds? He looked more like the one who needed help himself.
Bu Qiran didn't even consider his own height—much taller than this fake young master, and with a bigger build. Wouldn't it look ridiculous for him to walk ahead with a short guy tagging along behind?
And what was that about a kitten adventure? Sounded like a cartoon for kids. Did this fake young master really like that kind of thing?
He probably wouldn't agree to Bu Qiran, right?
"Alright."
Just as Zhang Lin was thinking that this pampered fake young master wouldn't agree, he heard a clear voice beside him—he actually agreed.
"But he should come too. I'm afraid I won't be able to handle it alone."
Zhang Lin was about to say something when he realized this fake young master had included him too, wanting him to come along.
What was he thinking? We just met—we weren't that close. Why would he actively include him?
Zhang Lin felt a ripple of emotion because of something Yan Zhoubai said without thinking about bringing him along, though in reality, it was nothing more than an offhand comment.
The only reason Yan Zhoubai wanted to bring Zhang Lin was just to have an extra pair of hands to help with the work. Since Zhang Lin happened to be there, he was the obvious choice. Besides, he and Bu Qiran were old friends, after all, making it even more fitting.
As for Yan Zhoubai himself, he just wanted to take the opportunity to crash the *Kitten Kia's Adventures* event.
"Baby, you're becoming quite the schemer," the system's voice suddenly rang in his mind.
"Hehe."
"The two of us going is enough. Zhang Lin isn't interested in cons like this—he doesn't usually watch anime much."
The moment Bu Qiran heard Yan Zhoubai suggest bringing Zhang Lin along, his happy expression instantly disappeared, and his brows furrowed.
He had specifically chosen this opportunity to spend some alone time with Yan Zhoubai. He wanted to properly ask exactly what kind of sweet talk that Zhan Jiayu had given him to make him leave the Yan family and follow him away.
The unreliable system in his mind had also been constantly urging him lately, telling him to speed up his progress. He needed to defeat the antagonist boss, Zhan Jiayu. Although, in theory, the two of them weren't supposed to cross paths until later, now that they had, he had to be prepared.
After all, they were rivals. Winning Yan Zhoubai over first could be considered a form of "winning," right? Surprisingly, the system was convinced by Bu Qiran's twisted logic and found it reasonable.
"Cons are more fun with more people, and wouldn't it be better to have two people helping you?"
Yan Zhoubai didn't want to do all the work alone. Let Zhang Lin handle the heavy lifting—he was strong, and the two of them had a good relationship.
"But..."
Bu Qiran still wanted to say something more. He really didn't want it to be a trio, but he was cut off.
"Who said I'm not interested in cons?"
Both of them whipped their heads toward Zhang Lin.
