Chapter 5 Cheated On by the Scum for the 101st Time 5
byChapter 5: Getting Cheated On by a Scumbag for the 101st Time: 5
Ye Chen noticed his discomfort, gave a couple of noncommittal replies, and the two of them entered the building's stairwell.
The narrow concrete staircase was barely wide enough for two people to pass, and there was no elevator.
Ye Chen glanced at Yan Bai, and, seeing no sign of disdain or reluctance, he relaxed a little.
"It's on the sixth floor. Want me to carry you up?"
Yan Bai pictured being carried princess-style and decisively refused.
But in his current condition, climbing six flights of stairs would probably half kill him.
Yan Bai hesitated for a moment and opted for a middle ground.
"You can carry me on your back."
Ye Chen immediately crouched down. His back was broad and looked reliable. Yan Bai clambered on without a second thought.
Ye Chen hooked his hands under Yan Bai's thighs and started climbing the stairs two steps at a time, as if it were nothing.
He smelled pleasantly of soap, not expensive but fresh—an unfamiliar scent to Yan Bai.
Yan Bai rested his head on Ye Chen's back, feeling a surprising sense of calm and safety.
He simply closed his eyes to savor this new sensation.
Ye Chen used a key to open the old iron door, with a wooden door behind it.
Yan Bai was also curious about where he lived and opened his eyes, taking in the surroundings.
The room was very small, just a single space that served as both a bedroom and a living room.
A bed stood against the wall, and the rest of the room held only a single sofa and a simple dining table.
Half of the tiny balcony had been converted into a makeshift kitchen.
The cheap floor tiles were worn and chipped in places.
The whole place could be summed up in one word: old, shabby, and small!
But it was extremely clean, with even the tile grout scrubbed white, not a speck of dust in sight.
This guy seemed to be a neat freak.
Ye Chen gently placed him on the bed, which was covered with a blue-checkered bedsheet.
He immediately propped pillows and a quilt behind Yan Bai so he could sit comfortably.
Yan Bai felt a little better inside.
Such a good, filial boy!
Ye Chen felt his forehead lightly.
"Your fever hasn't broken yet. You'll still need to take some medicine in a bit.
I looked it up online, and for your condition, it's best to apply some ointment to heal faster.
But I don't have that kind of medicine at home. I'll go down and buy some for you."
Yan Bai flushed slightly; the topic was a bit too sensitive.
He could only try to steer the conversation elsewhere.
"You've only fed me plain congee these past two days. Are you trying to starve me to death and inherit my fortune?"
Ye Chen paused, then suddenly laughed.
"You have to be married to inherit someone's fortune. Are you planning to give me that right?"
Yan Bai made to slap him but, considering his current physical state, decided to settle the score later.
"I'm hungry. Hurry up and get me something good to eat!"
Ye Chen stopped teasing him and went downstairs.
He returned in less than an hour, carrying two bags.
One bag was full of stacked takeout containers. The logo on the bag was from a well-known restaurant that the original host often ordered from.
The other bag held medicine.
Ye Chen opened all the containers—four dishes and a soup, quite a feast.
Nine-Tailed Fox tsked.
"This meal must cost a month of Ye Chen's wages. He doesn't hold back with you, does he?"
Yan Bai curled his lips. Ye Chen asked him,
"Do you want to eat on the bed or over here?"
A faint smile appeared on Yan Bai's face, though it was a mischievous one.
"Can I eat on the bed?"
Ye Chen's expression flickered with hesitation for a moment before he gritted his teeth and said,
"Fine!"
But Yan Bai laughed.
"No, I still have to sleep in this bed tonight. I'll eat over there."
Ye Chen let out an almost imperceptible sigh of relief. A neat freak really couldn't stand people eating in bed.
Yan Bai sat down at the dining table and noticed only one bowl of rice.
"Aren't you eating?"
Ye Chen replied,
"You eat first. I'll eat later. I need to apply some medicine first."
With that, Ye Chen took the medicine bag and went to the balcony.
There was a half-length mirror on the balcony. Ye Chen took off his shirt, twisted to check his back in the mirror, and put medicine on it.
From the earlier fight, Ye Chen had been hit many times, and now his body was covered in bruises—a pretty rough sight.
Yan Bai looked over. The dappled sunlight happened to fall on his back, and the curve of his spine was kind of captivating.
Yan Bai ignored it, lowered his head, and continued eating.
The Nine-Tailed Fox, however, drooled a little.
"That’s a fine waist, but he’s deliberately twisting it back and forth in front of you. Is he coming on to you?"
Yan Bai was speechless.
"This place is tiny enough as it is. How far away could he possibly get?"
The Nine-Tailed Fox glanced around. The balcony was indeed the farthest spot from Yan Bai.
"Alright, fine. A dirty mind sees dirt everywhere—I’m talking about myself."
Yan Bai smiled silently. After eating half a bowl of rice and a few bites of the dishes, he was full. He moved back to the bed and continued lying there like a corpse.
After applying the medicine, Ye Chen stayed shirtless. He took another tube of ointment from the medicine bag, sat beside Yan Bai, and reached out to pull down Yan Bai’s pants.
Yan Bai froze.
"Are you even human?"
Ye Chen paused.
"Don't be afraid. I'm not going to do anything. I’m just applying medicine for you."
"Who’s scared? I don’t need it!"
Ye Chen was starting to understand Yan Bai’s temper. He patiently coaxed him.
"I asked about this—applying it will make you feel much more comfortable."
Yan Bai was mortified. "Who did you ask?"
"It was… it was the person at the pharmacy…"
Yan Bai covered his face, genuinely embarrassed for him.
Before he knew it, Ye Chen had already swiftly pulled down his pants—his movements were alarmingly skilled.
Yan Bai wanted to resist again, but Ye Chen spoke up.
"School starts in three days. Are you sure you don’t want the medicine?"
Yan Bai thought about the hardness of the school benches and gave in.
He gave up struggling, somewhat resigned.
"Fine, hurry up!"
With just a light touch, Yan Bai flinched. Ye Chen’s heart raced a little, but he suppressed his wandering thoughts.
He quickly and carefully applied the medicine, then completely removed Yan Bai’s pants.
Just as Yan Bai was about to explode, Ye Chen spoke, his voice slightly hoarse.
"Your jeans are too stiff. They’ll rub and make you uncomfortable. I’ll find you some softer sleep pants."
Yan Bai swallowed the curses about to spill from his lips and accepted his kindness with a smile.
