Chapter 24 I’ll Take the Blame
byChapter 24: I’ll Take the Blame
Xiao Li said there were three alphas from his class who did it, the ringleader was Liang Xiao, the alpha who had taken Xiao Li's place on the trip to the Yan City Art Museum with the teacher this time.
Xiao Li was an omega. In the architecture industry, even if you graduated from a prestigious school, you had to frequently go to construction sites for supervision. The environment at the site was poor, occasionally required climbing scaffolding, demanded physical strength, and was dangerous. There were also many people at the site, most of them alphas. If he encountered a rogue alpha, it was possible. Moreover, concrete pouring might happen at night, and an omega going home alone wasn’t safe.
Liang Xiao naturally looked down on Xiao Li, the academic who always ranked first in the department exams.
The Yan City Art Museum was going to be relocated and renovated this time. The teacher intended to take some people for a visit—one undergraduate and three graduate students—to work on a project together. This opportunity had landed on Xiao Li. Liang Xiao couldn’t stand it and stopped Xiao Li after evening self-study ended, demanding he give up the spot.
Because Xiao Li had been kidnapped by alphas for experiments before, he had an instinctive fear of alphas, but he didn’t want to give up such a great opportunity, so he refused.
Liang Xiao’s father was someone from the General Bureau in the capital, with power and influence in the family. Liang Xiao had a fiery temper from a young age. Seeing Xiao Li, who looked so frail and weak, insist on keeping the spot and being indifferent to both coaxing and threats, he lost control of his temper and resorted to violence.
Xiao Li’s leg was injured, and his body was covered in bruises.
Not only did Liang Xiao beat Xiao Li, but he also arrogantly bragged about his family background. When Xiao Li heard it was the Four Bureaus, he didn’t say a word. The next day, he voluntarily went to the teacher and gave up the spot.
Xiao Li was afraid he would cause trouble for Chen Su, so he refused to say anything.
“Bro, I’m already a little scared of alphas. This project would be very hard on me. If I don’t go, I can spend winter break at home with you. That’s good, right?”
Xiao Li tugged at Chen Su’s arm and said softly, “Really.”
“I’ll take you to the hospital to get a medical assessment. Leave the rest to me.”
Chen Su took Xiao Li to the hospital for a medical assessment, sent him back to school, and then went to find the principal to demand an explanation. The school knew about Liang Xiao’s background and focused on counseling and punishment. Chen Su was not satisfied with this result. He took the medical assessment and returned to the capital.
Liang Xiao’s incident caused quite a stir.
The principal told Liang Xiao’s father. When Liang’s father heard that the other party’s family was also from the Four Bureaus, he dismissed it as a squabble between youngsters and didn’t take it seriously. He told Liang Xiao to return to the capital and just go through the motions, then go back to school when the Yan City Art Museum project started.
Liang Xiao was a wild card who couldn't stay put. He immediately rounded up his buddies and went to a bar to drink.
Liang Xiao had a great time and drank a lot.
When he went to the restroom to throw up, he saw an alpha leaning against the sink, his long legs propped on the marble counter, smoking a slim women’s cigarette. What really caught his eye was that this alpha was wearing a lace top underneath a loose, long trench coat that covered his waist and hips. The hand holding the cigarette was clad in a leather glove. As the smoke rose, the alpha lifted his gaze. His icy eyes held an air of superiority that made you instinctively look up to him.
Liang Xiao was a bit dazed. He figured he must be really drunk. This alpha was even more attractive than an omega!
How could he be so good-looking?
How could his waist be so thin, and wearing lace?
Liang Xiao swallowed the taste of alcohol in his mouth, feeling inexplicably restless. Obviously, alphas can't attract each other with pheromones—they even repel each other. No alpha would want to go through that, but…
As Liang Xiao sized up the alpha before him, he realized with a shock: alphas have strong, long legs and firm asses. They're even more… durable than omegas.
Alphas were good.
An alpha was fine too.
Liang Xiao raised an eyebrow and walked over with a grin. “Hey, is this your first time drinking here? I haven’t seen you before.”
Chen Su just shot him a cold glance, stubbed out his cigarette, and left.
Liang Xiao, as if possessed, messaged his friends goodbye and followed Chen Su all the way.
The bar was very large, located in a remote area. At this late hour, aside from late-night food stalls and designated drivers, there were hardly any people around. But Chen Su deliberately headed toward the quieter spots.
After walking a few hundred meters, dead silence.
Liang Xiao quickened his pace. “Do you live around here? Can we exchange contact info?”
“…”
“Are you drunk? Do you need help?”
“…”
“Do you have an omega?”
“…”
“Don’t be so aloof. My family is very rich. Next time you drink, you can call me. I’ll pick you up. I don’t have any bad intentions.”
Chen Su stopped, raised his hand, and in the dark alley entrance, grabbed the alpha by the hair. With a very rough motion, he yanked the alpha’s head and slammed it hard against the wall.
“Ah! Hiss—” Liang Xiao’s forehead hit the wall, and hot blood streamed down.
Before Liang Xiao could react, he was slammed against the wall several more times, his head growing more dazed. Chen Su kicked Liang Xiao’s leg with great force, causing Liang Xiao to fall to his knees. Chen Su followed with several punches to Liang Xiao’s body. Liang Xiao blocked with his arms, and soon his thick arms were covered in bruises.
Only then did Chen Su understand how Xiao Li’s bruises had come about.
“Hey… I just tried to chat you up, it’s not that serious!”
“Ugh… do you know who my dad is?”
“I advise you not to be so ungrateful!”
Liang Xiao was really hurting, his tone growing more and more aggressive. He suddenly broke free, but Chen Su kicked him again, harder and more viciously.
“Mm…” Liang Xiao groaned in pain.
Chen Su beat him until Liang Xiao curled up on the ground. Though he didn’t pass out, he was almost there. His head had been slammed into the wall repeatedly—there was no need for a hospital to know he had a mild concussion.
Chen Su disappeared from the alley entrance.
After walking a distance, he took off the glove from his right hand, stuffed it into his trench coat pocket, and prepared to hail a cab to go back. A black Rolls-Royce stopped in front of Chen Su. The rear door opened, and a deep, angry voice came out: “Chen Su.”
“…”
Zhao Jinzong sat in the back seat, his bangs blown by the wind. His face was cold and stern, his gaze fixed on Chen Su’s waist, looking at the overly sheer, provocative shirt Chen Su was wearing.
“Get in.”
“…” Chen Su couldn’t get in the car.
Liang Xiao had been beaten, and his father doted on him—he would definitely investigate. If Chen Su got into any car and the car went anywhere, it would be too easy to trace.
The place where he beat Liang Xiao had no surveillance, but here, there was surveillance.
If Chen Su got into Zhao Jinzong’s car, Zhao Jinzong would be dragged into this mess.
Zhao Jinzong gripped the armrest, his fingers tightening, and said in a deep voice, “I know. I’ll take the blame. Get in.”
“Zhao Jinzong…”
Zhao Jinzong reached out his hand toward Chen Su. “Chen Su, don’t make me angry.”
