Chapter 26: Restlessness

"Ye Shi, you look pale. Did someone offend you?" Chen Da asked with evident concern.

Ye Shi shook his head and managed a feeble smile, "No, not at all."

Even though Zhuang Yu didn't scold him, what she implied hurt more. "Poor Mu Chen," she must think. "He's unfortunate to marry someone like me."

He shouldn't foolishly hope to be worthy of Mu Chen.

Ye Shi clenched his teeth. Deep down, he still held some fantasies about his fiancé, especially after meeting Mu Chen, who never showed any dislike. However, Zhuang Yu's words shattered those illusions.

Chen Da looked at Ye Shi's face and sighed softly. On the surface, Ye Shi seemed indifferent and unaffected, but deep down, he was an insecure and sensitive child. Chen Da could tell he'd suffered again.

"Shi, don't overthink things," Chen Da advised.

Biting his teeth again, Ye Shi said, "I understand."

"You're back," Mu Yuan Feng greeted Mu Chen with a smile as he entered.

"Yes, Father," Mu Chen replied, scratching his head.

Recently, Mu Chen had mended his ways, and his relationship with Mu Yuan Feng had significantly improved. Mu Yuan Feng no longer secluded himself and cherished their newfound father-son bond.

Mu Chen's newfound drive seemed to have dissolved Mu Yuan Feng's concerns, and his previously stagnant progress was now rapidly advancing.

"Have the items been dispatched?" Mu Yuan Feng inquired.

Mu Chen nodded, replying, "They have."

"If you genuinely care for him, bring him back sooner. He's still young and drawing attention. It's not good for him," Mu Yuan Feng remarked, his back turned.

Mu Chen nodded again, adding hesitantly, "I know, but he might not listen to me."

Seeing the young and love-stricken Mu Chen, Mu Yuan Feng chuckled. "It's okay. Take your time. Ye Shi is stubborn but soft-hearted. If you're sincere, he'll listen to you."

Mu Chen simply nodded.

"Mu Chen's back, I see!" A genial voice echoed.

Recognizing the newcomer, Mu Yuan Feng slightly furrowed his brow.

"Greetings, Uncle," Mu Chen said respectfully. Although aware of Mu Yuan Hai's ill intentions, Mu Chen still maintained formalities.

Mu Yuan Hai smiled, "Chen, you've been making waves recently. You're now a warrior!"

Patting Mu Chen's shoulder, Mu Yuan Feng interjected, "Chen's capabilities are nowhere near Hong's. At Chen's age, Hong was already a two-star warrior."

"Given Chen's current progress, he might surpass us soon," Mu Yuan Hai complimented.

"Let's hope for your good words to come true," Mu Yuan Feng replied.

While Mu Yuan Hai's face showed affection, his heart was tumultuous.

"Brother, I've heard that Chen's fiancée is in Mo City. Yet, she hasn't visited," Mu Yuan Hai pointed out.

Mu Yuan Feng frowned, recalling the incident when their servant dismissed Ye Shi. It was an inappropriate act.

"Perhaps they have their reasons. Let the younger generation handle their affairs. We shouldn't interfere," Mu Yuan Feng reasoned.

Mu Yuan Hai nodded, "True, Chen has grown up."

After some small talk with Mu Yuan Hai, Mu Chen and Mu Yuan Feng departed.

Walking alongside Mu Chen, Mu Yuan Feng felt pleased. In the past, Mu Chen was closer to Mu Yuan Hai and distant from him, which always left a bitter taste in Mu Yuan Feng's mouth.

Seeing Mu Chen taking the initiative to distance himself from Mu Yuanhang, Mu Yuanfeng felt a touch of relief. Though he and Mu Yuanhang were brothers, in a large family, conflicts among siblings were all too common.
