    Chapter 1

    001

It began with a suicide note.

Chu Li had no idea how others experienced transmigration.

    His was somewhat "unique."

He was a cancer patient who had lain in bed for three years and ultimately lost the battle against his illness.

The flatline warning from the heart monitor by his bedside filled the air, but he didn't feel much regret; just a slight disappointment that in his short life, he hadn't seen many sunny days. If he had known he would die so soon after treatment, he wouldn't have bothered. Wouldn't it have been better to spend that time in agony on the hospital bed exploring the world outside?

There was no time for deep regret as darkness engulfed his vision.

    "Chirp, chirp, chirp."

But just as his eyes closed, the chirping of birds outside the window brought him back to consciousness. Blazing sunlight illuminated his body, drying out half of his lips.

Chu Li couldn't help but lick his lips, only to touch something dry and thin with the tip of his tongue.

Without waiting for his mind to process it, his hand instinctively reached up to his face before his thoughts caught up.

Then, he felt a piece of paper.

    What was this?

He opened his eyes, meeting a row of unfamiliar script – it was actually a suicide note.

"Hello, dear stranger, I don't know who you are, but congratulations, this body is now yours."

"I'm Chu Li, an ordinary male Omega on Blue Stripe Star. I'm an orphan who was adopted by my foster parents at six. They thought I was an Alpha, but when I went through my secondary gender differentiation at sixteen, things didn't go as planned."

"I've been plagued by chronic pheromone disorders, requiring daily injections of suppressants. (I've already registered your pheromones for today, so you can inject the suppressant tomorrow morning at eight.) The physical pain and my family's lack of understanding made life unbearable, leading me to consider escape."

"Perhaps my thoughts were heard by the heavens, because yesterday, a bizarre app suddenly appeared on my phone. It promised that if I joined the game, I would enter an exciting new world. As I had no more attachments to this current world, I signed a contract with the app."

"The app informed me that by offering my body to aid a deceased individual, I could reap certain benefits. After much contemplation, I decided to strike a deal with the app."

"So congratulations to you, regardless of your origin or identity, this body is now yours. I hope you'll be braver than me and live a good life. Regard me as a coward who fled."

"PS, my pheromone disorder is severe. The suppressants are in the drawer closest to the bed in the desk cabinet. Remember to inject yourself daily."

"Furthermore, the Chu Heyang family is highly suspicious. If they discover that the soul in this body has changed, they'll surely cast you out. I haven't graduated from the Omega Academy yet; leaving this house means certain death. I've written this farewell letter with dissolvable ink. After reading, place it in the glass on the table and let it soak for a while. The words will vanish."

"That's all from someone who was once known as Chu Li."

With a dazed expression, Chu Li examined the farewell letter several times before regaining his composure.

He had somehow come back to life.

It felt like a dream – a mix of joy and disbelief. He dared not be overly ecstatic, fearing it might 'awaken' this beautiful illusion.

Yet, he waited for a long time, and the dream didn't dissipate. Instead, the sunlight grew stronger, making him thirsty and crave water.

In truth, he wasn't keen on dying. Cancer treatment was excruciating. During the worst moments, even painkillers couldn't alleviate his suffering, leaving him sleepless through the nights. Intense chemotherapy caused his hair to fall out entirely. Despite being in his prime, his wrists, hidden beneath the hospital gown, were as thin as a skeleton's.

Many saw him as a burden, preferring him dead than alive, but he never entertained the notion of giving up.

He yearned to live. Given the slightest chance, even if it meant barely clinging to existence, he would seize it and persevere.

He had assumed that fate was unmerciful, taking his life despite his every effort to recover. Yet, life took an unexpected turn. He died only to awaken in another world, inhabiting a different person's body.

Chu Li propped himself up, still feeling a bit dizzy and disoriented, likely due to the recent transition. Nonetheless, he could discern the bright blue sky through the window and two small sparrows perched on a nearby wall, chirping merrily.

"Thank you, Chu Li," he whispered, closing his eyes slightly to express gratitude to the kind soul who had facilitated his rebirth.

    Being alive was truly wonderful.

He hoped that the original owner of this body, on the path he had chosen, would also find their own answers.

After a moment of adjustment, Chu Li opened his eyes to examine the room more closely.

The space was compact, no more than a dozen square meters. A bed was pushed against one wall, with a window at its foot. A desk and a bookshelf occupied the remaining space, leaving little room for anything else; turning around within the room felt cramped.

On the desk sat a glass filled to the brim with water, likely the item mentioned in the original owner's letter. Chu Li had only a vague understanding of what was being said, but as it was a request from the person who had gifted him this body, he followed the instructions and stood up to immerse the suicide note into the glass of water. The original owner seemed to have tidied up, for the room was orderly, with even the bedding folded neatly, giving an impression of expecting a guest. Chu Li strolled around the room, opening drawers to take a look. This was the original owner's room, yet there were no overly personal belongings. The desk and cabinets had been cleaned, and the clothes in the wardrobe were folded with care. It appeared that the original owner had discarded their underwear, leaving behind only a few unopened sets, arranged meticulously in the closet. On the desk, there was a new set of toiletries, presumably prepared for Chu Li. The cabinet held numerous books, but their content puzzled Chu Li. "Omega's Code," "Family Cooking Techniques," "Organizing Skills: How to Keep Your Home Neat," "100 Graceful Household Skills Every Omega Should Learn," "How Painting Can Enhance One's Personality," "Eight Taboos in Marriage," "Caring for Your Alpha," and "Guide to Childbirth." Recalling the terms Alpha, Omega, and others from the suicide note, the original owner had identified themselves as a male Omega. Now, it seemed that Omega was some kind of unique descriptor? A profession? A personality classification? After studying for quite some time, Chu Li still couldn't decipher the meaning of "Omega." Just as he was about to pull out the "Omega's Code" for a closer look, there came a knocking sound at the door, three solid raps.

    "Chu Li, are you awake?"

The knocking was urgent and forceful, causing the room's walls to vibrate. The noise made Chu Li frown as he turned and walked toward the door.

However, before he could open it, the door was violently shoved open.

A young boy stood in the entrance. He was around five feet seven inches tall, slender and frail with golden curly hair and milk-white skin.

Chu Li halted, his brows furrowing as he looked at the boy. "What are you doing?"

"It's already eight o'clock! Why haven't you gotten up to cook?" The boy yelled, striding into Chu Li's room without invitation. "And you're asking me what I'm doing? What have you been sneaking around for in your room early in the morning?"

Chu Li's room wasn't spacious, so the boy quickly noticed the cup on the table with a piece of paper soaking inside.

His eyes widened as he pushed past Chu Li, entering the room. "You actually soaked a school exam paper! Chu Li, is it because your grades are too terrible, and you don't want my parents to see them?"

Chu Li frowned, displeased by the intrusion into his personal space. He spoke coolly, "That's not an exam paper."

The boy raised an eyebrow. "I don't believe you. I'm going to show it to our parents!"

Saying this, he reached out to grab the water glass.

Concerned that the writing might not have fully faded, Chu Li rushed to snatch it. Despite his frail appearance, the boy was surprisingly agile and swiftly dodged Chu Li's hand.

Feeling slightly annoyed now, Chu Li seized the boy's shoulder and forcefully pulled him aside.

To his surprise, the boy in front of him was unexpectedly delicate. With that tug, he stumbled and fell to the ground, sending the water glass toppling over with a loud 'crash'.

The cup shattered, spilling its contents across the floor, and the paper slipped out, landing in the puddle.

Chu Li immediately checked the paper on the ground. The ink had completely dissolved, leaving only a blank sheet behind.

Relieved, he picked up the A5-sized paper, unfolded it, and said, "This isn't a test paper. The paper used for tests is different."

However, the boy's focus was no longer on the test paper. Sitting on the floor, he wailed loudly, "Chu Li! You actually grabbed my shoulder! And you pulled me down!"

The volume of his voice momentarily stunned Chu Li.

"I didn't mean to," Chu Li hesitated but still chose to apologize, "I'm sorry, let me help you up."

He reached out, but the other person slapped his hand away. "Scram! Don't touch me! Were you just trying to touch my gland? You despicable scoundrel! To use such tactics in competing against me!! Mom... Mom, help, he wants to touch my gland!"

    Chu Li: "...."

This boy looked to be around twenty years old as well. Was it appropriate for a twenty-year-old man to collapse on the ground and bawl his eyes out after being pulled down?

Chu Li's patience had run its course, and his expression turned cold. "It was you who barged into my room and touched my belongings without permission."

Just as he finished speaking, a woman's voice came from the living room. "Yang Yang, what happened to Yang Yang?"

At the mention of "Yang Yang," Chu Li immediately understood that the person sitting on the ground and refusing to get up was likely the "Chu Heyang" mentioned in the original host's will.

The original host had said that "the Chu Heyang family is deeply suspicious." In less than two hours since his transmigration, Chu Li had already keenly felt what it meant to be overly suspicious.

Not just suspicious, but bordering on paranoia!

A short and plump woman rushed to Chu Heyang's side, supporting him with concern while she frantically cried out, "He touched your gland?! To the hospital! We must go to the hospital!"

Apparently, a slight brush against the shoulder was indeed a serious matter. Unlike Chu Heyang, who had persistently accosted Chu Li, the woman hurriedly helped Chu Heyang out, panic etched on her face.

Passing by Chu Li, he shot him a fierce glare and sternly reprimanded, "Clean up your room before we return! I'll deal with you when I'm back!"
