Chapter 298
by 运粮仓鼠Chapter 298
The feeling of resting in his brand-new bedroom was much better than Lorant had imagined.
Any thought of discomfort was unfounded; Lorant slept well from the very first night.
The previous night, he had sat on the bay window of his second-floor bedroom for a long time. The bottom of the bay window was transparent, giving the sensation of floating above the pool if he looked down. Afterward, he walked around the entire house several times until he was tired, before finally taking a bath and falling asleep.
Not only was Lorant extremely satisfied with the house, but his beast pets also took a liking to their new home.
First and foremost, their activity area had greatly expanded. Especially Maomao, for whom the three-story house, both upstairs and downstairs, became a brand-new playground. For Maomao, Fa Meng’s baby, and the other little ones like Little Qing and Little Black, every corner of the house was a new adventure.
As soon as they arrived home, they excitedly explored every corner.
The first floor consisted of necessary functional rooms like the living room, dining room, and gym. The entire second floor was Lorant’s large bedroom, while the basement was Lorant’s laboratory. Conveniently, the basement was fully connected to the underground research lab of the beast pet shop, making Lorant’s work much more convenient.
With this underground network, Lorant’s control over the beast pet shop had improved further.
After coming up from the stairs, Maomao chose a spot in front of a small sofa and brought over her own little nest.
The Dream Weaver Xiao Bai also had her new home. Since the current bedroom space was larger than the entire previous house, Lorant had arranged a huge, floor-to-ceiling luxurious nest for Xiao Bai, who preferred to stay in the bedroom and not move around much.
As the most luxurious configuration in the beast pet shop, the nest provided a place to play, eat, drink, and have a comfortable nest. Except when working at night, the Dream Weaver could stay happily alone in that room, which resembled a large cat nest.
This gift made Xiao Bai very happy, and she clung to Lorant’s arm, rubbing against him with little hearts floating above her head for a long time.
Of course, the little red heart was a considerate manifestation by Fa Meng.
Bear Two’s living space hadn’t changed much from before, or rather, not much at all.
After all, Lorant needed to hold Bear Two every night to fall asleep, and usually, the Furious Ragdoll Bear was too lazy to move, spending most of its time in bed.
Lorant’s new bed was indeed much larger than before. Considering his beast pets, he had a craftsman make a three-meter-wide bed.
At first, Bear Two was quite active, training together with Maomao and the other beast pets. But after more interaction with Fa Meng’s baby and the others, Bear Two gradually became lazier.
It realized that in terms of fighting ability, no matter how hard it tried, it could never surpass those two.
However, Bear Two wasn’t discouraged at all. Although it gave up on increasing its combat strength, having grown up watching over Lorant, it understood that besides protecting him with strength, it could do many other things.
Even if its strength wasn’t enough, it could stay by Lorant’s side and soothe his heart.
All it needed to do was offer its fluffy soft belly to its young master every day!
A lazy little bear lying on the bed thought with a smile on its face.
Lorant stretched lazily and drew back the curtains, enjoying the tranquility in front of the house.
Originally, his biggest regret was that every morning when he opened the curtains and windows, he couldn’t hear the birds singing. But now, even without the birds, he could hear the faint sounds of the Wingless Flywheels flying high in the early morning.
This made the morning feel even more serene.
However, even with the temperature-regulating spell covering the entire residential area, the cold wind on the winter morning still made Lorant shiver.
He quickly retreated into his room to warm up.
Fa Meng had rewritten the rules for the residential area of the beast pet shop, limiting the volume of external sounds and weakening the beast pets’ calls countless times.
This let Lorant sleep soundly in a place not far from the lake.
After casually throwing on some everyday clothes in the enormous walk-in closet, Lorant headed downstairs, as was his routine.
Joe was already waiting quietly downstairs, with several servants behind him carrying breakfast trays.
Seeing his master come down, Joe waved his hand, and the servants immediately brought the breakfast to the table overlooking the garden.
"Good morning, Joe," Lorant lazily greeted Joe. "Where is everyone else eating?"
As Joe pulled out a dining chair, he said, "Anne is preparing breakfast for Madam and the second young master in the sunroom, and there are also people who can deliver breakfast to the rooms of those who don't want to go to the sunroom. Please rest assured, Master."
"What about Lance?"
Joe was slightly stunned, then said, "Just like young master Silem and the others, there are servants waiting, depending on the Cavendish Earl's wishes."
Lorant stretched again and went to the counter to get himself a glass of water. "In that case, serve Lance’s and my breakfast in the small conservatory, so we can eat together."
The small conservatory he referred to was a hexagonal glass greenhouse in the middle of two houses, accessible through a descending step from the back door of his room.
Several Lightwing butterflies were happily playing inside, and when they saw Lorant, they flew over to show their affection.
These little ones were personally chosen by Lancelot, and when combined, they could help him unleash power far beyond his own capabilities in battle, making it easier to fight above his level.
It is said that now, not only can he face eighth-level practitioners, but with the help of these beast pets, he can even withstand a ninth-level practitioner for some time.
Lancelot treasured these little ones dearly and took great care of them. Even Little Seven had been jealous several times because of this, and it took Lorant a long time to coax him.
As soon as Lorant sat down, Lancelot, carrying a bit of water vapor, walked in.
Unlike Lorant, who could sleep in every day, Lancelot had already finished his morning training and had taken all of Lorant's beast pets out for a short run.
"Oh, this place is really nice," Lancelot sat opposite Lorant, looking around at the vibrant flowers and the lingering Lightwing butterflies with great satisfaction.
He hadn't noticed this place the day before, and it was only when Joe led him there that he realized such a spot existed in his house.
This small conservatory was hidden between two houses, obscured by plants, and was a partially underground structure, making it hard to spot if you weren't looking carefully.
"Did you sleep well?" Lorant took a portion of oatmeal and asked casually.
"Very well," Lancelot stabbed a piece of sausage. "I have to say, copying your room was the best decision. I’ve never felt so at home anywhere else."
"Those old nobles stuck in their castles are truly unfortunate," Lancelot shook his head. "I feel sorry for them when they are proud of living in a castle."
Lorant smiled and bypassed the topic. "By the way, the cold season is almost here. This year, Pokara has some breathing room. Will your family gather this time?"
"Probably the two of them will find time to meet," Lancelot said indifferently. "Since I was sixteen, they haven't included me in the festivities."
Lorant chuckled, finding Lindbergh and Diana rather amusing.
"Then it's just right to spend the festival at the beast pet shop. Speaking of which, you haven't forgotten that firework spell of yours, have you?"
"How could I! That's a spell I specially modified!" Lancelot retorted. "I put in a lot of effort for that!"
Lorant raised an eyebrow. "How come I remember someone saying it was just a little thing they whipped up casually?"
Lancelot smiled. "Well, dear shop owner, back then, I didn't have the courage to pursue you directly! Look, I've had designs on you for quite some time. If you pity me, why not agree?"
"Get outta here! A whole year isn’t exactly short, you know?"
Lorant laughed and scolded, but the sparkling starlight in his eyes couldn't hide his good mood.
Up until now, the two of them still haven't confirmed their relationship, which is clearly starting to make Lancelot appear somewhat anxious, always eager for a title like a young man.
"As long as you want to see it, I'm willing to set off dazzling fireworks for you anytime." Lancelot stared at Lorant seriously, his deep blue eyes so captivating that anyone could easily lose themselves in them.
Naturally, Lorant was happy, but he still proudly tilted his head. He was just about to tease Lancelot that this was something a pursuer should do when he suddenly heard a 'ding' in his head.
"What's wrong?" Lancelot nervously grabbed Lorant's wrist, concerned by the sudden change in the boy's expression.
Lorant slowly shifted his unfocused gaze to Lancelot's face, his mouth opening but no sound coming out for a long time.
He hadn't expected it, but the ability chart in his mind suddenly completed a simulation without any warning.
Shaking his head at Lancelot to indicate he was fine, Lorant quickly began to inspect just what kind of surprise beast companion had appeared.
Opening the ability chart, Lorant saw a highlighted gray entry in the E-level directory at the very bottom.
"Firework Sprite": a small beast companion that can produce small firecrackers that can be lit directly and possesses the ability to ignite them directly.
Though Lorant felt a bit let down that it was just an E-level creature, he couldn't help but smile when he saw its name and ability description.
"Lancelot, I suddenly have an idea."
"What is it?" Lancelot looked at Lorant, who had suddenly become excited, with concern.
"What do you think about us creating some firework-producing beast companions and setting them off during the Cold Season Festival?" Lorant looked at Lancelot eagerly. "When the time comes, I'm going to cover the entire Mauplan with fireworks!"
Now it was Lancelot's turn to stare at Lorant with a look of disbelief, his mouth slightly agape.
Can you really create beast companions just by thinking about them?
Seeing his look of disbelief, Lorant could no longer hold back and burst into laughter.
"Last year you set off fireworks for me, so now it's my turn!"
