Chapter 326
by 运粮仓鼠Chapter 326
Fa Meng and Jacqueline flanked the Giant Sandworm, preventing the massive beast from paying attention to Lorant's actions.
Several Wingless Flywheels ramped up their Laser Beams, creating a plume of smoke on the rocks.
All three were in a race against time with the Giant Sandworm.
Everyone knew that the two of them couldn't withstand the Giant Sandworm for long; all they could do was stall for time.
As soon as Fa Meng clashed with the ugly beast, it immediately sensed the terrifying power of its opponent.
Even Fa Meng, before reaching maturity, wasn't confident it could defeat its opponent one-on-one, and might even be instantly overwhelmed by the legendary beast.
Fa Meng's strength lies in its rule-based abilities, but against stronger beings, these abilities are significantly diminished, and it can't act as freely as it does against lower-tier creatures.
Fortunately, with Jacqueline's aid, Fa Meng, a 'pseudo-legendary beast,' could confront the Giant Sandworm directly.
Close combat isn't Fa Meng's strong suit, so it quickly repositioned itself when the Giant Sandworm was briefly restrained by Jacqueline, summoning a large tome beside it.
Mysterious characters from the book flashed with golden light, transforming into numerous chains that erupted from the grimoire, piercing into the Giant Sandworm's body and firmly binding it.
This time, the Giant Sandworm couldn't escape Fa Meng's rule-based powers as it had with the Thunder Serpents.
Although it couldn't compel the Giant Sandworm to obey its rules, Fa Meng could at least curb some of the beast's actions to a certain extent, as even diminished rule-based powers could still exert some influence.
The Giant Sandworm bellowed in pain, and the surrounding dunes churned once more, with massive sand waves surging like ocean waves from the horizon, crashing towards Fa Meng.
Fa Meng, immobilized because it was pressing down on the Giant Sandworm's tail, had to hold its ground.
A small umbrella rose beside it and opened with a snap towards the sand wave.
Though just a small floral umbrella, it forcefully halted the advance of the sand wave.
Seeing this, the Giant Sandworm grew even angrier. Behind Fa Meng, a raised tail tip suddenly emerged from the dunes, striking hard at Fa Meng.
The Giant Sandworm's body length far exceeded everyone's expectations. The part of its body that Fa Meng was holding down to prevent it from attacking Lorant was actually just a portion of its body, closer to its head. Its real tail was buried deep within the dunes.
This caught Fa Meng off guard, and it was struck squarely by the Giant Sandworm's tail.
However, the expected devastating scene didn't occur. Another book, almost as tall as Fa Meng, appeared behind it, blocking the blow.
Although the book shattered and fell afterward, Fa Meng itself remained unharmed.
It is the grimoire, the embodiment of rules, and harming it near the grimoire is not so easy.
Seeing the Giant Sandworm's attention drawn to Fa Meng, Jacqueline immediately began chanting a powerful spell.
As she threw out a large number of fire gems, a massive flame erupted around the Giant Sandworm.
"Fire Magic. Infernal Flame!"
This legendary-level spell successfully wounded the Giant Sandworm, which writhed in pain under the scorching flames.
Even with its formidable body strength, it could still be injured by legendary-level magic, though its monstrous vitality allowed it to recover quickly from such injuries.
The sandstorm, controlled by the Giant Sandworm, became more violent but somewhat disorganized in its attacks on the two.
Jacqueline's face lit up with joy. She knew that although this spell had drained a third of her mana, it still wasn't enough to seriously harm the terrifying creature.
But having this creature distracted for a while was enough for them.
Jacqueline immediately used her magic again: "Giant's Hand!"
A pair of huge skeletal hands materialized out of thin air on either side of the Giant sandworm. The massive skeletal hands clenched the Giant sandworm's neck with great force, in a crushing grip.
However, this only managed to reduce the Giant sandworm's thrashing for a brief moment.
It was in this moment, as the Giant sandworm's head movement slowed, that Fa Meng quickly summoned a massive wrench out of thin air.
Lorant, watching the Wingless Flywheel effortlessly cut through the rocks underground, naturally had time to glance up at the battlefield above.
When he saw the wrench, he couldn't help but grimace. Based on Lorant's understanding of Fa Meng, the little dragon probably wanted to conjure a dentist's specialized pliers but failed.
Sure enough, the next moment, Fa Meng forcefully jammed the wrench into the Giant sandworm's mouth.
The Giant sandworm's mouthparts were basically the front part of its body. When it opened its mouth wide, it was clear that its body, stretching hundreds of meters, was lined with countless ring-shaped teeth.
These teeth were densely packed, layered upon each other, a grotesque sight.
Fa Meng clamped onto one of the outermost teeth and yanked with all its strength.
The Giant sandworm, in pain, quickly broke free from the Giant's Hand that had been holding its body in place. Its mountain-like body, bound by magical restraints, began to struggle restlessly.
But its movements worked in Fa Meng's favor. Fa Meng had already clamped onto the tooth, and both it and the Giant sandworm pulled forward with force.
Crack!
With a crisp sound, the pliers in Fa Meng's hands, which had been tightly gripping the tooth, suddenly lost their grip and, driven by Fa Meng's force, slammed into the Giant sandworm's throat.
Fa Meng had used so much force that it nearly lost its balance and fell into the Giant sandworm's mouth. Fortunately, it adjusted in time and quickly regained its footing.
The massive dragon beast swiftly retracted its claws, holding a full ring of teeth in the huge pliers.
An entire ring, in fact.
Fa Meng had managed to rip out an entire ring of teeth from the Giant sandworm's mouth!
Each ring of the Giant sandworm's teeth was connected by hard bone, so Fa Meng, intending to pull out just one tooth, ended up pulling out an entire ring.
However, Lorant was quite pleased with this unexpected outcome.
Just then, the Wingless Flywheels finally completed their task. The rock containing the Giant sandworm's eggs was neatly severed from the ground.
Lorant grabbed it and immediately stored it in the special space he had prepared.
Generally, living creatures cannot be placed in spatial rings or other extradimensional storage tools because these spaces lack the oxygen needed to survive. Thus, any living creature placed inside would quickly perish.
But Lorant had seen this coming.
He had long asked Joe to keep an eye out and shelled out a fortune for the spatial belt he now wore around his waist.
Living creatures could survive in this belt's space for up to six hours, and unhatched eggs like these could last even longer.
Lorant had tested this with the eggs of secondary beasts from his pet shop, and they could survive for at least ten hours.
If they were periodically taken out and put back in, the time could be extended further. In any case, it should be enough to last until Lorant and the others escaped the Giant sandworm's pursuit.
"Got it!" Lorant shouted to Fa Meng the moment he stored the eggs. "Hand over the teeth as well!"
The little fat dragon threw the 'ring of teeth' it was holding directly onto the ground, then turned and swung a claw at the Giant sandworm's head, once again helping to relieve Jacqueline's burden.
The Giant sandworm, after its eggs disappeared, became extremely frenzied. Its completely maddened state posed a significant challenge for both Jacqueline and Fa Meng.
Even working together, they now felt as though they couldn't suppress this massive creature.
Lorant rode forward to where the large ring of teeth had dropped, reaching out to store it in another prepared large space. With both required materials secured, Lorant had no desire to continue the fight.
"Go! Let's get out of here, let's go! Don't worry about it!" Lorant shouted with all his might.
The sandstorm raged around them, and as soon as Lorant opened his mouth, he felt the gale shoving sand into it.
But he had no choice; if he didn't shout loudly, even with an amplifying spell, the two above probably wouldn't hear anything.
The frenzied wind would shred the sound just two meters from his mouth.
In fact, despite Lorant's strenuous shouting, neither Jacqueline nor Fa Meng above could hear him.
Lorant overestimated his voice and underestimated the noise generated by the terrifying storm around them.
But Fa Meng had some ability to connect with Lorant's thoughts.
It was originally a manifestation of rules that emerged from Lorant's consciousness, and although it couldn't communicate directly at the soul level like a ghost spider, it could still sense Lorant's intentions.
So Fa Meng immediately began to half-heartedly engage with the Giant sandworm. Behind it, a flying boat was slowly forming on the pages of the grimoire, amidst frantic page-turning and the weaving of countless rules, which momentarily left Fa Meng unable to counter the Giant sandworm.
Jacqueline, positioned behind the Giant sandworm's head, sensed Fa Meng's shift and understood Lorant's plan.
She immediately ramped up her attack intensity, and under her relentless assault, the Giant sandworm had to angrily turn its head to focus its main attention on the witch.
Looking at the legendary beast, its body exposed outside the sand dune and already covered in wounds, Jacqueline once again felt the urge to kill it outright.
In her view, this Giant sandworm was one of the less formidable types among legendary beasts; at least her attacks could leave marks on it, proving that the Giant sandworm was definitely not invincible.
This might not be the right time, but later she wanted to find another opportunity to return with Lorant and see if there was a chance to subdue this massive creature.
Although Lorant's resource theory made sense, Jacqueline still couldn't resist the temptation of personally slaying a legendary beast.
However, just as she was pondering this, a sudden change occurred deep in the desert!
