Chapter 55: Just Say What It Wants

Originally, it could have been done by February 5th, or at the latest February 8th, but Shu Yangkuo insisted that the embryo needed a full month to settle, meaning February 12th, the evening of the first day of the New Year. Shi Zai had been sulking about this for several days, and by New Year's Eve, he deliberately avoided bringing it up.

Shi Zai had his back turned to the man. When Shu Yangkuo yanked him backward into his arms, he struggled a bit, muttering, "Ugh, I've been so tired these past couple of days, what’s the big idea?" Then he deliberately made a "purring" sound, but the man just said, "Cuddle to sleep." Shi Zai paused, then slammed the back of his head hard into Shu Yangkuo's chest, unexpectedly bringing tears to his own eyes from the impact.

But the tiredness was indeed real.

After the beginning of spring on February 5th, the family of three had been busy every day preparing for the New Year. This was their first New Year together since fate had miraculously brought them together, and it was also the first time in Shi Zai's twenty years that he had looked forward to the holiday so much—it was incredibly joyful and warm.

Ji Qianxi's family, Yan Wei's family, along with Qin Xihan, Bai Jixiang, and Jiang Ziqing, who had finally finished filming by year's end—about ten people in total—gathered at one house or another during the day, spending more than half their time at Shi Zai's place. It was very cozy and lively.

On New Year's Eve, everyone stayed up until 3 a.m., keeping vigil. Some played cards, some watched TV dramas, and some gathered to chat—the latter was initiated by Jiang Ziqing, who sat cross-legged by the balcony with Yang Yun, Bai Jixiang, and Qin Xihan. He had brought back quite a few celebrity photos, showing them one by one and asking which ones they liked. Among them, Yang Yun was the youngest at seventeen, Jiang Ziqing was almost nineteen, while Bai Jixiang was twenty-two and Qin Xihan was nineteen—all around the same age. No matter their personalities, they were all familiar with each other by then, so there were no topics off-limits.

Yang Yun glanced at one photo, then another, pursed his lips and said, "None of them are as handsome as my big brother and little brother." Jiang Ziqing teased him, "Your big brother and little brother already have a child, and you're still hung up on them?" This made Yang Yun so angry that he went to tattle. Shortly after, Shu Yangkuo came over and confiscated the alcohol Jiang Ziqing had secretly brought, and Jiang Ziqing stopped teasing their little brother. Turning around, Qin Xihan was staring intently at Yang Yun. Jiang Ziqing chuckled and whispered to Bai Jixiang beside him, "I think it's not Qin Xihan, but the goof. Yun Bao definitely isn’t his to have." Not hearing a response, Jiang Ziqing, who had had a bit too much to drink, turned to look at Bai Jixiang. He saw that the other, usually straightforward and gentle, now had a look in his eyes that felt inexplicably intense. Rubbing his eyes, Jiang Ziqing was about to speak when he heard Bai Jixiang laugh softly and ask, "Zi Qing, did you only learn how to judge people in the entertainment industry?" leaving Jiang Ziqing stunned.

On the sofa, Yan Wei curled his lip and said to the person next to him:

    "How do you feel?"

    "..."

"Tsk, every one of your family members is more charming than the last. That little doctor, Zheng Yuan, has already agreed to switch positions after the New Year."

    "Thanks."

Hearing this, Yan Wei rolled his eyes and turned slightly to speak:

"But I’m a bit curious. You’ve set up quite the moral standard for yourself, so why not for Xiao Zai? The whole department knows about Xiao Zai. Every time you two go there, after he leaves, I have to hold a refocus meeting. Why is he getting more and more unruly?"

"Let him play; he knows his limits."

    "...Hah."

Just as he was about to continue mocking, a figure darted over—it was Shi Zai, leaving the card table to burrow into Shu Yangkuo's arms, letting himself be held for two minutes. Lately, with no work during the day, the man could hold him whenever, but with the busy New Year preparations, Shi Zai seized every opportunity to make sure Shu Yangkuo held him at least once every hour. Nestled in his arms, he waved his cards and shouted at the table, "Four sixes, I bombed you!"

Yan Wei scoffed again from the side.

He also shot a glare at the man at the card table who seemed about to stand up.

After the person in his arms flew away again, Shu Yangkuo took a sip of water and said:

"Xiao Zai is quite mischievous. Whoever loses tonight will face a pretty heavy punishment."

    "..."

After the other person on the sofa went to watch the card game, Shu Yangkuo glanced at Zheng Yuan and soon received a text: "I’ve looked over those New Year’s greetings meant for your partner." Shu Yangkuo continued watching TV; it was quite interesting, a story about a little dog that joyfully runs into a lion’s den every day after playing wildly. Not long after, shouts came from the card table: "Hubby, come quick and help me, I’m about to lose!"

Shu Yangkuo said, "Coming," but first walked to the balcony and simply said, "What’s all the noise?" The four people who had been arguing and then frozen fell silent. Yang Yun made a face and went to sit next to Bai Jixiang, leaning in to play with him.

After watching just one round, a sound came from the small bedroom, and Shu Yangkuo was the first to move. Shi Zai shouted from behind, "I’m about to lose over here, and you’re going to check on someone else’s kid? Don’t you dare scold Xiang Xiang, or I’ll deal with you tonight!" Everyone at the table laughed. "Xiao Zai is getting more and more fierce!" Shi Zai shook his head proudly. "Of course! My man is as obedient as a cat. Now you’ve seen it, right?"

Because he was showing off too much about his man, Shi Zai lost that night, but it wasn’t a big deal. The punishment wasn’t severe—just adding his partner’s name when replying to everyone’s New Year’s messages: "Shi Zai and his husband Shu Yangkuo wish you a happy New Year, full of joy and laughter, hehe."

On the morning of New Year’s Day, they exchanged greetings with ordinary friends, went to the temple fair together in the afternoon, and had dinner at Yan Wei’s place before returning home. Honestly, it was tiring, but the excitement and warmth in their hearts had long since overshadowed the fatigue. That little bit of tiredness was nothing.

At night, the moon was bright and the stars twinkled, with early spring already in the air, but the two inside the window had already entered spring.

After Shi Zai was bumped to tears, he tried to move away but was pulled back. Shu Yangkuo slightly raised himself to look at the face of the struggling puppy in his arms, noticing his eyes darting under closed eyelids. Unable to hold back a laugh, he leaned down and kissed the big eyes.

Instantly, Shi Zai opened his eyes:

    "Hubby, what are you doing?"

    "..."

    "Shouldn’t you say something? Speak!"

"...Comforting my wife. Does it still hurt?"

Furious, Shi Zai immediately tried to get out of bed, wanting to get away from this old fox.

Pulling him back into his arms, Shu Yangkuo’s ears turned slightly red as he said with difficulty:

    "Wife, is it okay?"

    "I don’t understand!"

    "..."

"What do you mean 'is it okay'? Is it okay to wake up later tomorrow morning? Is it okay to eat apples without peeling them? Is it okay to eat jelly late at night? Or is 'ice and fire' okay?!"

Hearing this, Shu Yangkuo fell silent for a moment. What nonsense.

The person in his arms really closed his eyes again. Shu Yangkuo shifted his lower body back slightly, but the person in his arms pressed forward abruptly. He grunted, tightened his grip around the waist, and said with difficulty again:

    "Doesn’t wifey feel it?"

"...I do feel it, but I don’t know what it wants to do."

    "..."

"Quick, say it—what does it want to do?"

Not understanding why he was being forced to say it, Shu Yangkuo closed his eyes, pressed his lips to the tip of the person’s ear, and whispered three words: "Fuck wifey." Then he immediately pressed him down, turning his face for a deep kiss while using his hand to part his legs.

They fooled around until almost dawn. After it was over, Shi Zai was still dazedly savoring the feeling. It had been almost two months since the floodgates opened! So comfortable and satisfying! It should have ended earlier—he couldn’t take it anymore—but he couldn’t resist saying, "Brother, you’re still as skilled as ever," and was held tightly and thoroughly dealt with one more time. Even though the night was long, Shi Zai knew it was nothing for the man, who had also gone without for two months—at most, it was an appetizer. So he deliberately provoked him, thinking that as long as they were careful, it would be fine. Besides, it was the man with the pregnant belly doing him, not the other way around... The difference was huge. Even if the man’s movements were vigorous, the baby could just treat it like swinging, hehe.

The three-month pregnant belly wasn’t very noticeable yet, probably because the man was so tall, making the baby seem smaller.

But when Shi Zai was in the man’s arms, pressed tightly against him, he could feel it a little. He had just reached down to touch when his hand was grabbed and pulled away. Shi Zai continued to act up, humming, "Hubby, don’t get me pregnant too," which drove the man even wilder.

Since they didn’t sleep until dawn, Shi Zai undoubtedly woke up late.

When he was led out of the bedroom, the living room was already full of people. Tan Xun laughed and said, "Shouldn’t it be Yangkuo who overslept? How is it still Xiao Zai?" The whole room burst into laughter. Shi Zai, unusually thin-skinned, stayed silent, but Shu Yangkuo smiled and said, "It’s normal for the younger one to sleep in."

As soon as the man finished speaking, Shi Zai punched him. The words sounded familiar—last night, he’d been called "greedy."

Shi Zai snorted, no longer embarrassed, and sat next to Yan Wei to seek advice: "After three months, can we do it often and freely? How often do you two do it?" Yan Wei blushed and froze, while Zheng Yuan directly stood up and walked away to the window.

Shu Yangkuo handed Zheng Yuan a cup of hot milk. Zheng Yuan glanced at Shu Yangkuo, then at the hot milk, and said, "I really need this to calm my nerves."

Before Yan Wei could respond, Xiang Xiang popped out from behind the sofa:

"Whenever I get kicked out of the big bedroom by Daddy!"

    "Hahahaha..."

The room erupted in laughter once again.

The child didn't fully understand these matters, but he could vaguely sense that his Dad and father were doing something together.

    Shi Zai doubled over laughing:

    "Xiang Xiang is so clever!"

After everyone had laughed their fill, Yan Wei rolled his eyes and said to Shi Zai:

"Who's the one suffering from three years of pregnancy brain? Was it when my silly son was born?"

    "...Oh right! Hahahaha!"

Hearing this, Xiang Xiang shouted from nearby:

"I'm not silly! Daddy said he started my prenatal education early, I'm very smart! Godfather Zai, I'll give you prenatal education—no, wait, it should be for Godfather Yang Kuo!"

With that, Xiang Xiang ran over. The day before, his godfather had made him happy with just a few words, so today he liked him even more.

Yang Kuo helplessly sat down, while the little one stood in front of him and sang everything from "A Little Pug Dog" to "Black Cat Sheriff." After finishing all the songs, he pulled Jiang Ziqing over: "Brother Ziqing can dance! Dance for Godfather and the baby!"

As soon as he said it, the room went wild.

Shi Zai laughed loudly and pulled the stunned Jiang Ziqing aside. Xiang Xiang then called for Brother Pink Cheeks to sing "Catching Loaches." After Yang Yun was also pulled away by Shi Zai, Xiang Xiang burst into tears because his suggestions were being ignored.

Eventually, Xiang Xiang's whimsical "prenatal education" concluded with Shu Yangkuo patiently sitting in front of the TV with him to watch cartoons.

After the New Year passed, Shi Zai took this matter to heart. Every day, when he went next door to spend time with the man, he would bring along all sorts of little things he had bought, leaning in close to the man's pregnant belly and muttering about what each item was for and how fun they were.

Shu Yangkuo had switched to a recliner. Whenever Shi Zai came over, he would pull him into his arms, holding him sideways against his chest, closing his eyes to rest while letting the other do as he pleased. However, he felt the baby in his belly was just as mischievous—by late February, he could faintly sense fetal movement. It was very subtle, but he let Shi Zai listen once. Although Shi Zai couldn't feel it as clearly, he grew fascinated with listening to the belly, resting his head on the man's chest, eyes fixed on the slightly swollen pregnant belly, occasionally touching it with his fingertips, growing more and more excited for Wang Wang's arrival.

By mid-March, the fetal movements became more pronounced, and Shi Zai was overjoyed. Fortunately, whenever the two of them fooled around, the baby stayed quiet.
