    Chapter 73: Wang Wang's Day

The little one didn't believe for a second that Daddy had gone to buy candy, as he'd been with Daddy countless times to get melting beans.

To help Second Brother give First Brother a—ahem—surprise they didn't quite grasp, they had to keep Wang Wang calm and prevent him from crying, even if it cost them an arm and a leg. When he cried, they felt just as heartbroken and upset as First Brother and Second Brother. The little guy was naturally adorable and endearing.

His personality was increasingly mirroring Second Brother's: lively and cheerful, warm-hearted and thoughtful, yet also quite mischievous with a touch of temper. Initially, he possessed some of First Brother's steadiness and calmness, but now that he could crawl, stand, and even take a few steps while holding onto things, he'd even tried to open the door himself to find Daddy after waking up. When he threw a tantrum, he was hard to hold, bouncing around like a spring. He'd listen when coaxed, but if he didn't get the answer he wanted, he'd puff out his little chest and wail, "Daddy—Daddy—," like a tiny tiger cub. When tired, he'd sit on the ground, pouting and feeling sorry for himself.

Fortunately, his crying fit lasted only about fifteen minutes, as the two began using various toys and games to completely engross Wang Wang. One toy after another, they let him ride a "big horse," held him to play "airplane," bounced around to music, played hide-and-seek, swung him in a blanket, had crawling races, held him up to touch the wall, and passed him around in an obstacle course. Yang Yun and Qin Xihan were so exhausted they felt like sticking out their tongues, but the little guy was having so much fun he completely forgot about Daddy.

After nearly two hours of playing without a single thought for Daddy, it was time for lunch. They purposely delayed it a bit, thinking that if Wang Wang was hungry enough, they could feed him quickly, and he'd usually nap soon after. That way, when he woke up, it would already be afternoon.

However, the plan sounded great in theory, but the reality was something they didn't want to recall—the little one, both hungry and missing Daddy and Papa, cried until he started spitting, refusing to eat and kicking and thrashing, wanting to go out and find Daddy. The little guy had never had a meal without Daddy.

Eventually, he got so upset he started grabbing and hitting wildly, even pretending to be a stiff little fish, with his tiny feet and head hanging down and his belly arched high, making it impossible to hold him, let alone feed him. Seeing that this wasn't working, Qin Xihan worriedly said:

    "Otherwise..."

"How do we find them? Second Brother left their phones here with us."

"...Second Brother said, if there's really no other way, we can go over..."

"To watch the live show! Ah—"

Yang Yun got a smack on the head, pouted, and continued:

"First Brother must be having the time of his life today..."

    "Are you envious?"

Qin Xihan's tone wasn't cold, just calm and even, but Yang Yun gulped and quickly shook his head, not daring to be envious.

Should they go or not? The decision was up to him. Yang Yun thought for a moment, then slapped his forehead and whispered in the little one's ear, "Get up, Wang Wang, let's go find Daddy." Hearing this, Wang Wang immediately stopped pretending to be a dried fish, clinging to him, waving his arms and legs excitedly, pointing at the door and kicking his legs so hard they thumped loudly. Yang Yun quietly took a deep breath—wow, this sturdy little fellow.

Once out the door, under Qin Xihan's somewhat uncomfortable expression and Wang Wang's expectant gaze, Yang Yun held back a laugh:

"Wang Wang, guess where Daddy is now and what he's doing?"

"Don't talk nonsense to Wang Wang."

Warned with a cold glare, Yang Yun shook his head and looked into Wang Wang's big eyes:

"Just listen, Han Ge. Wang Wang, Daddy really went to buy candy for you—a super sweet, super fragrant candy. Smell it—it's even sweeter than melting beans. Sniff—"

    "Sniff—"

    "Hahaha, want some?"

    "Uh-huh..."

Seeing the little one gradually calm down, occasionally kicking excitedly in his arms with giggles, Yang Yun continued:

"But this kind of candy is only available where the cows are. Daddy has to turn into a cow and work in the fields all day... ah no, eat lots of grass in the cow pen, to make the candy. Let's go see Daddy as a cow in the cow pen, okay?"

    "Cow, cow?"

"Yes, Daddy is a cow today, super fun. Let's go see, okay?"

    "Okay!"

Wang Wang waved his little fists and actually said "Okay!" Yang Yun was instantly shocked, poking Qin Xihan and asking if he heard it. Qin Xihan sighed softly—he was right there, not deaf. Yang Yun's story was really fitting for his age, and only Wang Wang would believe it.

Soon, they reached the countryside stroll area and found the cow pen. Wang Wang excitedly shouted:

    "Daddy—Daddy—"

    "Hahahahahaha..."

    "Daddy?"

"...Yes, that's Daddy. See the tallest, strongest one in the middle? That's Daddy."

The little one followed the pointing finger and saw—it was Daddy! Daddy-turned-cow was busy eating grass, even glanced his way and swished his tail. Wang Wang excitedly clenched his little fists and waved them wildly, giggling "pfft pfft." Daddy hadn't been taken away by the "old monkey spirit" Papa mentioned; Daddy had turned into a cow! Daddy was making candy for him!

Seeing the little one like this, Yang Yun quickly opened his lunchbox—ordered from the hotel, kept warm in a thermos, a bowl of pumpkin mash mixed with ground meat. Qin Xihan held it while Yang Yun fed him, gently patting Wang Wang's little arm:

"Daddy eats grass, Wang Wang eats mush, okay?"

    "Daddy!"

"Yes, Daddy is eating his meal, Wang Wang needs to eat too, or you won't have the strength to eat candy, okay?"

    "Okay!"

"Wow, our Wang Wang is so good! Open wide, ah—what a clever little mouth!"

And so, Wang Wang, already hungry, now happy, quickly finished the whole bowl of mush.

After eating, he didn't want to go back to sleep, pointing at the "cow" and wanting the cow to hold him. Yang Yun had no choice but to keep lying:

"Wang Wang has to turn into a cow too to go in and let the cow hold you. Want to become a cow?"

    "Cow, cow?"

"Yes, a cow, become a cow..."

    "Cow!"

Tsk, such father-son devotion. Yang Yun felt a headache coming on but steeled himself and kept coaxing:

"Wang Wang, close your eyes and you'll turn into a cow, okay?"

    "...Okay!"

The little one indeed closed his eyes, still excited, eyelids fluttering. Yang Yun spoke in a very soft, slow voice:

"Such a good Wang Wang, no peeking—Wow, Wang Wang is already a cow! Now Daddy is holding Wang Wang, don't open your eyes, or Daddy and the candy will disappear... Little cow touches big cow, big cow holds little cow. Our Wang Wang, the little cow, is so comfortable in Daddy cow's arms, right? Little cow needs to get plenty of sleep, and when you wake up, there will be Daddy and candy..."

    "Hmm..."

The little one, already tired from playing and getting sleepier, grew drowsy and actually fell asleep.

Yang Yun winked at Qin Xihan, persevered, cradled Wang Wang sideways in his arms, gently rocking him as he walked, repeating the lulling phrases: "Little cow touches big cow, big cow holds little cow," "Little cow needs to get plenty of sleep, and when you wake up, there will be Daddy and candy." Before long, the little one lifted a little fist to rub his eyes, then turned his face toward Yang Yun's chest and fell asleep against his heart.

The moment Wang Wang fell asleep against his chest, Yang Yun's heart melted completely, instantly understanding First Brother's feelings and emotions.

Having such a little guy in his arms, with another—ahem—by his side, truly felt content and comfortable.

Qin Xihan kept his gaze fixed ahead, but a faint blush gradually crept up the right side of his neck. He couldn't take it anymore, gently nudged the person beside him, and whispered a reminder, "Watch the road." Only then did the gaze, as intense as the summer sun, finally ease a little.

Back at the hotel, Yang Yun put Wang Wang down on the bed, gently patting him until he fell into a deep sleep. With his other hand, he tugged at Qin Xihan and said in a very low voice, "Han-ge, I can't do this by myself. What if Wang Wang wakes up crying?" As the person he was pulling tried to move toward the outer room, Yang Yun exerted a bit more force. "This... this bed is big. Let's both stay with him, Han-ge—"

More clingy than even Wang Wang, Qin Xihan glanced at Wang Wang, who shifted restlessly as if feeling insecure. Fine. He turned back and pushed Yang Yun. "Then you go out. I'll stay with him. I can handle it alone." Yang Yun: "..." What's with the pitiful act? Qin Xihan, stiff-faced and helpless, said, "I take up a lot of space when I sleep. Figure it out yourself." Yang Yun paused for a moment upon hearing this, then immediately replied, "Okay."

Two minutes later, Qin Xihan lay beside Wang Wang. After waiting a while, he glanced outward—Yang Yun was sitting on the floor beside his side of the bed.

    Suit yourself.

Qin Xihan turned on his side and patted Wang Wang, who was squirming a little, to help him sleep more peacefully. When they woke up together, Wang Wang was still a bit dazed, yawning and still groggy. Qin Xihan quickly brought a large parking lot playset onto the bed—thirty different types of vehicles needed to be placed in their corresponding spots on the picture. Qin Xihan picked up a fire truck and handed it to Wang Wang, teaching him to drive it into a parking space.

After his nap, Wang Wang’s mind was momentarily blank but quickly filled with cars. Soon, he was playing quietly and happily.

Just then, Qin Xihan noticed Yang Yun emerging from the bathroom. Feeling a bit warm himself, Qin Xihan shot him a look, signaling for Yang Yun to quietly take over while he went to take a shower. Entering the bathroom, he shivered from the chill, his face suddenly flushing. He quickly adjusted the water to a warmer temperature.

About half an hour before Big Brother and Little Brother returned, Wang Wang began to cry. In the afternoon, they had taken Wang Wang to see the cows again, as well as the big horses. They had pushed him on a swing and went fishing for plastic fish. Exhausted from all the fun, Wang Wang finally remembered he hadn’t seen his father and realized his father had never turned into a cow. He got upset, pouting and looking at them like they were the bad guys, refusing to let them touch him.

Because they had deceived him, Wang Wang now saw his father as a liar too, which was why he was angry when he saw him.

After briefly explaining, Yang Yun said with a grin:

"Big Brother, Wang Wang only cried for less than ten minutes in total. I’m really getting good at this! I can even handle kids now!"

    "..."

Yang Yun suddenly slapped his forehead:

"Haha, it's all thanks to Little Han!..."

    "No respect for your elders?"

"I was just following Big Brother’s way of addressing him, hehe."

Why was he still upset? Yang Yun touched his ear and pouted:

    "Han-ge—is that better?"

    "..."

Qin Xihan couldn’t be bothered to respond. He gently took Wang Wang’s hand—the toddler, now nestled in Big Brother’s arms, allowed himself to be touched and giggled at him. Qin Xihan then spread his arms toward Wang Wang and said to Big Brother:

"Big Brother, let me hold him. You'd better eat quickly. You didn’t even have lunch—"

Before he could finish, Qin Xihan abruptly stopped and bit his tongue. What was wrong with him today?

Big Brother’s ears turned red again, making him feel somewhat uneasy too.

Yang Yun, who had just opened the lunchbox for Big Brother, glanced over and exclaimed:

"Qin Xihan, worry about yourself! Stop overthinking... Han-ge, I was wrong. I’ll never be disrespectful again."

Sheepishly admitting his mistake, Yang Yun brought the meal over. But before he could hand it over, Big Brother stood up, holding Wang Wang, and said, "Not hungry," before striding away, even forgetting to close the door.

Hehe, beating a hasty retreat. The old guy was too embarrassed.

Yang Yun quickly chased after him and said thoughtfully, "Big Brother, why don’t you eat here with Wang Wang? We’ll go out to figure out dinner. Otherwise, if you go in, Wang Wang will definitely wake Little Brother up." The tall man stopped in his tracks. Before he could turn around, Yang Yun quickly pulled Qin Xihan away.
