Chapter 6 The Protagonist Uke and Four Suitors VI
byChapter 6: The Protagonist Uke and the Four Suitors (Part Six)
"I-I'm practicing... but are you in the wrong area?"
Why isn't he over with the protagonist uke instead of here with me?
"No, I didn't get the wrong place. Since you're here to train, be serious about it."
The man's gaze was sharp and stern as he spoke.
"Okay, okay."
Shu Xian stood ramrod straight.
Wuwu, he's so scary.
"Watch closely. I'll only demonstrate once."
Fu Yichen's tall, broad frame moved with ferocity and precision, each strike aimed at a vital point.
"Your turn."
Huh?
He was no naturally gifted protagonist uke. How could he possibly learn it after just one look?
"I... I didn't catch it all."
Shu Xian's voice trembled, his mind flooded with images of the original host being brutally beaten by Fu Yichen.
Wuwu, he was so scared, terrified that Fu Yichen might suddenly throw a punch at him.
"What are you afraid of?"
The boy before him hadn't even started sparring, yet his eyes were already reddening, as if he'd been bullied.
"It's fine."
Shu Xian sniffled, shaking his head to dispel the images from his mind.
He told himself there was nothing to be afraid of. The current Fu Yichen hadn't even met Li Wu yet.
The beatdown wasn't scheduled for this early.
"Copy me."
Fu Yichen found himself softening his tone, patiently guiding him.
Shu Xian, adopting a 'since I'm already here' mindset, also began to learn earnestly.
Soon, he had grasped the basic moves.
"Alright, pretend I'm an attacker. Use everything you've learned."
Fu Yichen encouraged him to attack.
"Okay!"
Shu Xian felt this self-defense technique was quite useful.
Now familiar with the moves, he observed the points where he could strike his opponent.
With a feint to distract, his nimble figure circled behind him and climbed onto his back.
Using both hands and feet, he clung tightly, his legs locked around Fu Yichen's waist. No matter how Fu Yichen tried to shake him off, he couldn't.
"Hahaha, can't shake me off, can you?"
"You giving up?"
The person on his back wrapped his arms around his shoulders, leaning close to his ear to taunt him.
The warm breath made Fu Yichen's ear tingle slightly.
His large hand gripped Shu Xian's arm. For a moment, he couldn't bring himself to pull him off.
"Do you know you're provoking a soldier?"
Before Shu Xian could react, the large hand wrenched his arm.
The world spun, and with a thud, he was slammed onto the ground.
A certain plant's name escaped his lips...
His back... felt shattered...
Fu Yichen had controlled his strength; at most, it would only daze him without causing brain injury.
But Shu Xian's body was pampered and delicate. This fall meant he would need a long time to recover.
"Can you get up?"
Fu Yichen extended a hand toward him.
Shu Xian grabbed the offered hand, and Fu Yichen helped him to his feet.
Crap, Shu Xian couldn't stand.
He looked up at the man and said, "My leg... I think it's broken..."
The man bent down to examine it, then scooped him up and ran toward the infirmary.
Thankfully, 006 had promptly activated his pain suppression.
Shu Xian was now lying leisurely in Fu Yichen's arms, bargaining with 006.
He had nerves of steel.
"006, this is a work-related injury. I'm practically disabled now, a level-ten disability. You sort it out."
If the compensation was too little, he wasn't going to let it slide.
"Host, how about I apply for permanent pain immunity for you?"
006 asked timidly.
"I want that permanent pain immunity, and I want something else too."
His leg was broken; what was wrong with asking for a bit more?
Honestly, Shu Xian wasn't worried at all. After all, once he switched to the next world, his body would be perfectly restored anyway.
"So what would the Host like?"
006 had no idea what kind of prop to apply for to make up for its host.
It ached for Shu Xian too.
"Then you can just owe me one favor. When I bring it up later, you guys make it happen."
"Okay-dokey, Host! I'll file the report first!"
Fu Yichen scooped up Shu Xian into the infirmary and quickly called for an orthopedic doctor.
The man gazed at him, full of guilt.
The boy in his arms had a pale little face, probably hurt so bad he couldn't even make a sound.
Earlier, just his fierce look was enough to make him cry. Now he couldn't even cry. Fu Yichen's guilt instantly maxed out.
Shu Xian was very pleased with Fu Yichen's expression. The more guilt like this, the less likely he'd get beaten to death by him later.
Excellent.
Fortunately, Shu Xian's foot only had a minor fracture. After getting a cast, he was wheeled out of the treatment room.
"Brother."
Li Wu immediately rushed over. If anything life-threatening had happened to Shu Xian, he wouldn't have been able to forgive himself.
"I'm sorry, brother. I shouldn't have brought you here today."
Li Wu was relieved it was only a minor fracture.
"It's okay, brother doesn't blame you. It's just a minor fracture."
Shu Xian ruffled his hair. Was this kid scared out of his wits?
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, brother."
Li Wu hated himself for not trusting him and still testing him.
He had originally thought that if Shu Xian was reborn, he would be scared to death by Fu Yichen.
In his previous life, Shu Xian had died at the hands of four men, and the one who struck the hardest was Fu Yichen.
Thinking about it now, Li Wu felt his own action was truly awful. If brother really was reborn, wouldn't he have been terrified?
Li Wu was a bit mixed up about himself now. On one hand was the person who had schemed against him everywhere in his previous life.
On the other hand was the brother who looked out for him in every way.
For a moment, he even felt his thoughts were all jumbled.
"There, there, I'm fine."
Seeing him remain silent, Shu Xian comforted him again.
"Yeah, it's your fault!"
Li Wu suddenly stood up and turned to point at Fu Yichen.
"It's all your fault that brother ended up like this."
Fu Yichen, knowing he was in the wrong, remained silent and didn't argue back.
Li Wu lunged at him, wanting to hit him, but thankfully, others were there to hold him back.
"That's enough, Li Wu."
"I'm fine. We were sparring. It was an accident."
The commotion was getting on Shu Xian's nerves, so he spoke up to stop his behavior.
Finally, things quieted down a lot.
"Go back and calm down first."
Perhaps not expecting to be scolded by Shu Xian, Li Wu turned and ran out of the hospital.
"Everyone, clear out. I want to rest."
Shu Xian called for a nurse to wheel him in to rest.
"I'll do it."
Fu Yichen took hold of the wheelchair handles. Seeing that Shu Xian didn't object, the nurse nodded and left.
"I'm sorry."
After wheeling him into the ward, Fu Yichen said to him.
"It's fine, just sparring. I'm not the kind of person who can't handle losing."
Shu Xian waved his hand dismissively.
"Let me look after you here for the next couple of days."
With such skinny arms and legs, and now broken because of his throw, he really felt guilty.
"Don't worry about it, the nurses are here."
"But what about when you need to use the bathroom? That's inconvenient."
Thinking about it, that seemed true. Shu Xian didn't refuse him anymore.
Anyway, after staying in the hospital for two more days for observation, he could be discharged.
"Hello, I'm Fu Yichen."
The man extended his hand to him.
"Hello, I'm Shu Xian."
Shu Xian shook his hand in return.
Well, well, enemies turned friends. Today was quite productive.
"From now on, we're brothers, okay?"
Shu Xian gave his shoulder a playful punch.
"That's my brother."
His usually serious face rarely broke into a smile. Fu Yichen looked much gentler when he did.
Although Li Wu had argued with Fu Yichen earlier that day, Shu Xian was now friends with him.
Still, setting them up later shouldn't be too difficult—after all, that's just how the story goes.
