Chapter 32 Transmigrated into a D-List Celebrity VI
byChapter 32: Reborn as a Z-List Star (Part Six)
Finally, everyone trickled back in from outside and gathered in the living room, waiting to hear the director's plans for tomorrow.
“Did everyone have a good time with their CP today?”
“Yes!”
Even if someone wasn't happy, they'd still say they were with the cameras on.
“If you and your CP pick each other tomorrow, you can keep dating.”
“If you don't, you'll have to draw lots for a new CP.”
Shu Xian glanced at Li Ye beside him and asked:
“Will you choose me?”
“No.”
Li Ye suddenly got the urge to tease him.
“Okay, then.”
So direct.
If he won’t choose me, then I’ll just choose my mission target, An Kongyu. After all, if it doesn’t work out, we’ll have to draw lots anyway.
Is he angry? Why isn’t he saying anything?
Shu Xian lowered his head, unaware that Li Ye had been watching him the whole time.
“Alright, everyone, write the name of the person you want to date on the card in your hand.”
The guests all started writing. Shu Xian wanted to sneak a look at who Li Ye was writing.
Just as he leaned over, Li Ye covered his card.
Fine, fine. A whole day of brotherhood wasted.
Shu Xian also covered his card and wrote the three characters: ‘An Kongyu.’
“Wow, this time only one CP pair successfully chose each other.”
The director tallied the names and found only one successful match; the others had chosen different people.
”Let’s congratulate Film Emperor An and Shu Xian for successfully forming a CP!“
Li Ye: ?
Shu Xian didn’t choose him.
An Kongyu: ?
Shu Xian: ?
Neither of them expected the other to choose them.
”Great minds think alike!“
The director laughed.
“But our Li Ye also chose Shu Xian.”
The director stirred things up by deliberately revealing it.
“Didn’t you say you wouldn’t choose me?”
Shu Xian looked at him.
“I was just teasing you.”
…
Since when does someone as cold and aloof as you crack jokes?
“Ah, missed opportunity. Next time, then.”
The remaining guests drew lots and formed their CP pairs one by one.
Shu Xian and An Kongyu were in one group.
Li Ye and Li Xun were in one group.
Chen Feifei (female) and Cheng Yang were in one group.
Cheng Mo and Tong Yue (female) were in one group.
…
Before they knew it, it was the next day. Everyone gathered downstairs early, while Shu Xian arrived right on the dot.
The variety show used a daily online voting system. Viewers could vote to eliminate contestants, and whoever got the most votes would be sent home the next day.
So everyone was giving their all to perform well.
If they performed poorly today and got voted out, they’d have to leave tomorrow morning.
But Shu Xian wasn’t worried. He was only scheduled to film two episodes anyway.
“Today’s date location can be anywhere, just not at home.”
The last sentence was added by the production team during their meeting, specifically for Shu Xian.
“If there are no questions, you're all free to go.”
“Director, I don’t need a teammate.”
Li Xun raised his hand.
He wanted a girl. What's with the guy-guy pairing?
“Then what about your teammate?”
Li Xun was famously straight in the industry, and they’d forgotten about that when forming CPs.
The director facepalmed. Thankfully, this guy didn’t throw a tantrum on the show.
“He can go wherever he wants.”
He couldn't take another day of filming this variety show.
"Then Li Ye and Shu Xian can be a pair."
The director said somewhat apologetically.
That left Li Ye on his own.
"Okay."
Li Ye responded.
"Great, it's settled then! Everyone, let's go!"
Without giving anyone a chance to react, the director tossed out this line and bolted.
"So? Shall we go?"
An Kongyu and Li Ye didn't argue, so they started walking together.
Shu Xian walked ahead, with the two of them walking side-by-side behind him.
"See, Host? Without you stirring up trouble, look how chummy they are."
_Walking side by side means they're close?_
Shu Xian ignored it. He figured the system just wanted him to play the villain.
_But where are we supposed to go?_
Shu Xian stopped and turned around to ask:
"Where are we going?"
"Wherever."
"Doesn't matter."
...
They were putting it on him again.
"Then let's grab some breakfast first."
Shu Xian spotted a hotel and led them inside to find something to eat.
Suddenly, he felt like he was taking two kids out—wherever he went, they followed.
Obedient and well-behaved.
Heh. At that thought, Shu Xian glanced back again.
Both were around six-three, with lean, athletic builds and undeniably handsome faces. Just walking down the street turned heads.
The two of them walking behind him looked like young masters traveling incognito, while he in front seemed like a servant scouting the way.
Shu Xian's mood instantly soured.
Why were they so damn charismatic?
It had to be his rainbow hair messing with his vibe.
Shu Xian's resolve to dye his hair grew even stronger.
"Eat up."
Shu Xian brought them to a breakfast buffet.
They each grabbed a roll and a coffee and called it a day.
Shu Xian was speechless. No wonder it's so easy to take rich people's money.
Shaking his head in exasperation, he got up to get more food.
A moment later, he returned carrying two bowls.
"Don't drink that coffee. If your stomach's bad, why are you drinking it?"
Shu Xian swapped the coffee in front of Li Ye for a bowl of lean meat porridge.
"Eat this."
"And you, no coffee either. You have low blood sugar, yet you're still drinking this stuff?"
Shu Xian placed the other bowl of noodles he had brought in front of An Kongyu.
"Eat."
He'd seen posts about An Kongyu's low blood sugar on Weibo. Eating like this every day would not only worsen low blood sugar but also ruin his stomach.
Neither objected and quietly began to eat.
Now they were acting like kids again.
_*Collected An Kongyu's 'Gaze' +5. Current progress: 15/60*_
Heh. A quarter of the way there.
So a bowl of noodles was worth 5 points? He'd have to feed them more often, then.
Shu Xian dug in too, having taken a little of almost everything.
He ate a more varied breakfast than anyone else.
"Weren't you dieting? Now you're binge-eating again?"
Hearing a familiar voice, Shu Xian looked up.
He searched his memory—it was the original host's brother.
"Brother."
Shu Xian said.
"Hmph."
Shu Xian usually never called him brother. It seemed the variety show had made him even more hypocritical.
_*Ding. Please collect Shu Lin's 'Gaze'. Current 'Gaze' progress: 0/60*_
"Is this another important character who's fond of Li Ye?"
"Yes, host."
"Bro, I'm done recording after today. Can you pick me up tonight?"
Shu Xian said, trying to get on his good side.
"What trick are you trying to pull now?"
Could it be that Shu Xian wanted him to pull strings to keep him on the variety show for another day?
Shu Lin leaned close to his ear and spoke in a voice only the two of them could hear:
"I'm not helping you again."
"You've got the wrong idea, bro."
Ugh, he's a tough nut to crack.
"Eat up, little brother."
Shu Lin appeared to be showing brotherly concern, but his eyes were full of disdain.
_Having a brother like this is so embarrassing._
After Shu Lin left, Shu Xian turned to the others and asked:
"Once we're done eating, is there anywhere you guys want to go?"
"You decide."
An Kongyu wanted to see where he would take them.
"I'm fine with anything."
Li Ye replied.
Shu Xian felt like he could just sell them both.
All this 'whatever' and 'you decide' stuff was going to be the death of someone as indecisive as him.
"Let's go."
Shu Xian led them to the hotel's second-floor café instead.
"I don't know where else to go, so let's just get coffee here."
The café was even more crowded than the buffet restaurant.
If they had coffee here, it wouldn't be long before they were surrounded by fans.
"Let's go, I know where to go."
An Kongyu stood up—he couldn't stand people staring at him, taking photos and videos, not to mention the constant whispering.
Shu Xian shot him a look. _You could've spoken up sooner_, he thought.
