Chapter 22 The Protagonist Uke and Four Suitors XXII
byChapter 22: The Protagonist (the Uke) and Four Pursuers (Part Twenty-Two)
"How did the check-up go? Is everything okay?"
Shu Xian stepped forward to ask.
"It went well, no problems. I just need to rest and recover for a while longer."
"That's good, that's good."
Another week or so of rest should do it, right?
"Did someone come by earlier?"
Fu Yichen noticed two teacups on the coffee table, one of them with a lipstick mark.
"Yeah, your mom came by earlier."
Fu Yichen pinched the bridge of his nose, feeling somewhat annoyed.
He knew it—as soon as he hired a nanny, his mother would start prying into his affairs.
"Don't pay any attention to what she said. Don't take it to heart."
"It's nothing, your mom is really nice."
"Alright, I'm going upstairs first."
"Okay."
...
"Mom, how many times have I told you? If you want to visit, come when I'm home. You'll end up scaring him."
Shu Xian is still young; Ms. Chen's enthusiasm would definitely overwhelm him.
"Ha, if you were here, would I even be able to get through the door?"
"Besides, I came to see my daughter-in-law, not you."
"Hey, son, you really like him, don't you? You're even worried I'll scare him."
My blockhead son has finally found love.
"Stay out of it."
He didn't want Ms. Chen interfering anymore.
"Stay out of it? With you being so clueless, if I didn't step in, you'd be single forever."
"That's my business. I'm hanging up."
Ms. Chen really didn't want to criticize her own son, but he was clueless and unwilling to listen to his mother.
She'd just watch her stubborn, mule-headed son—he'd definitely call her again.
When he came begging, she'd laugh at him.
"Ding-dong."
The doorbell rang. Fu Yichen was upstairs again. Who could it be this time?
Shu Xian was really starting to dread answering the door.
He couldn't handle Fu Yichen's mom's enthusiasm.
"Auntie, Fu Yichen is upstairs—"
"Why is it you?"
"Hello there, little Shu Xian."
"Mo Sen? Doctor Mo?"
"Mm, very good. The little one hasn't forgotten my name."
Mo Sen rubbed the top of his head affectionately.
"You're here?"
Fu Yichen, who had come downstairs at some point without Shu Xian noticing, greeted Mo Sen from behind him.
He really hated the way Mo Sen acted so intimately with Shu Xian.
He'd find another doctor to replace him in a couple of days.
"He's here to do my leg rehabilitation exercises."
"Mm-hmm." Shu Xian nodded and went to the kitchen to pour tea for both of them.
"You guys go ahead with the exercises."
Shu Xian went back to his room to play games.
"You're quite something, getting him to come stay with you?"
Mo Sen guided him through the rehabilitation poses. Fu Yichen had no intention of replying.
"Ouch... you..."
"Press harder. The rehab will only be effective that way."
Fu Yichen gasped in pain, suspecting Mo Sen was doing it on purpose.
"He said he came to take care of me because I took care of him before."
"So, do you like him?"
Mo Sen asked.
"Of course I like him... ouch..."
Fu Yichen gasped in pain again.
"Not a chance. He's mine."
Mo Sen warned.
"Hah, may the best man win."
Fu Yichen scoffed at that; Shu Xian had known him first, after all.
"Skills? What skills do you have? With those broken arms and legs of yours?"
Mo Sen retorted mercilessly.
Fu Yichen immediately lunged at him and they started wrestling.
Being a doctor, Mo Sen avoided his vital spots and injuries,
yet every hit landed in a spot that made Fu Yichen arch his back in agony.
Shu Xian watched from the second floor with a smug, delighted smile.
Mo Sen, standing at 195 cm, paired with Fu Yichen's 190 cm height—it was really something to ship.
The usually tough Fu Yichen curled up beside Mo Sen actually looked quite submissive.
Tsk, tsk, especially the way they were tangled together—it was downright suggestive.
Shu Xian went click-click-click snapping away.
Next time Fu Yichen's mom visited, he'd show her these and get her to ship a different pairing, hahahaha.
Shu Xian put away his phone and was about to head back to his room when he accidentally made a noise, alerting the two.
They both looked up at the second floor simultaneously.
"Hehe, sorry for interrupting, you guys carry on, carry on."
"You've got it wrong."
"You've got it wrong."
They both let go and explained at the same time.
"I get it, I get it."
Shu Xian made a zipping motion over his lips—he wouldn't spill the beans.
"Alright, let's get back to the exercises. He has plenty of admirers."
"Mm."
...
Soon, Fu Yichen recovered as well. He silently cheered himself on; with Shu Xian in his home, he had a good shot.
"Mm... you're all healed too, so I should be going."
As they ate, Shu Xian planned to head to Jian Fang's award ceremony after this meal.
He'd also check if 006 had any more tasks for him.
"But... weren't you living quite comfortably at my place?"
He had grown used to having Shu Xian in his home.
"You're all healed now, and I have my own things to do."
"Alright... alright."
Right, he had his own things to do too.
This meal weighed heavily on Fu Yichen. He hadn't even confessed his feelings, and now Shu Xian was leaving.
"Hey, we're bros. If you want to meet up, it's just a phone call away."
Shu Xian patted his shoulder.
"Mm."
Fu Yichen responded.
"I'm off now, no need to see me out."
'Valve Band,' here I come~
After seeing Shu Xian off, Fu Yichen still dialed his mother's number.
"What?"
Coming to beg her now?
"How do I make him like me?"
Ms. Chen, who had intended to mock Fu Yichen, held back upon hearing the sadness in her son's voice.
"It's been a whole week, and you're only asking now."
"You were living together; there were plenty of opportunities."
"For example, you could have asked him to help change your bandages, then said it hurt to get his sympathy."
"The wound was too ugly; I didn't want him to see it."
"Then you could have had him feed you, saying your hand hurt."
"My other hand works fine for eating."
Ms. Chen suppressed the urge to curse.
"You could have said your hands and feet hurt and you needed help bathing."
"I can bathe myself."
"Then go bathe yourself."
Ms. Chen couldn't take it anymore. What kind of clueless son did I raise?
"If you're not willing to do anything, don't come asking me."
There was a long silence on the other end of the line before he said:
"He's already moved out..."
Ms. Chen: ...
"Moved out? He was at your place for two weeks, and you did nothing? Just fed him a strawberry?"
"Don't tell anyone you're my son."
You're an embarrassment. Ms. Chen angrily hung up the phone.
