Chapter 15: What Are You Doing

Chi Suiyong was grilled by his parents for nearly an hour, and finally had to agree to be more polite to that young man surnamed He, at least reply to his messages sincerely.

When he got home, Suisui and Chu Yan were no longer playing games; they had started building with LEGOs.

It was already late, so Chi Suiyong began the bedtime routine. "Chu Yan, time to go upstairs and get ready for bed."

This villa had three floors. Chi Yu and her family live on the third floor, while Chi Suiyong and his parents live on the second. Tonight, Chu Yan was naturally assigned to Chi Suiyong's room.

Chi Suiyong's room was the master bedroom, with its own bathroom. Since it was a last-minute arrangement, Chu Yan hadn't brought a change of clothes. Chu Yan had to shower before bed every night—Chi Suiyong knew that only too well.

He could wear Chi Suiyong's pajamas, even if they were a bit small, but sharing underwear was out of the question. So Chi Suiyong had to wash them for him and toss them into the dryer.

After Chu Yan finished showering on his own, he stepped out of the bathroom, tugging at the elastic waistband of the pajamas with a slightly critical expression. "Yong Yong, it feels empty inside. I'm not comfortable."

Chi Suiyong glanced over, avoiding that area. "They're in the dryer. Go to sleep first, and you can put them on in the morning."

    "Alright then."

Chu Yan obediently climbed into bed and pulled up the covers.

From the moment he entered Yong Yong's room, everything related to him felt confined to the space where they were alone. Though the room's owner hadn't been here for a while, the atmosphere, the lighting, and the furnishings all seemed tailored to the image of the room's owner that had been imprinted in Chu Yan's heart.

Chu Yan looked around, letting the air in the room fill his lungs again and again, until even his own breath blended into Yong Yong's territory.

Like a young animal on its first hunt, slipping into its prey's den, needing to prove it had established its presence before savoring its meal.

He pulled the blanket up to his nose; the scent of Yong Yong became even stronger.

He couldn't hide the joy in his eyes, looking at Yong Yong with eyes sparkling with excitement.

Chi Suiyong saw his bright eyes, with no trace of drowsiness, so he said, "It's 9:30. Time to sleep."

Chu Yan shifted his body, leaving most of the bed empty. "Yong Yong, you should sleep too."

Yong Yong couldn't possibly sleep with him. He would only sneak out of bed after Chu Yan fell asleep, then wake up early and return to his side before Chu Yan opened his eyes.

Chu Yan didn't know how high his own body temperature was when he slept.

It was the normal body temperature of a healthy adult male, but his Yong Yong wasn't like most people—he would unconsciously move closer to the heat source when asleep.

Just like the first time they shared a bed, when Chi Suiyong woke up to find himself almost curled up against the other man's arms. Although that is a normal physical reaction for men, he still had to chalk it up to Chu Yan's overly warm body heat.

Chi Suiyong was honest with himself and avoided the situation just as honestly.

He turned off the light and pressed the blanket down between them, also blocking out Chu Yan's body heat.

Without the light, his sense of smell became sharper.

Chu Yan knew that Yong Yong hadn't been using cologne lately. He didn't know why, but without the scent of rust and wood, Yong Yong's natural smell was more straightforward.

He subconsciously categorized and cataloged every scent he encountered.

Yong Yong's scent was similar to the scent of sunlight on skin, with a hint of warm rice milk—very faint. If you weren't close enough, you could barely smell it. But Chu Yan could always remember that scent, and each time he perceived that familiar scent, he felt at ease.

"Yong Yong, I'm not sleepy yet. Can we talk?"

Chi Suiyong turned on his phone and glanced at the time. "Sure, let's chat for ten minutes. What do you want to talk about?"

"I don't know. Does Yong Yong have anything he wants to say?"

"If you ask me that, there is something I need to tell you."

    "I'm listening!"

Chi Suiyong thought he should clarify today's misunderstanding. "Earlier, before we came, you asked me how to address my family, right? I might not have explained it clearly."

Chu Yan clutched the blanket. "Did I address them wrong?"

    "Yeah."

"Then how should I address them?"

"We're friends, so we're on the same generation. You should follow my generation. You can call my parents 'Uncle and Aunt,' but not 'Mom and Dad.'"

Chu Yan objected. "But Qin Zheng calls them Mom and Dad."

"He calls them that because he's my sister's husband—he's family."

"So if I'm not Yong Yong's family, I can't call them that."

    "Right."

"I want to be family with Yong Yong. I like it here."

    "Well... that's a bit difficult."

"Tell me what to do to become family."

If Chi Suiyong had wanted to bring Chu Yan into his family, this would have been the perfect opportunity. He had seen Chu Yan's stubborn side—when faced with a problem he wanted to solve, he could truly overcome any obstacle to achieve his goal.

But Chi Suiyong didn't have that intention toward Chu Yan.

Even if he did, he couldn't take advantage of him in his current state.

"We'll talk about that after you get better. Your judgment isn't stable right now. If you like it here, you can come often, but you must change how you address my parents."

The word "must" had hardly ever appeared in their previous interactions. Chi Suiyong had never shown a firm side in his care for Chu Yan.

Chu Yan could also read the situation. He could tell where negotiation was possible and where compliance was required. He felt a sting of rejection because he couldn't become a family member to Yong Yong.

"Whether I can become your family—that has to be decided after I recover, right?"

    "Yes."

"Then I'll wait. Anyway, your home is here, and it won't run away."

Chi Suiyong was amused by him, but then felt a little awkward.

He often thought about how Chu Yan would treat him once he truly recovered. Would they continue as "friends," or would they only maintain a doctor-patient relationship and have no further connection once they left the hospital?

As for continuing as friends, Chi Suiyong didn't mind it; he even looked forward to it a little. He was curious about Chu Yan's true personality.

It seemed that relationships often started with curiosity, and certain feelings did too. With that thought, Chi Suiyong recalled some past events that made him even more uncomfortable.

Better to stick with the latter option—after Chu Yan recovered, he would step back and bow out.

After that, they chatted a bit about weekend plans. Chu Yan gradually fell asleep while looking forward to it.

Chi Suiyong threw on his coat and got out of bed, then went upstairs and snuck into his nephew's room.

Suisui was still awake at this hour, listening to music with headphones on. He was startled when the door opened. "Uncle, what are you doing in my room?"

    "Scoot over."

"Your room has such a big bed, why do you have to squeeze in with me?"

"Keep it up and I'll tell your dad you're still up this late."

Suisui pursed his lips. "Uncle only has the guts to pick on his nephew."

"Take off the headphones, turn off the light, sleep."

The next morning, the moment Chu Yan opened his eyes, he saw the space beside him empty.

He grumbled discontentedly, "Always like this!"

But then he started thinking about the reason behind it.

Was it because his sleeping posture was bad and he had crowded Yong Yong? Or did he snore?

He looked at the two-meter bed he was lying on—the former theory collapsed on its own, while the latter remained to be verified.

He went into the bathroom. He was having trouble peeing this morning. Chu Yan glanced down and noticed things were way more intense down there than usual. He waited for a long time, but even after he was done peeing, it still hadn't gone down. Only then did he realize something was wrong.

    What to do?

Should he go find Yong Yong? But this condition of his didn't seem appropriate for others to see. He didn't understand the cause, but he instinctively tried to save face.

Chu Yan didn't bother washing up. He sat on the bed, staring down at the thing.

After staring for a long time, nothing changed.

So he pushed down on it with his hand—

    It felt a bit strange.

Then he pressed a few more times.

Chu Yan's childish side quickly took over, and his limited logic gave way to pure curiosity.

In his hazy consciousness, a light ahead urged him on. Chu Yan was too focused, wanting only to let himself be swallowed by that beam of light. He didn't even hear the footsteps outside.

He didn't know how long it had been going on. Clearly, many times he was about to reach the finish line, but every time he got close, he was pushed back.

Suddenly the door was pushed open, and a gust of cool air rushed in. Chu Yan was startled and opened his eyes. Chi Suiyong's face suddenly appeared through that white light.

And yanked him straight over the edge.

Chu Yan gasped for air, his hand was sticky, his whole face was red.

He opened his mouth. "Yong Yong..."

His morning voice, softened by the release, turned hoarse and gentle. The sexy tones in his voice, combined with Chu Yan's entire face, totally wrapped Chi Suiyong up.

Chu Yan was wearing his own pajama pants—silk, thin, and clingy. The wet patch clung to the inside of Chu Yan's thigh, loud and clear telling the visitor what the guy had just been up to.

After a few seconds, Chu Yan gradually recovered. He pulled his hand out of his pants and just stared blankly at the stuff on his fingers.

    He needed to wash up.

He flipped his hand over and showed it to him. "Yong Yong, what's that?"

Chi Suiyong had never imagined he would end up in such a situation. His brain completely short-circuited. Chu Yan's innocent yet aroused face used the chance to drag Chi Suiyong's own easily worked-up morning body down the same path.

He quickly shut the door. "Go clean yourself up."

He knew closing the door would only make things worse for himself, but he also didn't want his family to stumble upon this.

    Too absurd.

The more he thought about having to face Chu Yan later, the worse it got. For a straight man, such private stuff would definitely make him look gross and creepy in the other guy's eyes.

"Change your clothes too. Wash yourself clean."

"I gotta wipe first." Instead of heading straight into the bathroom, Chu Yan pulled two tissues from the bedside table and wiped each finger one by one, very carefully.

Talk about a post-masturbation scene. He had nothing to do with it, but showing up at the wrong time made him part of it.

And how could Chu Yan, with that face, so casually handle the evidence of what he'd done in front of him without missing a single step?

Some things you can't just will away.

Just like Chu Yan's fingers as he cleaned them—slender, straight, and fair. Combined with the situation and setting, it was easy for your mind to go to a dirty place.

Chi Suiyong felt like he wanted to die right then and there.
