Chapter 7 The Scheming Disciple and the Charming Master 7
byChapter 7: The Scheming Disciple and the Beautiful Master 7
"Let them go! If you have any issues, take them up with me!"
If something happened to the male lead and this world collapsed because of it, wouldn't all the suffering he'd gone through have been for nothing?
But the flower demon seemed to sense how much he cared for these two disciples and deliberately toyed with him.
"Cultivators sure are loyal! But we demons aren't unreasonable either. How about this..."
The flower demon, her intentions unclear, waved her sleeve, and the vines binding Qin Du and Mu Yunting retracted on their own.
"You two fight. Whoever loses gets their essence drained and dies. It's been ages since my sisters have seen cultivators spar!"
At that, the lesser demons cheered with delight.
Not only were the two naturally handsome, making for a good show, but more importantly, they were fellow disciples from the same sect. The demons loved nothing more than watching cultivators tear each other apart.
Qin Du and Mu Yunting exchanged a glance, and to their surprise, both saw a hint of provocation in the other's eyes.
Seeing the two standing there, the flower demon yanked Lin Huaiqing off the bed and pressed an exquisite dagger to his neck.
"Don't make me repeat myself!"
"Xiaodu, Yunting! Don't listen to her!" Lin Huaiqing shouted.
Both were like the palm and the back of his hand, and he couldn't believe these flower demons were so heartless.
He had a Water-element spiritual root, which gave him a natural ability to purify himself, and his spiritual energy was slowly starting to recover.
Once he recovered half his strength, these flower demons wouldn't stand a chance against him.
The two already had deep grudges between them, and with the flower demon threatening Lin Huaiqing's life, they actually started fighting for real.
The demons formed a circle around them to watch the show.
"What's the fun in fighting with your bare hands?" Someone in the crowd tossed out two rusted cast-iron swords.
They looked like the hunting weapons those villagers had carried.
The two picked up the swords and actually started fighting.
Qin Du had only just learned swordsmanship in this life, so his foundation naturally couldn't match Mu Yunting's, who came from a proper cultivation lineage. He gradually started losing ground.
"Kill him! Kill him! Kill him!"
At the most exciting part, the demons cheered in unison, urging Mu Yunting to kill Qin Du.
Lin Huaiqing was frantic, messing up the detoxification incantation several times.
Sure, the male lead and the villain were destined enemies, but Mu Yunting wouldn't strike now, would he?
Another sword move sent Qin Du crashing to the ground, and the blade was about to hit his face.
His sword had already been knocked out of his hand by Mu Yunting.
Qin Du fell, unable to defend himself, bracing for Mu Yunting's blade to end him.
But the next moment, the sword veered off course and impaled the flower demon watching behind Qin Du.
Demon blood splattered all over Qin Du.
Quick as a flash, Qin Du reacted, scrambling up and grabbing the cast-iron sword to fight back against the monsters.
Chaos erupted. Most of the lesser demons had mediocre cultivation, and in no time, Mu Yunting had cut through a huge swath of them.
"How dare you! Hurting my sisters! All three of you are dead today!"
Seeing the chaos in her territory, the lead flower demon was about to leap off the vine swing bed to take their lives.
But she suddenly felt a chill at the back of her neck—a cold spiritual sword was pressed right against it.
Lin Huaiqing still lounged on the bed, but the sword in his hand was far less easygoing than he looked.
"When did you get your spiritual energy back?"
"Just now..."
The flower demon's charming smile finally faltered.
She had assumed Lin Huaiqing, being blind, was harmless, forgetting that among the three, the seemingly weakest one—the blind man—was the master.
"Immortal Master, don't be hasty. We can talk things out."
Despite the beautiful woman's plea, Lin Huaiqing didn't budge, gripping his sword tighter.
"Your flower demon clan has taken over the mountain, slaughtered villagers, and committed countless evils. If I don't get rid of you today, more villagers will suffer in the future."
Capture the leader first—kill the flower demon king, and the remaining demons with less than a century of cultivation would be nothing to worry about.
Meanwhile, the lesser demons used swarm tactics. A dozen flower demons manipulated vines, wrapping them tightly around Qin Du.
Outnumbered, Qin Du couldn't exactly swing his sword at himself.
A thin vine was about to burrow into Qin Du's ear and straight into his brain.
This was the flower demons' signature move—once it hit, whether cultivator or mortal, the victim would either end up mentally crippled or die on the spot.
Without a second thought, Lin Huaiqing sent his life-bound spirit sword to sever the vines around Qin Du.
But this gave the flower demon king an opening to break free from Lin Huaiqing's grip.
She charged into the demon crowd, aiming to take out Qin Du and Mu Yunting first.
Lin Huaiqing followed right behind, engaging the flower demon king in combat.
Qin Du struggled to shake off the troublesome vines, realizing it was Lin Huaiqing's life-bound spirit sword that had set him free.
"Master! Your sword!"
The Shuofeng Sword returned to Lin Huaiqing's hand, and with it, his confidence soared. A few moves later, he had the upper hand.
Mu Yunting, while taking out nearby demons, kept a close eye on the battle between Lin Huaiqing and Qin Du.
If it hadn't been for his master's life-bound spirit sword, Qin Du would surely have died just now.
Although he had mentally prepared himself, seeing Lin Huaiqing's attention on Qin Du with his own eyes still made him feel a pang of inadequacy.
Just as he was spacing out, he failed to notice the sneak attack from the minor demon behind him.
By the time he reacted, a sharp sword strike had already sliced the demon that had been ambushing him from behind clean in half.
"Yunting! Don't lose focus!"
"Yes, Master!"
This fight had completely drained Lin Huaiqing, body and soul.
Not only did he have to single-handedly fend off the Flower Demon King and sneak attacks from the lesser demons, but he also had to watch over his two disciples, ready to jump in at any moment.
By the time he finally obtained the Flower Demon King's demon pearl, he was soaked in blood from head to toe.
Qin Du and Mu Yunting were in the same boat—they'd killed who knows how many flower demons and were splattered with their blood.
"Master, are you injured?!"
Qin Du was the first to rush to Lin Huaiqing's side, all eager to please, while Mu Yunting trailed a step behind.
"I'm fine."
All that was left was to clean up the battlefield.
Qin Du was responsible for gathering and picking up the scattered demon pearls, while Mu Yunting was tasked with searching for the remains of the hunters.
Sure enough, before long, Mu Yunting discovered the skeletal remains of six adult males in a cave within the flower demons' lair.
Each body had been drained of its life force before death, leaving nothing but shriveled, skin-and-bone husks.
