Chapter 31 The Scheming Disciple and the Charming Master 31
byChapter 31 The Scheming Disciple and His Seductive Master 31
Covering his face with a soaked hot towel, Lin Huaiqing felt utterly despondent.
How had things escalated to this point?!
Certain events had actually unfolded in the direction of that erotic dream. Could it really have been a prophetic dream?!
Having that kind of relationship with his own disciple—was he still fit to be a master? He was nothing short of a beast in human clothing!
Lin Huaiqing tapped the system, as he always did when he felt troubled and needed to vent.
"What am I supposed to do? I slept with the villain."
His opening statement fried the system's circuits.
"Hold on, hold on... Are you telling me you slept with the villain while the male lead was going through his tribulation? Why? Was this part of your plan too? To sleep your way into convincing him?"
"Of course not, it was an accident! I was trying to stop his body from exploding! If he died, how would the plot continue?"
But the truth was, only Lin Huaiqing himself knew what really happened.
When it happened, all he could think about was saving the guy—tasks and systems were the last thing on his mind.
What he was telling the system now was just an excuse he'd come up with afterward.
The system was quiet for a moment, then spoke in a cold, robotic voice:
"It's really not a big deal. It won't affect the main storyline. Oh, and by the way, the male lead just finished his tribulation and should be back any minute."
And with that, the system went offline.
Lin Huaiqing mentally cursed the system for its cold, detached attitude.
Still, he felt a bit relieved knowing Mu Yunting was on his way back.
After all, if it were just the two of them on Lingxiao Peak after what happened, things would be even more awkward.
He had no idea how long he'd soaked in the pool, but eventually, he made his way back to the place he wanted to avoid.
It was already broad daylight. Qin Du was probably awake by now.
He wondered if Qin Du would come after him once he realized what happened last night.
Feeling that the courtyard was empty, Lin Huaiqing hurried toward his own chambers.
But after just two steps, the sudden movement tugged at something very sensitive, and he sucked in a sharp breath.
Damn it! He'd brought this on himself. Who knew it would hurt this bad? Should he go see his junior sister about it?
Hopefully, it'd heal in a few days.
He finally made it back inside. He'd barely settled onto the soft couch when he shot straight up again.
He'd sat at a bad angle. He shifted and sat back down.
"Master! Master?! Your disciple is back!"
Lin Huaiqing had just gotten comfortable when he heard Mu Yunting calling from outside the window.
Speak of the devil. He didn't expect Mu Yunting to be back this fast.
"Your disciple Mu Yunting left without a word a month ago. Today, I've come back to beg for your forgiveness!"
The second Mu Yunting walked in, he dropped to his knees in front of Lin Huaiqing, looking genuinely sincere.
Even if Lin Huaiqing hadn't known he'd gone to undergo his love tribulation, he still wouldn't have had the heart to scold him.
He just told him to let him know next time before heading off on a long trip.
Mu Yunting voluntarily explained that he'd stumbled into a mysterious realm during his trip. After going through trials there, he'd now reached the Late Golden Core Stage.
Lin Huaiqing nodded and smiled, sitting quietly as he listened to Mu Yunting recount his adventures.
As for the specifics of the love tribulation, Mu Yunting didn't go into detail—he only mentioned that he'd teamed up with a fellow cultivator named Yu'er, who was also trapped in the realm, to pass the trials.
In reality, that realm was nothing like Xianyue Sect's trial grounds. It was a whole other world where they'd played the roles of a married couple.
They'd managed to kill all the monsters disguised as humans in the realm before finally getting out.
As for how they'd fallen for each other during their act, he definitely wasn't going to share that with Lin Huaiqing.
Lin Huaiqing smiled knowingly. Even though Mu Yunting seemed the same as always, he could clearly hear a hint of unexplained joy in his words.
So he'd found someone too.
Mu Yunting chatted away with Lin Huaiqing for a while, only to realize his throat was dry—and there wasn't even a cup of tea in his master's room.
Where was that Demon Lord who was always fawning over his master at every chance?
He'd been back for a while now and still hadn't seen him.
Could it be that the master found out about him and kicked him off the mountain?
Lin Huaiqing didn't say, and Mu Yunting didn't dare ask.
Footsteps echoed from outside the door. Mu Yunting turned and came face to face with Qin Du, who looked like death warmed over.
Qin Du, who'd been about to come in and pay his respects to Lin Huaiqing, was also startled to see Mu Yunting, but quickly put back on his usual arrogant look.
Feeling Qin Du getting closer, Lin Huaiqing instinctively shrank back.
Everything from last night was still swirling in his head. Just having Qin Du near made him want to run away on instinct.
Embarrassment, shame, fear—all of it hit him at once. Before he knew it, his face was bright red.
"Why are you back?" Qin Du asked, sounding annoyed.
Mu Yunting, not one to back down, raised an eyebrow. "Lingxiao Peak is my home. My master and I live here—why wouldn't I come back?"
Normally, Qin Du would've fired back right away, but right now he didn't have the energy to bicker with Mu Yunting.
"Master, your disciple has something he'd like to report to you in private." Qin Du looked at Lin Huaiqing, who was sitting in the seat of honor.
Private?! No way! He was allergic to the word "private" right now. There was no way he could be alone in a room with Qin Du. At least not for the next few days.
"Yunting just got back, and your master still has a lot to talk to him about. Whatever you need to say, save it for another day."
Lin Huaiqing tried to keep his voice steady.
Turned down on the spot, Qin Du felt a twinge of disappointment. Yet seeing Lin Huaiqing's cold expression, which seemed more like weariness toward him, he didn't dare act spoiled or beg like he usually did.
"Yes, Master. I'll come back when you have time."
Mu Yunting watched the whole scene, finding it both strange and funny.
What the hell happened in the month he was gone? Master usually spoiled Qin Du rotten, letting him do whatever he wanted.
He didn't expect Master to tire of him so quickly! What a pleasant surprise!
Humans and demons don't mix. Besides, a leopard can't change its spots.
With Qin Du staying on the mountain, it would ultimately be bad for Master. Mu Yunting thought the best outcome would be for Qin Du to gradually fall out of favor and leave the mountain on his own.
After Mu Yunting returned to the mountain, Lingxiao Peak regained its former peace and quiet.
The only one still on edge was Qin Du.
Three days had passed since Mu Yunting's return, and every time Qin Du tried to see Lin Huaiqing, he was dismissed with one excuse or another.
So he still hadn't managed to have a real conversation with Lin Huaiqing.
He clearly remembered that three days ago, while cultivating, he suddenly went into a qi deviation, his whole body feeling like it was on fire.
Though his mind had been clouded at the time, he still recalled Lin Huaiqing discovering his condition and trying to help soothe him.
And then...
Then he remembered nothing else.
The only thing he remembered was a hazy, confused dream.
In the dream, he was consumed by flames, in agonizing pain, when suddenly a large piece of warm jade appeared before him.
He grabbed it like a lifeline, hugging the jade tightly to cool off.
Slowly, the jade gave off a refreshing scent and turned into a clear spring, wrapping around him.
The cool water slowly calmed the heat in his body, and the burning feeling went away.
After that, he woke up.
When he woke up, the room was a mess, and the bed was a disaster.
But he'd clearly had such an innocent dream, right?
