Chapter 6 The Scheming Disciple and the Charming Master 6
byChapter 6: The Scheming Disciple and His Pretty Master 6
The carriage traveled all the way to a village near Mount Huaicang before they stopped for a brief rest.
Before leaving, the Sect Leader Senior Brother had entrusted him with only one commission, which happened to be close to their destination, so Lin Huaiqing accepted it on the way.
According to the map, they were only a few dozen li from the Taiyin Secret Realm. Their purpose for this trip was to find the young male lead's life-bound spirit sword within the secret realm.
And they might as well take on a commission along the way to earn some money.
After all, with so many disciples in the Xuantian Sect, they couldn't just live on air.
The village sat at the foot of Mount Huaicang, surrounded by desolation. The people living here were villagers whose ancestors had resided in this area for generations.
They made their living by hunting in the mountains and farming, living a fairly comfortable life.
But in recent years, demons and monsters had been wreaking havoc in the cultivation world.
In this village of barely a hundred people, six hunters who had gone into the mountains had gone missing within the past month alone.
The villagers pooled their resources and sent a commission to the Xuantian Sect, urgently requesting that powerful cultivators come into the mountains to find the missing men and vanquish the demons and monsters.
Much to their delight, three cultivators showed up.
The village chief immediately held a banquet to welcome the visiting immortals.
"We've been waiting for you three immortals with bated breath! Please, go into the mountains and vanquish those demons for us!"
Mu Yunting quickly stepped forward and helped the elderly village chief, who was kneeling on the ground, back to his feet:
"Don't worry, sir. My master is the number one Sword Venerable in the cultivation world. He will definitely find all the missing hunters."
Compared to the courteous Mu Yunting, Qin Du appeared far more aloof, quietly feeling out the spiritual energy around him.
No demonic qi, but there was a faint trace of monster aura.
It seemed a monster had cultivated into a spirit in these mountains.
"May I ask, Village Chief, were all the missing hunters young men in their prime?"
"Yes, they were all the young men of our village! They were the breadwinners of their families!"
Mu Yunting shot Qin Du a glare. "Who else would be hunters—old women and kids?"
Just as the two were about to squabble again over nothing, Lin Huaiqing quickly intervened.
"Both of you, knock it off. Prepare yourselves, and we'll head into the mountains shortly."
The night was cold, and the master and his two disciples climbed the mountain in the dead of night, hoping to find the six hunters as soon as possible—the sooner, the safer for them.
Qin Du followed behind. This was his first time taking on a commission like a proper cultivator, so he was pretty excited.
He asked curiously, "Master, how much do we get paid for completing this commission?"
"Around one mid-grade spirit stone."
In the cultivation world, spirit stones and silver were the main currency—one mid-grade spirit stone was worth about ten taels of silver.
"That little? Buskers earn more than that." Qin Du was quite shocked.
Back when he was the Demon Lord, he could spend a thousand high-grade spirit stones without batting an eye, and now he was scouring the mountains at night for a single mid-grade spirit stone.
"You stupid, nagging fool, what do you know? That one mid-grade spirit stone was pooled together bit by bit by the entire village. Cultivation is about righting wrongs and slaying demons, not making money!"
It was obvious who was the hero and who was the villain.
Lin Huaiqing wished he was deaf at that moment, so he wouldn't have to listen to the two of them bickering.
"Qin Du, check that tree up ahead. Is there any mark on it?"
Throughout their journey, even though he couldn't see, he had used sword energy to mark every notable tree they passed.
They had been walking for over an hour, yet the surroundings around them hadn't changed at all.
Strangely enough, even at night, they could see many blooming flowers, and the air was filled with a strange fragrance.
It wasn't until he used his spiritual power to sense the tree ahead that he realized it looked remarkably similar to the one they'd seen when they first entered the mountain.
"Master, there's a sword mark on the trunk. It looks freshly carved."
Sure enough, they had gone in a circle and returned to their starting point.
Just as Lin Huaiqing was considering whether to go left or right, he suddenly realized that the sounds around him had disappeared.
Weren't those two the type who couldn't go five minutes without bickering?
It had been half an incense stick's worth of time without a peep from them.
"Xiaodu? Yunting?" he called out.
The only response was the chirping of crickets in the grass and the occasional howl of wolves in the distance.
A chill ran down Lin Huaiqing's spine. In just a few minutes, both Qin Du and Mu Yunting had vanished into thin air.
Even if he was blind, he was still at the Nascent Soul stage. Who could possibly take his two disciples away without him noticing?
"What kind of demon dares—" Lin Huaiqing started, but a sudden, intense dizziness washed over him, and the next second, he lost consciousness.
When he woke up again, a strange fragrance hit his nose, causing him to sneeze.
"Oh! The blind cultivator is awake! Come see, everyone! The blind cultivator is awake!"
"Master!"
"Master!"
They both said at the same time.
They had walked right into the trap of these flower spirits. While in the mountains, they had all breathed in the pollen carried in the air without realizing.
With their low cultivation levels, they had fallen under the spell quickly. Unfortunately, their master, being blind, didn't notice when the two of them disappeared.
When they woke up, they found themselves tied up by these flower spirits and hidden away here.
They had no idea that such a place existed within Mount Huaicang.
Flowers lined the path everywhere, and there was even a vine swing bed supported by countless vines and petals.
Many female demons dressed provocatively were reveling here, clinking glasses in celebration. The sound of women's teasing laughter was constant.
Even the wine in their cups was made from petals, and it smelled absolutely divine.
The two of them were tied to wooden stakes, one on each side, while their master was bound tightly with immortal-binding ropes, carried by a group of flower demons, and tossed onto a swing bed strewn with petals.
What a scene of "spring in full bloom," yet they were in no mood to appreciate it.
Lin Huaiqing felt himself being jostled around before he was thrown onto a soft, fragrant bed, and a smooth, slender hand caressed his cheek.
Her slender nails hooked the silk ribbon over his eyes, traced across his brows, and slid it off.
The next moment, the woman beside him let out a silvery, bell-like laugh.
"Such a handsome young daoist—I can't bear to kill you. Why not stay and be my husband?"
Lin Huaiqing, lying on the bed, felt a cold sweat break out.
His spiritual power was unusable because he'd inhaled the miasma. From the sounds of it, there were at least dozens of demons around him.
"Shameless demoness! If you dare, untie me and fight me like a real opponent!"
Qin Du was the first to lose his cool. As the mighty Demon Lord, he had never suffered such humiliation!
But the more he struggled, the tighter the flower vines became, squeezing the breath out of him until his face was flushed red.
"Stop struggling and save your strength," Mu Yunting said calmly, as if he were certain of something.
Once he'd cleared his head, Lin Huaiqing rose and said:
"So you're the ones who captured the hunters from the village? Where are they now?"
"Them? They've long been drained of their vital essence by my sisters." The flower demon teased, reaching out to stroke Lin Huaiqing's chest through his clothes.
"Don't worry—soon your disciples will get to see them."
