Chapter 44: The Scheming Disciple and His Teasing Master 44

The servants in the demon palace replaced the blood-stained bedding in the Qingming Hall with a fresh set and wiped away every trace of blood from the floor.

They also brought in two charcoal braziers from outside the hall.

And sure enough, once that charcoal got going, the room warmed right up.

Lin Huaiqing grabbed a random demon maidservant and asked:

"How are the Demon Lord's wounds?"

The maidservant, having been assigned to attend to Lin Huaiqing, had naturally been briefed beforehand.

"The Lord's out of danger now. He'll come see you, Immortal Lord, a bit later." With that, she bowed and withdrew.

As the room warmed up, Lin Huaiqing's thoughts started flowing again.

Unconsciously, his mind replayed those two heated, hungry kisses and how they felt on his lips.

Honestly, his feelings for Qin Du had always been a mess.

In his mind, Qin Du wasn't like Mu Yunting. Mu Yunting was the male lead, so he had to help him no matter what to finish his mission.

But Qin Du was just a disciple he'd taken in by accident. Everything he did for Qin Du—being kind, wanting to save him—it was all just because Qin Du was his disciple.

But that pure feeling had crossed the line between master and disciple that night. He just refused to admit it, plain and simple.

"What's Master thinking about?" Qin Du showed up behind him out of nowhere, scaring the hell out of him.

But he pulled himself together quickly and said softly:

"I was just thinking how fast your wound healed. Come on, let me see where you got hurt."

    "I'm already fine, Master. Really!"

Lin Huaiqing had suspected something was off for a while now. He grabbed Qin Du and, without a word, started patting him down.

If he'd really been injured and lost that much blood, there would surely be a wound on his abdomen. If there wasn't... then we'd have a problem.

"Master, what are you doing! I can take my own clothes off!" Qin Du had come prepared—he'd had a servant wrap a thick layer of gauze around his waist before coming in.

In a few quick moves, Qin Du stripped off his shirt entirely, letting Lin Huaiqing look him over.

    "Does Master suspect me?"

Sure enough, Lin Huaiqing felt a layer of gauze, and he couldn't exactly unwrap a properly bandaged wound to check again.

So he had to let it go.

"I was just worried about your injury. Since you're fine, you should head back now."

"I'm not leaving, Master. What I told you earlier today, did you..." Qin Du stopped mid-sentence, suddenly feeling like something was off.

"Master, what kind of incense did you light in here?"

"What incense? Isn't this your place?" Lin Huaiqing's cheeks were flushed, his head was spinning, and his voice had gone all soft and weak.

Maybe it was the charcoal braziers, but his whole body was burning up now, like some weird fire was raging inside him.

Qin Du knew something was seriously wrong and quickly covered his nose. "Damn it! There's something in the braziers."

Qin Du grabbed the teapot off the table and quickly doused both braziers. He couldn't believe someone would dare go after his master right under his own nose.

But Lin Huaiqing had already been in the room for half the day. If it were poison, he'd have reacted way earlier.

Qin Du quickly threw open the window to air the place out, then carried the limp, boneless Lin Huaiqing over to the bed.

"Someone! Get the demon physician in here!"

Qin Du yelled, but got no response from outside. Pissed off, he stormed to the door and pushed—it wouldn't budge.

"Save your strength, Master. Immortal Lord Lin's just been dosed with an aphrodisiac. It's not poisonous on its own. But don't make him wait too long... it's bad for him."

The voice outside belonged to none other than Xiao Sha.

Qin Du kicked the door, furious.

"Xiao Sha! Who told you to drug him? You're getting bolder and bolder! Open the door! Give me the antidote!"

"Forgive me, Master! I just couldn't stand watching you waste any more time. Once you've fully claimed him, you'll finally be able to focus on invading the cultivation world. So I figured I'd give you a nudge."

    "You! This isn't the time!"

"Hope you get what you want, Master! Tomorrow morning, I'll personally apologize to Immortal Lord Lin!"

Even though Qin Du was eager, he didn't want to force Lin Huaiqing like this.

He gathered demonic energy in his palm, ready to blow the fancy wooden door to pieces with one hit.

"One more heads-up—there's a barrier on the door. Even at your Spirit Transformation Stage, it'll take at least the time it takes to burn one stick of incense to break through. Are you really willing to make Immortal Lord Lin wait that long?"

Xiao Sha's footsteps faded away. Looking at Lin Huaiqing, already lost to the drug's effects on the bed, Qin Du cursed under his breath and went back to his side.

    "Xiaodu... Master's so hot."

"Master, hang in there..." Even though Qin Du had only breathed in a little, he was already soaked in sweat.

The room was cool, but watching the person he'd been pining over, drugged and writhing in agony right in front of him—it was a huge test of his already shaky self-control.

The second Qin Du got close, Lin Huaiqing latched onto him like he was a source of cool air, his pale, smooth arms wrapping around Qin Du's neck.

At this point, Lin Huaiqing couldn't give a damn about propriety or shame. He grabbed onto the person in front of him, wrapping around him like a beautiful snake.

Qin Du, young and full of fire, could barely handle that kind of teasing. Panting, he asked:

"Master, do you know who I am?"

"Xiaodu, the disciple I raised myself." In his daze, Lin Huaiqing gave the right answer.

"Master... your disciple overstepped. Tomorrow, whatever punishment you decide on, I'll take it."

Just as things were heating up, Qin Du spotted a tiny mark on the small of Lin Huaiqing's back and went still.

The mark was a spider lily, just about to bloom, no bigger than a thumb, sitting in such an intimate spot.

Knowing Lin Huaiqing, he'd never get a tattoo like that willingly. Unless someone forced him—or had it inked while he was unconscious.

At the thought, Qin Du felt as if a thunderbolt had split his mind open.

Who? Who had left such a mark on Lin Huaiqing's body?

Or rather, who had touched Lin Huaiqing behind his back?

This kind of mark was quite popular among ordinary people, usually tattooed on the "thin horses"—kept women—of wealthy families, as a mark of ownership.

And now, this very thing had appeared on Lin Huaiqing!

Qin Du wished he could kill someone right then.

Still lost in the aphrodisiac's effects, Lin Huaiqing no longer stirred any desire in Qin Du. He hauled Lin Huaiqing up and demanded:

"Master! Who tattooed that mark on your back?"

"Who touched you? Tell me! Who?!"

If Lin Huaiqing had been awake at that moment, he would have been terrified by the sight of Qin Du.

Qin Du's eyes were bloodshot, a crimson glow flashing within them, his expression ferocious, as if he wanted to tear the man beneath him apart.

He forced himself to calm down.

After covering Lin Huaiqing with the blanket, Qin Du summoned a demonic sword and slashed through the barrier with a single strike.

The loud noise even woke Xiao Sha, who was staying in the demon palace. Still in his sleepwear, he rushed over.

"No way? Master, are you a saint? You didn't even go for it?" Xiao Sha couldn't believe Qin Du's restraint.

"Cut the crap! Give me the antidote!" Qin Du's brow was furrowed, the red glow in his eyes hadn't faded yet.

Sensing something was wrong, Xiao Sha handed over the antidote without a word.

This was real anger—if he didn't give it now, he might be in mortal danger.

Qin Du returned to the room, administered the antidote to Lin Huaiqing, then came out and closed the door.

Xiao Sha was waiting at the door.

"Master, what exactly happened? Why are you so furious?"

Qin Du sat on the hallway railing, punching a stone pillar, a storm brewing in his eyes.
