Chapter 3: The Scheming Disciple and His Alluring Master 3

That night, Lin Huaiqing had a very steamy dream.

He'd read a post online once about whether blind people could actually see stuff in their dreams.

Well, now he had his answer—they could. And it was so clear, it was like it was happening right in front of him.

On the big bed just two steps away, a muscular young guy had the person under him tied tight to the bedpost with silk ribbons.

The guy underneath had slim ankles, and the young man was holding one in his hand, stroking it slowly.

As if reacting to the touch, the man's hips gave a little tremble. He tried to pull his ankle away, but the young man held on tight.

In the blink of an eye, the young man had scooped him up off the bed and pressed him up against the vanity, a little rough.

Lin Huaiqing's throat went dry. The sight in front of him was doing something to him.

He was a grown man, and sexy dreams weren't exactly a new thing for him.

But this was the first time the dream starred two guys.

The guy was wearing next to nothing—just a few scraps of fabric barely covering the important bits.

A big hand with sharp knuckles reached for the man's delicate neck, applying just enough pressure to turn his face toward the waist-high bronze mirror on the vanity.

"Master looks so beautiful today. Too bad Master can't see it himself."

"Let your disciple help you get some rest."

And with that, the young man went for the scraps of fabric, ignoring the look of resistance on the man's face as he kissed him hard.

When he caught a glimpse of the face in the mirror, Lin Huaiqing jolted awake.

The guy in the mirror had flushed cheeks, red-rimmed eyes like he'd been crying, and thin lips pressed together like he was pretending not to want it—pitiful and kinda hot.

But... that was his face, wasn't it?!

Even if he'd been blind for five years, he still knew exactly what he looked like.

The guy working away behind him had just called him "Master"... No way...?

A wave of nausea hit Lin Huaiqing's stomach, and every hair on his body stood up. A cold dread washed over him.

He'd never seen Qin Du all grown up, but the young man's features did look a bit like that grimy little kid he'd taken in.

Just as he tried to get a better look at the young man's face, he woke up.

The image faded, and he was back in the void of darkness.

If it weren't for these weird sex dreams, he'd actually enjoy dreaming. At least then he wasn't stuck in darkness.

"Master, the Sect Master sent word—he wants you at the Immortal Destiny Conference."

    "What time is it?"

    "It's already past Si hour."

Lin Huaiqing rubbed his head, still groggy.

Yeah, he really needed to stop drinking that calming tea.

Hearing Qin Du's familiar voice less than half a meter behind him, his mind immediately flashed back to the dream.

Just now in the dream, he'd been sitting at the vanity like this, with the young man behind him...

A shiver ran up his spine.

No! He couldn't think about that!

"Master, let your disciple do your hair."

    "Mm..."

His face red, Lin Huaiqing instinctively reached for the ribbon over his eyes.

But it wasn't there. He was sure he'd worn it to bed last night.

Had it fallen off while he was asleep?

No time to worry about that. He just grabbed a new ribbon and tied it on.

Over the past five years, Lin Huaiqing hadn't exactly been slacking. He'd learned to use his spiritual energy to sense his surroundings.

It worked kind of like sonar—even without sight, he could sense anything within ten meters.

He flew his sword to the Xuantian Sect's training grounds. Today was the annual recruitment day for new disciples, which was why it was called the Immortal Destiny Conference.

Kids from ordinary families could attend the Immortal Destiny Conferences held by the various sects once they turned six.

If they were lucky enough to test positive for dual spiritual roots, they could become inner disciples of the Xuantian Sect. Those with decent triple spiritual roots would be taken in as outer disciples.

If they ever broke through to the Foundation Establishment Stage, they'd leave their mortal bodies behind and step onto the path of cultivation.

"Junior brother, you're here. Come, sit." Chu Xiuyuan stepped forward, took Lin Huaiqing's arm, and led him to his seat.

Over the years, his senior brother had always looked out for him. The Xuantian Sect always gave Lingxiao Peak the best supplies.

Even the spirit stones Qin Du used for cultivation were way better than what the inner disciples on the main peak got.

"I know you don't like crowds, but today's our recruitment day. If any of them have exceptional spiritual roots, you might consider taking one under your wing."

Lin Huaiqing didn't commit to anything.

He had no intention of taking on disciples. But he didn't want to publicly turn down his sect master senior brother either. So he just sat up on the high platform, smiling and saying nothing.

A few sharp-eyed disciples in the crowd recognized him.

"Hey, isn't that Immortal Venerable Huaiqing? I didn't think he'd come out of seclusion today. Totally worth showing up!"

"It really is him! Is he gonna take disciples too? These little brats are so damn lucky to get picked by Immortal Venerable Huaiqing."

"Immortal Venerable is so hot. And he's even hotter now that he's blind!"

Back on Lingxiao Peak, after Lin Huaiqing left, Qin Du couldn't focus on anything.

Usually, it was just the two of them. But this time, Lin Huaiqing had made an exception and told him to stay behind and practice his sword on the mountain.

The more he thought about it, the more it bugged him.

He'd never heard of the Immortal Destiny Conference, but it sounded like a blast.

Qin Du just chucked his wooden sword aside and headed to the main peak to check out the commotion.

But the second he set foot on the main peak, he was blown away by the sea of people.

Since when did Xuantian Sect turn into a tourist trap? There were so many people—and they were all a bunch of six-to-eight-year-old brats.

After elbowing his way into the training grounds, he found even more people packed inside.

Besides the kids there for the conference, a bunch of sect disciples had also packed the stands to watch the show.

Half an hour ago, it wasn't this packed. But the second word got out that Immortal Venerable Huaiqing had come out of seclusion, disciples started spreading the news, and the stands filled up in no time.

Qin Du finally found an empty seat and sat down, and only then did he spot Lin Huaiqing sitting calmly on the high platform.

Xuantian Sect's disciples were split by profession into: alchemy cultivators, strength cultivators, spell cultivators, sword cultivators, and talisman cultivators.

Of these, alchemy cultivation had the most female disciples, sword cultivators were the poorest, and strength cultivators were mostly guys.

Right now, the seats on either side of Qin Du were taken by female alchemy disciples, who were gossiping nonstop about Lin Huaiqing on stage.

"Oh my god! Immortal Venerable Huaiqing is so easy on the eyes. I wonder who's lucky enough to become his disciple."

Qin Du secretly gloated when he heard that.

Obviously, it was him. No one else should even bother hoping.

Down below, a bunch of little kids lined up, taking turns to put both hands on the spirit-testing stone.

Most of the time, the stone didn't react at all. Occasionally, a few lit up with colorful beams, but unfortunately, they were just miscellaneous spiritual roots and didn't make the cut.

Basically, in the whole morning, only two kids with three spiritual roots got accepted as outer disciples.

It wasn't until a tall, lean adult male stepped into the line that he caught the attention of many disciples in the stands.

"Hey! Check it out! Someone this old is still coming to test his spiritual roots! Even if he's got dual spiritual roots, he's way too old..."

"Seriously, he looks like he's seventeen or eighteen, and he's just now thinking about joining a sect. Way too late."

Qin Du had been about to leave out of boredom, but when he heard the chatter around him, his gaze drifted to the line.

He wished he hadn't looked. The second he made out that adult male's figure, the blood in Qin Du's veins ran cold.

He'd recognize that man even if he was burned to a crisp.

Because this man was none other than his mortal enemy from his past life—Mu Yunting.
