Chapter 25: I Bet His Gun Has No Bullets
byChapter 25: I Bet His Gun Has No Bullets
"...He didn't look like he was lying just now."
The plot guide in his head sounded gloomy and clearly biased.
Shu Hanqing sneered dismissively: "What the hell would a robot like you know?"
"You have no idea what kind of person Mu Ye really is."
In both his lifetimes combined, Mu Ye had never once been in a real relationship with anyone.
He was like an ascetic monk who was born without desires.
How could someone like that agree to something so debauched and shameless without even batting an eye?
In his past life, Mu Ye had only ever let Shu Hanqing stay unguarded in his most private space.
One of humanity's most pathetic flaws is the tendency to mistake preferential treatment for affection.
That was exactly why the past Shu Hanqing had been like a blind fool, naively believing Mu Ye must have had at least a little fondness for him.
The reason he'd said such outrageous things in the hospital room today was simply to use this self-degrading shamelessness to thoroughly disgust Mu Ye's lofty, saintly purity, so he'd never bother with his life again.
But who could've guessed that the heavy blade he'd swung wouldn't scare off that fake monk, but instead nearly scared himself to death.
The plot guide was silent for a moment, then honestly replied with two words: "I don't get it."
Shu Hanqing furrowed his brows, his fingers instinctively moving to pull another cigarette from the pack.
After a beat, he didn't light it, just held it between his fingers.
Shu Hanqing muttered to the air: "His personality—put it nicely, he's overly responsible; put it bluntly, he's got a nagging mother-hen complex. The only reason he agreed to my crazy proposal is that he's dead set on keeping me away from Rong Hua. To achieve that goal, he'll spout any shameless lie without batting an eye. And he even said he loves me, that he wants to be with me..."
Shu Hanqing let out a cold laugh: "If he really liked me, with all the time I've spent hanging around him in both lifetimes, wasn't that enough? Back then, he knew better than anyone that I had a thing for him. Yet now, just when I'm about to leave, he suddenly reacts like this... wait..."
His scattered thoughts hit an abrupt dead end.
Shu Hanqing's fingers holding the cigarette froze, and a bold guess surfaced: "...Could it be that the person he actually really likes... is Rong Hua?"
The plot guide's stiff electronic voice suddenly brimmed with a weird hope: "Really?"
Shu Hanqing followed this absurd line of reasoning: "All his recent weirdness, all his loss of control—didn't it all start from that time? From when he personally saw me with Rong Hua."
The plot guide: "And then what?"
"Then my ass."
Shu Hanqing rolled his eyes: "Do you think there's any chance in this world he likes Rong Hua so much he'd agree to share me with him?"
The plot guide seemed a little disappointed.
Shu Hanqing thought this guess was completely ridiculous.
Ever since that incident, every time those two crossed paths, it was like needle against thread, their high-level superpowers surging out of control.
To be honest, within a ten-mile radius of those two, the fierce sparks could burn everything to cinders—but those weren't sparks of love, they were sparks of hatred, the kind that made them want to flay each other alive.
"...The fact that you can even think that way—I'd say it's not entirely impossible."
Shu Hanqing thought the plot guide was starting to lose it in its desperation to get the plot back on track.
But given Mu Ye's self-righteous nature, he probably still thought Shu Hanqing was the same fool from the past life—someone who couldn't survive without him, someone who would gladly die for him at any moment.
Mu Ye probably figured that as long as he could calmly toss out a few cheap, insincere sweet nothings, Shu Hanqing would gratefully kick Rong Hua to the curb.
The sarcasm in Shu Hanqing's eyes grew even sharper.
He thought that if he were truly stupid enough to fall for that, to turn around and beg for his affection, maybe on that bed, Mu Ye would recite a night of Buddhist purification mantras with a straight face and then say "please respect yourself."
This wasn't Shu Hanqing's wild imagination.
It was just that the bloody lessons, one after another, were simply impossible to forget.
Back then, they had both accidentally eaten the male-female fruit, and in that room thick with aphrodisiac heat, Shu Hanqing had already cast aside all his pride and reserve, pressing himself forward voluntarily.
And what happened?
Mu Ye had managed to restrain himself.
His complete lack of reaction back then was ironclad proof—it could only mean that Mu Ye had never had the slightest interest in his body.
Yet Lei Zheng's absurd proposal just now had been accepted through clenched teeth.
—Could it be that the person he was actually into was Rong Hua?
The moment this thought surfaced, Shu Hanqing felt sick to his stomach; the disgust and aversion between those two were unmistakably real.
Shu Hanqing couldn't figure it out, so he just stopped thinking about it.
After all, in both lifetimes combined, Mu Ye had never really opened his heart to him.
If Shu Hanqing hadn't already died once, then today in that hospital room, looking at those pleading, humble eyes, he might have really fallen for it again.
The plot guide: "So what are you gonna do next?"
What now?
He still had to leave, of course. Since Mu Ye insisted on agreeing, fine then. He'd just have to see with his own eyes exactly how far Mu Ye could take it.
The wound on his knee had started to swell and turn red. Shu Hanqing stumbled slightly as he got up, limping his way back toward his quarters.
He had barely made it to the entrance of the base residence when he looked up and saw that Mu Ye had already come back to the base.
The moment he spotted Shu Hanqing, Mu Ye let out a sigh of relief.
Then Mu Ye's gaze quickly dropped, and when he saw Shu Hanqing's knee, his brows furrowed.
"Hanqing, what happened to your leg?" Mu Ye grabbed his arm. "Come inside, I'll clean it up for you."
Shu Hanqing didn't struggle, yielding to his pull, letting himself be half-led into the room.
Mu Ye's room was just like the man himself—always immaculately tidy, clean to an almost excessive degree.
Once inside, Mu Ye pulled over a wooden chair, pressed Shu Hanqing down into it, and turned to rummage through the cabinet for a medical kit.
Mu Ye knelt on one knee, crouching in front of Shu Hanqing.
The wound had scraped off a layer of skin, and Shu Hanqing looked down at him from above.
From this angle, he could see the sharp, handsome bridge of Mu Ye's nose and those eyes, slightly lowered, locked onto the wound.
Mu Ye pinched a cotton swab dipped in dark brown iodine, carefully cleaning the dust around the wound.
A sharp sting hit him, and Shu Hanqing flinched on instinct.
The instant his calf went tight, Mu Ye, crouched in front of him, stopped what he was doing. He leaned in a little and blew two soft breaths over the red, swollen skin.
Shu Hanqing, like he'd been burned, pursed his lips stiffly and scooted his leg back.
Mu Ye looked up. "Does it hurt? Next time, don't go running off in such a hurry, and don't get out of my sight. In the ward just now, the words I said myself—"
Shu Hanqing clearly wasn't about to accept this tender show of concern.
He looked down at the man half-kneeling in front of him, then suddenly leaned in, his lean forearm hooking around Mu Ye's neck and pressing his lips to Mu Ye's.
Shu Hanqing's cool fingertips pressed against Mu Ye's racing carotid artery.
Mu Ye stood there frozen, his deep, dark eyes locked on the face right in front of him, his pupils shrinking to pinpricks in sheer shock.
A few thick, sticky seconds crawled by.
In the brief space between their tangled mouths, Shu Hanqing raised an eyebrow slightly, thinking how insanely patient Mu Ye was—even at this point, he could still hold back his instincts and not slap this shameless bastard away.
Honestly, it was hilarious.
Shu Hanqing pulled back, raised the right hand that had just been pressing on the man's neck, and wiped his red lips with the back of his hand.
Then he spat out provocatively: "Captain, why aren't you cooperating at all? Even Rong Hua knows to open his mouth when he kisses."
Shu Hanqing's goal was dead simple—he meant to humiliate him.
This move was childish and underhanded, sure; he wanted to use the very desire Mu Ye found most shameful and ran from to slap him right across the face.
Sure enough, the second those words hit, a pained, restrained look crossed Mu Ye's face.
Shu Hanqing caught every flicker on his face and couldn't help thinking: Look, I just grazed his lips, and he's acting like some virtuous maiden who's been gravely wronged. If we actually got to bed, he'd probably bolt.
He really didn't get how Mu Ye could shamelessly spout that crap about loving him in the ward.
Just the mention of Rong Hua's name made Mu Ye's jealousy and resentment surge out of control.
Mu Ye stood up, his tall frame sweeping up like a gust of wind.
Seeing that, Shu Hanqing took his sweet time getting up from the wooden chair.
Not a hint of fear as he looked up at Mu Ye, a good half head taller, and trailed his fingers across Mu Ye's chest, deliberately needling him with a teasing voice: "What, can't handle it already? Captain, you didn't seriously think I sleep in the same bed with someone every night just to tell bedtime stories, did you?"
The veins on the back of Mu Ye's hand stood out from sheer restraint, his thin lips pressed into a hard line, he forced out: "Hanqing... stop talking."
But Shu Hanqing wasn't having it.
All the pent-up bitterness and resentment from two lifetimes finally found their one outlet in this moment. It had been ages since he'd felt this desperate to rip off someone's fake mask and show the ugly mess underneath.
He reached up and undid the buttons on his shirt.
His pale, firm collarbone and the crisscrossing hickeys on his chest and ribs were laid bare in the open air.
Shu Hanqing laughed, a gorgeous, unsettling curve hooking at the corner of his eye: "See this? Rong Hua did all of it. Captain, do you want to see more?"
As he talked, he kept sliding his fingers lower.
He undid the last button with a nasty smirk, letting the loose shirt hang open on both sides, flashing his tight, cut abs and lean waistline right in front of him.
It was so much that Mu Ye didn't know where to look.
Mu Ye dropped his gaze, looking flustered, his thick lashes throwing a dark shadow over his eyes, hiding everything underneath.
But then, out of nowhere, he reached out, grabbed Shu Hanqing's collar, and started to button it back up.
Can't take it already?
Afraid Mu Ye hadn't seen enough, Shu Hanqing took a big step forward, pressing his warm body flush against him, nearly whispering right into Mu Ye's ear.
Warm breath murmured at Mu Ye's ear.
"Already feeling uncomfortable enough to close your eyes? Captain, let me tell you the truth—what you stumbled upon in that room that day doesn't even scratch the surface. We do it over and over in bed, all the kinds of love you'd find disgusting for a lifetime."
Deep in his mind, the Plot Guide exclaimed in shock: "...What exactly are you doing?"
Shu Hanqing replied matter-of-factly: "What else? Provoking him, scaring him. Didn't you see how his eyes nearly bled with rage when I mentioned Rong Hua just now? In my past life, I was too kind-hearted—I never thought of using such despicable means to slap his face."
Mu Ye was the most tolerant and self-restrained person Shu Hanqing had ever met.
Pathological self-discipline was etched into this man's very bones, and precisely because of that, Shu Hanqing truly didn't believe Mu Ye could accept such a chaotic relationship without any qualms.
Shu Hanqing: "In a few days, I'll leave this place completely. Maybe I'll never come back again."
Never come back.
Mu Ye: "No."
Shu Hanqing looked at his nearly out-of-control expression, his eyes suddenly growing complex: "Captain, I'm not your personal possession, nor am I someone you can command at will. You can't control me—I'm leaving in a few days."
Before he could finish, Mu Ye viciously wrapped his arms around Shu Hanqing's waist, pulling him into a tight embrace. Within moments, his slender lower back went numb from the pressure.
"Hanqing... don't go, please... don't go..."
Seeing that he'd pushed the man to this point, Shu Hanqing decided to go all the way and said helplessly: "Let me go, Captain. I'm a normal man. I don't need a partner who can't even handle basic intimate contact. Do you understand?"
Incapable.
Those two words were the ultimate humiliation for any man at any time.
But instead of releasing him in shame as Shu Hanqing had hoped, Mu Ye only held him even tighter.
Mu Ye: "Don't go to him. I can do it too."
Without even giving Shu Hanqing a chance to sneer, Mu Ye suddenly opened his mouth and bit down hard on the exposed skin of Shu Hanqing's neck.
Shu Hanqing gasped, and the next moment, Mu Ye captured his lips, plunging into his warm, moist mouth.
He couldn't even articulate what twisted thought was running through his mind—was Mu Ye, this hypocrite, really willing to throw all caution to the wind just to keep him here?
But there was no time left for him to analyze it.
Shu Hanqing was suddenly pressed onto the bed.
Mu Ye loomed over him, tearing open the few remaining buttons of Shu Hanqing's shirt in one swift motion.
Shu Hanqing: “……”
Damn, that’s wild.
Mu Ye’s handsome face was contorted with barely restrained lust, greedily mouthing and sucking every inch of skin on his neck.
An utterly absurd thought flashed through Shu Hanqing’s mind.
—So this old virgin Mu Ye actually had it in him after all.
A man’s desire is always ready to ignite at the slightest touch.
Within just a few seconds, that primal, ferocious masculine desire was fully stirred between their pressed-together bodies.
Shu Hanqing’s originally icy eyes were now pooled with a thick, viscous desire. His Adam’s apple bobbed violently with each movement, and a broken, muffled groan escaped his lips.
As the scene began spiraling out of control, the plot guide forced Shu Hanqing to snap out of it, to stop before something irreparable happened—warning that any more explicit content would get the scene blocked.
Shu Hanqing half-opened his hazy, fluttering lashes, staring at the mottled, peeling white plaster on the ceiling with a dazed, wandering gaze. Refusing to quit until the bitter end, he muttered: “…I bet his gun has no bullets.”
And then the man pressing down on him fired a live round at Shu Hanqing, pulling the trigger hard.
