The body in her arms was scorching hot. Ye Chengxing, being a doctor, deduced almost immediately from the various signs that Li Jia had a fever.

Recalling, she remembered some details she had previously overlooked.

Li Jia's fever didn't seem to be accidental but rather intentional... The person who left the room earlier had mentioned this with a tone that lingered in her mind: "Someone with a fever feels quite different in bed."

At this realization, Ye Chengxing understood the situation and couldn’t help but mutter under her breath.

What kind of scum were these people?

As the drug took full effect, the Omega seemed to have a blurred consciousness, yet remained wary and resistant even as she was held. Ye Chengxing calmed herself, gently patted Li Jia’s back, and said soothingly, "Jia, I’m taking you to the hospital."

It was unclear if Li Jia heard her. She bit her lip hard, which turned an even brighter red due to the blood rushing to it.

In her mind, the image of the last smiling figure falling from a tall building overlapped with the Omega in her arms, causing Ye Chengxing’s heart to ache.

She took off her coat and draped it over Li Jia, then lifted her up. Despite Li Jia being over one meter seventy tall, she felt like a sheet of paper in Ye Chengxing’s arms, her waist so slender it seemed fragile. Ye Chengxing tightened the coat around her, holding Li Jia close to her chest, ensuring the coat covered the Omega completely.

Even though Ye Chengxing tried to move as gently as possible, Li Jia still sensed it. She was barely able to control her actions as the drug swept through her body, making her crave the comfort of an Alpha.

The white peach pheromones lingered around Ye Chengxing, but the owner of those pheromones let out a painful whimper, opening her mouth to bite forcefully into Ye Chengxing’s shoulder. She bit down hard, drawing blood almost instantly.

Despite this, Ye Chengxing didn’t react, carrying Li Jia steadily out of the room while repeating softly in the Omega’s ear, "Jia, don’t be afraid. I won’t do anything to you. We’ll be at the hospital soon..."

Truthfully, such a strong bite hurt, but more than the pain, she felt sympathy and pity.

Ye Chengxing didn’t know why the 001 system chose her or why she was placed in this world. It could be fate or something else, but since she was here, she would do her best to heal Li Jia.

Not just because of the mission, but thinking about the subsequent plot and the past of the person in her arms made it difficult for her to remain indifferent.

The night grew deeper, fully entering the late hours. Beyond the floor-to-ceiling windows, the darkness was heavy, and beneath the night’s cover, the people here had truly begun their revelry.

The entire banquet scene had transformed into a gathering of unspeakable debauchery.

Inside the room, the soundproof walls had muffled the noise, but now in the hallway, scenes of Alphas and Omegas succumbing to their desires were visible at every glance. The sounds of water, panting, and lewd words filled the air.

Ye Chengxing wasn’t the only one to hear these sounds; clearly, Li Jia heard them too.

The most direct manifestation was the increased trembling of the Omega in her arms. As if aware of this change, Li Jia suddenly bit Ye Chengxing harder, with intense hatred, almost as if trying to tear a piece of flesh from her.

Ye Chengxing felt the skin on her shoulder go numb. She could smell the metallic scent of blood and feel it sliding down the wound.

Despite this, she didn’t let go, instead holding Li Jia tighter and reaching out a hand to gently but unobtrusively cover Li Jia’s ears.

The woman’s hand was soft, and the Omega in her arms seemed to pause for a second, as if surprised by her action.

This long corridor seemed endless. Ye Chengxing heard friends of her original self speaking to her. With many Alphas and Omegas in the hallway, she and Li Jia stood out amidst the chaos.

"Tsk tsk tsk, Acheng, not bad for a newly differentiated Alpha. You have great stamina, knocking her out so quickly?" The person spoke with a sticky, teasing tone. "You’re not thinking of taking her to the hospital, are you? Don’t worry, she won’t die. But since you’re done, why don’t you let me have a taste?"

Ye Chengxing recognized this person. When she first opened her eyes, this person, named Zhang Shanle, was standing beside her in the room, a regular in this circle.

Zhang Shanle approached with a smile, holding a glass of red wine and an Omega in her arms. The lighting in the hallway was disorienting, and Ye Chengxing suddenly felt a strong sense of disgust as she looked at this despicable friend of her original self.

The coldness in Ye Chengxing’s eyes was evident. Zhang Shanle’s smile froze, but she still tried to maintain composure, saying, "What’s wrong, Acheng? After you’ve had your fun, can’t I have what’s left? You’re being unreasonable..."

But before she could finish, the Alpha released her pheromones. The warm fragrance of oolong tea now carried a chilling aura, evoking instinctive fear.

"Get out of my way. Don’t make me say it again," Ye Chengxing said coldly.

By the time Zhang Shanle realized what happened, she found herself sitting on the ground, while Ye Chengxing had already left the hallway with Li Jia.

The unsteady wine glass tipped over, spilling red wine slowly from its rim.

Looking at the ground in front of her, Zhang Shanle muttered, "Isn’t Ye Chengxing just a useless heir...?" When did her pheromones become so powerful?

Once they left the hallway and walked a little further, they were completely away from the banquet area.

The original self had arrived in a car with her group of friends. If Ye Chengxing hadn’t come through today, the original self would have left with them.

But Ye Chengxing came and changed the plot, so she wouldn’t be leaving with those friends.

The area where the banquet was held wasn’t far from the city center and was quite bustling. However, every passing driver sped past them, seemingly unwilling to stop.

Finally managing to hail a car, the driver stopped only because they hadn’t seen them clearly. Just as the driver was about to step on the gas and refuse the ride, Ye Chengxing noticed the intention and quickly opened the door, getting in the car with Li Jia. She gave the address of the nearest hospital.

With everyone in the car and the destination given, the driver didn’t drive off immediately but instead glanced nervously at the rearview mirror. Upon noticing the Buddhist beads on Ye Chengxing’s wrist, the driver visibly became more frightened. "Miss Ye, do you want to switch cars?"

Hearing the driver use her surname, Ye Chengxing’s eyebrows subtly moved. In a flash, she seemed to understand why the previous cars hadn’t stopped despite seeing her hailing a ride and having no other passengers.

"No need to switch," Ye Chengxing replied firmly.

Hailing a cab was proving difficult, and this one had only stopped because the driver hadn’t seen them clearly. Letting this car go meant she’d have to walk to the hospital with Li Jia in her arms, which wasn’t feasible.

The driver, upon hearing her response, looked as if they were about to cry but ultimately agreed.

Even though she had guessed some reasons, Ye Chengxing asked, "Are you afraid of me?"

The driver nearly blurted out, "Isn’t it obvious?" but managed to hold back, chuckling awkwardly, "No, no, how could I be? I’m just feeling the heat. But there probably isn’t a driver around here who doesn’t recognize Miss Ye."

Ye Chengxing pondered this after the driver’s response.

Due to the urgency, the system had provided her with a general overview of the plot, but she hadn’t had time to thoroughly examine the memories of her original self.

Wait until we get to the hospital and Li Jia's condition stabilizes a bit before reviewing it.

The driver didn't say another word after that, and Ye Chengxing noticed the cold sweat trickling down his cheek, so she stopped asking questions. Any doubts would likely be clarified once she thoroughly reviewed her original body’s memories.

Her cessation of questioning seemed to relieve the driver, and silence fell in the car.

But Li Jia started squirming.

Actually, Li Jia had calmed down after they left the gathering and had been quietly resting in Ye Chengxing's arms.

Now, however, as if overheated, she began wriggling around.

Since Li Jia was still wearing only the sheer dress and hadn’t had time to change, Ye Chengxing's coat remained draped over her. Currently, the Omega was trying to push the coat off and remove the thin layer of fabric covering her body.

From this angle, Ye Chengxing could see the moonlight hue of Li Jia's skin exposed by her movements. The Omega's face was flushed with arousal, her lips slightly parted, and her warm breath brushed against Ye Chengxing.

Feeling her cheeks heat up, Ye Chengxing looked away. She first tried to hold down the coat, but when that failed, she ended up firmly grasping both of Li Jia's wrists, her tone soothing. "We're almost at the hospital. Just bear with it a little longer, okay?"

Despite Ye Chengxing lowering her voice, the driver, who was right in front, heard everything and was too frightened by her gentle tone to breathe loudly.

With her wrists restrained, Li Jia quieted somewhat. Hearing Ye Chengxing's calming voice, she opened her eyes and looked at her. Beads of sweat had formed on her forehead, and some strands of hair had fallen onto her lips.

The look Li Jia gave Ye Chengxing was complex—desire from the drug, the pain of not being able to control her actions, endless wariness and suspicion, and even a hint of disgust.

Meeting her gaze, Ye Chengxing's eyes swept across the Omega's face, and she paused before raising her hand.

Seeing her move, Li Jia's pupils constricted sharply.

But nothing happened as expected. Ye Chengxing merely lifted her hand to tuck the strand of hair behind Li Jia's ear. Her voice was soft, filled with gentleness and encouragement. "Li Jia, don't be afraid. We've already left. Once we get to the hospital, you'll feel better. Just hang on a little longer, okay?"

Their position was somewhat intimate. The backseat of the taxi wasn't very spacious, especially since they weren't sitting side by side, but rather one in the other's lap.

The scenery outside the window rushed past, and the warm yellow light from the street lamps occasionally illuminated the interior.

In this close proximity, Ye Chengxing noticed how long and thick Li Jia's eyelashes were, paired with her reddened eyes, making her look like a red-eyed rabbit spirit.

Unable to resist, she reached up to gently stroke Li Jia's long hair.

Caught off guard by the touch on her head, Li Jia appeared stunned for a moment but quickly regained her composure, her gaze sharpening. Her lips moved as if about to utter a threatening remark, but as soon as she opened her mouth, her body went limp in Ye Chengxing's arms.

Looking at Li Jia's closed eyes, Ye Chengxing reached out to touch her forehead, finding it even hotter than before.

She pulled Li Jia closer into her embrace and spoke to the driver with a hint of urgency in her voice. "Sir, can you drive a bit faster?"
