Chapter 7
byChapter 7
=================
The doctor didn't catch the deeper meaning in Li Jia's words. Hearing her say this, her first reaction was that she had misunderstood, and she couldn't help but feel a bit embarrassed: "I'm sorry..."
Li Jia smiled good-naturedly. She already had flowers in her arms, making her seem all the more innocent and harmless.
At this moment, Ye Chengxing returned after finishing the discharge procedures. She met the doctor's apologetic gaze in the room, and the other person's tone was incredibly sincere: "I'm sorry, I've misunderstood you these past few days."
Ye Chengxing was taken aback for a moment: "It's okay."
In truth... it wasn't really a misunderstanding. This was because she had transmigrated here. If she hadn't, the "Ye Chengxing" of this world would indeed have been the kind of scum Alpha the doctor saw her as.
The discharge procedures were already completed, and Li Jia followed Ye Chengxing into the elevator.
Ye Chengxing had parked the car in the hospital parking lot.
—After Li Jia's health improved, she found a time to drive the car over.
Those scumbag friends of her original body hadn't stopped sending messages these past two days, but Ye Chengxing simply hadn't replied to any of them.
Once they were in the car, she handed a beautifully wrapped small box to Li Jia with a smile: "A discharge gift."
Li Jia took the box, seemingly sensing something, her eyes flickering slightly.
She opened the box, and sure enough—
Inside was the latest model of a mobile phone.
She thought that the changes in this life were too great, but then she remembered Ye Chengxing's peculiar preferences and found it reasonable.
Still, upon closer reflection, there was a faint sense of incongruity.
All she had now was a face and a body, and she had acted sufficiently dependent and trusting. Yet, so many days had passed, and Ye Chengxing hadn't revealed any ulterior motives; instead, she had become increasingly attentive and considerate.
This life's Ye Chengxing shared a subtle similarity with the previous one, but seemed... not entirely the same.
Ye Chengxing started the car, stealing a glance at Li Jia from the corner of her eye during a break in traffic.
The Omega held the box tightly, her expression slightly frozen.
Ye Chengxing felt a little nervous. She really didn't know much about this world, even though she had regained her memories and read some of the original text. However, these everyday things weren't mentioned in detail in either of those sources. Therefore, she didn't know if this phone was considered good, thinking that Li Jia might not like it, she said: "If you don't like it, we can get something else. It's fine."
Li Jia took the phone out of the box. The cool touch of the device against her skin made her suddenly chuckle silently.
"There's nothing wrong with it. I just didn't expect Sister to buy me a phone. It's a bit sudden, since before, they wouldn't let me touch these kinds of things..." Li Jia disguised her tone flawlessly while lowering her eyelashes.
She was intrigued by the guessing game but couldn't figure out what Ye Chengxing's next move would be.
Was Ye Chengxing planning to continue being nice to her to win her heart and then crush it underfoot?
If so, she hoped she could try harder. At this level, it wasn't enough to make her feel pleasure.
Ye Chengxing was completely unaware of Li Jia's thoughts. Since she was driving, she focused her attention on the road.
Ever since witnessing the flying taxi, Ye Chengxing had gone to study the traffic rules of this world. She memorized them thoroughly, but for now, she was still more accustomed to driving on the ground. She planned to try driving in the air when she was alone in the car and there weren't many people around.
As Ye Chengxing drove, she heard the Omega's cautious and bewildered tone, and couldn't help but think of those scumbags. She felt heartbroken for the villainess, becoming more and more sympathetic. Almost blurting out, "What's a phone? I'll buy you anything you want," but held back.
Saying it outright would likely cause misunderstandings, after all, her relationship with Li Jia wasn't that intimate yet. Although she had made Li Jia call her sister, in the Omega's eyes, her kindness might seem inexplicable.
There was no real reason for this situation, so she needed to take things step by step.
Ye Chengxing repeated this phrase three times in her mind, steadying herself, and brought up another topic: "By the way, I found an empty house for you, but it hasn't been cleaned up yet. Can you stay at my place for the time being?"
Li Jia listened to her voice, a hint of interest flashing in her eyes.
Was she finally going to reveal her true colors?
Although she hadn't had enough fun yet, games never truly satisfied.
She slowly opened her lips, like a hunter who had finally lured her prey, but wasn't in a rush: "Sister, isn't this too much trouble for you?"
"Not at all," In the brief exchange, the car arrived at the villa area. Ye Chengxing parked the car, got out, and opened the door on Li Jia's side, "Make yourself at home here."
Li Jia picked up the phone, holding the gift box close to her chest, looking incredibly treasured. She lowered her gaze slightly, appearing embarrassed as she softly acknowledged: "Sister, you're so good to me. I will repay you."
From an angle Ye Chengxing couldn't see, the Omega's pupils trembled violently with excitement and pleasure.
Killing her in her own home seemed like a decent choice as well.
...
Ye Chengxing spent most of the past two days at the hospital, taking care of Li Jia. Whenever she needed something, she mostly arranged for her assistant to deliver it or bought new items directly.
Yesterday, she drove one of the cars from the garage to the hospital for convenience when Li Jia was discharged today.
She hadn't spent much time at the villa, partly because of Li Jia, and partly because the villa's decor was too gloomy. Blood-red colors filled the entire villa, and the original owner had collected many grotesque items. Staying there for long periods made her feel psychologically oppressed. Ye Chengxing instructed the artificial intelligence to change everything, including its appearance. However, due to the extensive changes required, it would take several hours, and the estimated completion time coincided with Li Jia's discharge day.
Although she had encountered the presence of artificial intelligence in daily life, Ye Chengxing was still somewhat unaccustomed to it when she opened the door and faced the artificial intelligence rushing towards her.
The artificial intelligence had changed from its previous appearance, which resembled a decaying human head, to a pure white, round robot with four metal wheels below. There was a display screen where its face would be, with features represented by emoticons, making it look very cute, like an enthusiastic little sun.
"Master, you're finally home."
Saying this, it slid over to Li Jia, but when it reached her, its tone became much more polite: "This seems to be a new face. Master, do you want me to remember it?"
Ye Chengxing couldn't help but feel a bit awkward when the artificial intelligence called her "master," then said: "Yes."
Recalling the general process, she understood that the artificial intelligence followed the master's instructions, meaning she could simply give verbal commands. So, Ye Chengxing pronounced Li Jia's name, emphasizing the specific characters used to avoid confusion, making it easier for the artificial intelligence to register and remember.
After the registration was completed, the AI's attitude towards Li Jia became much warmer. It bustled around, fetching slippers for them and taking away their outerwear that they had changed out of.
Ye Chengxing couldn't help but silently marvel at how convenient the high technology in this world was.
The AI was very efficient. The entire villa was redecorated with a bright, unified color scheme, and there were many spare rooms, each one neatly arranged and ready for immediate occupancy.
Ye Chengxing's room was on the second floor. She looked at the Omega still standing by the door and smiled warmly at her. "Li Jia, you can choose whichever room you want to stay in. Your information has already been registered. If you need any help, just call... Little Bai to assist you."
As she spoke, Ye Chengxing stumbled over the name, realizing that the original owner hadn't given the AI a name. Calling it simply 'AI' seemed odd, so she blurted out 'Little Bai' as a makeshift name.
Afterward, she pondered for a moment.
Well, a small, round white robot; calling it Little Bai wasn't too far off.
This villa was only inhabited by an Alpha, and Li Jia was the only person registered besides Ye Chengxing.
Meeting Ye Chengxing's smiling gaze, Li Jia suddenly found herself unable to understand Ye Chengxing's actions, doubting her own assumptions for the first time.
Ye Chengxing hadn't deliberately hidden anything from her during the registration process, so Li Jia clearly saw that Ye Chengxing had granted her the same level of access as herself.
This meant that Li Jia now had full management rights over the entire villa, including all passwords. If she wanted to do something, Ye Chengxing wouldn't even know about it.
Why did Ye Chengxing grant her such high-level access?
Having returned from her previous life, although the decoration style had changed, Li Jia knew that this was the villa where Ye Chengxing lived. It wasn't some special place bought for pampering a pet. Yet, knowing this made things even more confusing.
Hadn't she seen countless intimate partners argue over issues related to access settings?
Was Ye Chengxing willing to spend so much, granting her the highest level of access just to win this game? Wasn't she afraid of losing everything if she bet wrong?
Li Jia watched the AI rolling around in the sunlight not far away. Its face displayed an emoticon representing happiness. Beyond the floor-to-ceiling windows, the bright sunlight reflected off the light-colored floor, almost creating another layer of light.
She couldn't help wondering why Ye Chengxing's surroundings were always so bright in this life.
It was too bright.
As if blinded by the light, Li Jia turned her gaze away. "Sis, aren't you afraid that I might do something with such high-level access? Or is it that Sis grants this level of access to anyone she brings back?"
Ye Chengxing was taken aback by Li Jia's words and hurriedly denied it. "How could I grant such high-level access to just anyone?"
From a distance that wasn't too far, Ye Chengxing met Li Jia's eyes.
She smiled brightly. "But it's you who came home with me. I trust you."
