Chapter 255
by 宁世久Chapter 255
Déjà vu.
Not long ago, it seemed not so distant, Lin was on the tram in Spire City, heading back to the office of the Ceremony Department in District Two.
Silver Moon used the Seed of Desire to descend into the body of Shuye, the former director of the Ceremony Department. The forest in the dream grew everywhere, and the tram tracks turned into tree roots, overturning the tram he was sitting in.
But the windows of the tram were open then; if one reacted quickly enough, there was time to jump out.
However, the sealed headquarters train of the Judicature had windows that could not be opened, and opening them would only give the enemy an opportunity.
Lin felt like meat in a can, a piece of meat too exhausted to move.
Fortunately, the small light sprite was still opposite him. At the moment the carriage took flight, the Light Dragon, equally unaware of what was happening, spread its arms in the form of the light sprite. A bright yellow sphere expanded, enveloping both It and Lin within its protective embrace.
The falling wardrobe, broken steel plates, and flying mirrors—
Large and small objects grazed the edge of the light sphere, melting or burning upon contact.
Lin and the light sprite floated inside the light sphere. The blindfolded ritualist pursed his lips, struggling to raise his hand, pulling off the bandage over his eyes while tugging at the pearl and glass pendants hanging from his chest.
His black hair fluttered, earrings danced, and the silver glow from the ritual array on his gloves flickered faintly.
With the ritual poised to unleash, he finally mustered the strength to ask, "What happened!"
Everyone knew the Light Dragon was acting as Lin's bodyguard, but their attention was entirely elsewhere. Lin saw the light sprite’s mouth slightly open, turning to look towards the direction of the harbor.
...Senior, say something!
Lin rarely missed his telepathy, but at this moment, he had no time to leave his body and return to the Spirit Realm.
He could only follow the Light Dragon’s gaze in that direction. Initially puzzled, the next second, he heard that voice.
It was very soft, softer even than the sudden, slight crack of an eggshell, yet for some reason, in Lin’s perception, it was deafening.
The light sprite cried out loudly, "The dome is broken!"
What dome? Lin’s eyes widened, even the silver ritual array within them shimmered for a moment.
A second later, he reacted, pressing further, "Which dome is broken? The Dark Sea Cave?"
It could only be the Dark Sea Cave, farther out at sea than the harbor, only the Dark Sea Cave.
Clearly, after using the Dark Sea Cave and the Mushroom King to activate the Mother of Sourceblood and the Light Dragon, the three major evil gods had finally found their chance.
Just when Lin thought the war was about to end, They brazenly declared that this was only the beginning.
The Light Dragon couldn’t even respond, Its main body and divine corporeal array likely running at full capacity to regain control of the battle outside the dome and quickly patch up the cracks.
But the three evil gods wouldn’t allow it; They had finally managed to directly intervene in this underground world.
At the Egg City station, the light sphere melted a strangely shaped large hole in the carriage, and then the colliding carriages began to explode one after another.
Booms and massive fireballs followed in quick succession, thick black smoke obscuring everyone’s view.
Lin was relieved that there weren’t many people at headquarters today; though the scene was grand, the few mid-to-high-level professionals on duty would likely only be injured. He slowed his breathing to avoid depleting the air inside the light sphere shield too quickly.
At that moment, footsteps approached.
They drowned out the ongoing explosions, as if on a different channel from reality. When Lin first heard them, they were far away, but by the time he turned to locate the source, they were already outside the light sphere.
A girl, with long white hair trailing on the ground, dressed in a nearly transparent gauzy dress, her skin as white as snow and porcelain, emitting a faint glow, stepped barefoot over the burning ruins, completely unaffected by the flames, and smiled warmly at those inside the light sphere.
Her eyes were also white, without pupils. Upon closer inspection, one could see concentric rings on the white irises.
Lin held his breath.
No introduction was needed; Lin knew who She was, and She knew Lin recognized Her. The Silver Moon maiden smiled and greeted, "Want to play?"
Meanwhile, inside Egg City.
Solomon heard the call of the Lord.
"Come back quickly!" He commanded.
Solomon, however, stopped in his tracks, hesitated for a moment, and then sprinted away from the city center, as swift as light.
Unless through teleportation, almost no human could keep up with his speed, but while shadows might not catch up to light, they always followed closely behind.
Solomon glanced back, seeing the familiar raccoon person baring its teeth and waving its claws at him.
Heng Ruhaken looked much the same as in life, except that the shot from Hui Cui had reportedly lifted his skull cap. But under the necromancer’s skill, such repairs were no problem.
Apart from his slightly grayish-blue skin, which stood out, his limb joints were even more flexible than in life.
Well, it wasn’t too surprising. Not having disposed of Heng Ruhaken’s body, leaving it in the hands of the Shadowblade, Solomon had anticipated facing Heng Ruhaken’s undead form again.
There was also the new apostle of the Aberrant Sect, Yuan Sen Sebo, whom Lin mentioned. He had struck him once, unsure if he had died. Solomon had thought at the time that whether dead or alive made little difference.
For followers of evil gods, if their bodies were not cremated and scattered, they were as good as alive.
For example, at that moment, the ermine girl, whose face above the nose was missing, passed by Xiu Ying Bodde, as if she hadn’t died at all.
The group from the Aberrant Sect, chasing the experimental subject, had just landed at a hidden port belonging to their sect by the sea, unaware of what had happened at the Dark Sea Cave.
They had caught up with the experimental subject but couldn’t capture it. Then they encountered a team of judges, leading to an immediate battle.
At that moment, the familiar but half-headed, now female Yuan Sen Sebo, appeared out of nowhere, directly entering the fray.
Xiu Ying Bode stopped his movements.
He didn't want to stop, but his limbs felt as if they were being forcibly controlled.
Was it because of the sudden appearance of Yuan Sen Sebo? Xiu Ying Bode hadn't heard from him in a while. It seemed he had disappeared with that apostle who appeared and vanished just as suddenly.
Perhaps the apostle had sent him on some mission? That was what Xiu Ying Bode had guessed before.
Although he and Yuan Sen Sebo weren't on the same page within the cult, even he couldn't help but secretly acknowledge that the Minkman was the strongest Fiend he had ever seen. Being entrusted with important tasks was well-deserved.
Now, the headless Yuan Sen Sebo approached the Seventh Test Subject and the First Test Subject, who had been intercepted by the Seventh.
Fiend bloodlines fought each other, limbs, organs, and blood scattered everywhere.
The fight was so intense that there could be no outcome other than one of them dying. The two test subjects, half-siblings with different fathers, had no other possibility.
But as Yuan Sen Sebo approached, they slowly stopped their actions.
The Seventh withdrew from her tense state and lunged at Yuan Sen Sebo, clinging to his arm and even coquettishly complaining to this half-headed revenant, "I knew you wouldn't abandon me. I want to soak in a hot spring; take me there quickly!"
The First, however, grew increasingly stiff. Despite making the motion to escape, she remained rooted to the spot.
The girl's expression was one of struggle, but her efforts were futile.
Yuan Sen Sebo, with only half a head, raised his hand to pinch the Seventh's wolf ears.
"The hot spring is fine," he said gently, "but didn't you really want to kill the First? Kill the First first, and not only will you have the hot spring, but I'll stay with you all day."
So the Seventh looked at the First.
A judge tried to intervene, but the half-headed Yuan Sen Sebo waved his hand, deflecting the judge's attack onto a teammate.
The Seventh, who had swum ashore on her own, rekindled her excitement. She began to transform: her muscles bulged, her hair thickened, her snout elongated, and she bared sharp fangs. Her breath was a deep purple toxic mist.
As for the First, she realized she couldn't leave, but she still retained the ability to fight.
However, against the fully berserked fellow test subject, the non-berserked First had no chance of winning.
After hesitating for just a few seconds, the test subject who thought she could live like a human was thrown away by the Seventh.
The Seventh pounced after her flying prey, clamping her fangs around the First's waist and swinging her left and right.
She only swung twice before she couldn't move anymore, because the First's bloodline burst forth, transforming her into a larger Fiend.
Two Fiends, equivalent to high-level professionals, collided, sending shockwaves that knocked away the surrounding evil god believers and judges.
It was already chaotic, but the other Fiend-blooded test subjects who came with Xiu Ying Bode also ignored his commands and joined the fray.
Xiu Ying Bode had no choice but to retreat, no, he didn't want to retreat, but someone was controlling his body to do so.
Completely baffled by who was doing this, Xiu Ying Bode was terrified, hearing himself murmur, "Mirror Eye."
"Mirror Eye."
"Mirror Eye."
"Oh, Mirror Eye..."
A mirror shattered against the wall, leaving a trail of ground glass fragments.
Lin's figure appeared nearby, seeing the light fairy's glow extinguish in the Silver Moon Maiden's hand, dissipating into the air.
"You're so calm," the Silver Moon Maiden observed Lin without looking at the light fairy, "Do you think someone will come to save you?"
Her finger lightly touched her moist lips, her smile bright.
"It's impossible. I've worked hard to create this opportunity. Today, it's just you and me.
"Even your little lover can't possibly come to help you~"

Spire City.
Hui Cui, who had just supported the entire central-western continent alone, frowned and turned his head.
Someone knocked on his office door, not in any familiar rhythm.
Without waiting for his response, the person pushed the door open slightly.
Pollution seeped through the crack, and a bloodshot eye peered inside.
"Hello," the visitor spoke in a weak female voice, using a language Hui Cui didn't understand, yet strangely comprehensible to him, hesitantly saying, "Um, I'm Lin's mother... his superior, is he here?"
