Chapter 104: These Two Are Shamelessly Lying

    "No!"

The cry ripped through the training ground.

The guide beside him sprang to his feet, shouting again.

Only then did Fang Ran notice the shift in the arena. The Fire Sentinel, previously locked in combat with two Psychic Sentinels while the Water Sentinel kept a safe distance, had now gone berserk, seizing the Water Sentinel by the throat.

A Sentinel's advancement not only amplifies their powers but also boosts their physical prowess. This means an S-class Sentinel vastly outstrips others in both strength and stamina.

The B-class Water Sentinel was already crimson-faced, too weak to struggle. His Spiritual Sea, repeatedly assaulted, left him in a vulnerable state.

Though Sentinel training simulated real combat, participants shared an unspoken rule: never to inflict fatal harm.

Yet, the Fire Sentinel's expression was now utterly deranged—his face dark and bruised, eyes bulging and bloodshot, like a Rakshasa demon clawing its way from the underworld.

Fang Ran had initially found his demeanor reminiscent of Zhao Hengming's due to this very "aura of death."

However, this Sentinel's condition differed subtly. Zhao Hengming seemed drained of life, whereas this man appeared to be in a final, desperate frenzy, a burst of madness before vitality completely ebbed away.

As if roused by the startled cry, the Fire Sentinel slowly, jerkily, like a rusty gear, turned his head towards Fang Ran's direction, his gaze finally locking onto the guide beside him.

Suddenly, he bared his teeth, a ghostly grin spreading across his face.

The smile was grotesquely sinister, making Fang Ran's heart thump twice in fright.

"Fang Ran." Zhong Wan, beside him, visibly flinched. He tilted his head slightly and murmured, "Now I understand why you said his demeanor resembles Zhao Hengming's. It's that kind of frenzied aura of death—it's deeply unsettling."

"Yeah." Fang Ran exchanged a look with him. "I have a feeling he's about to do something..."

No sooner had he spoken than the Fire Sentinel's other hand conjured a ball of fire. With a violent flick, the raw, explosive energy hurtled towards them.

A collective gasp swept through the spectators.

No one had anticipated such an act from the Sentinel.

That was S-class Sentinel energy! Despite multiple defensive barriers separating the training ground from the stands, the sheer force of the energy surge was palpable.

Many instantly rose, some even scrambling from their seats.

    "Bang!"

The energy slammed into the innermost barrier, causing the nearly transparent screen to violently shudder and warp, rippling with faint blue waves.

The tremors intensified until, with a "crash," the barrier shattered. In the next instant, energy monitors across the training ground blared alarms.

The Fire Sentinel, still fixated on their direction, grinned again, his eyes growing increasingly disturbing—an arrogant expression marred by a strange emptiness in his gaze.

He flung the Water Sentinel aside and lunged towards the spectator stands.

The Water Sentinel was sent sprawling to the ground, blood oozing from his mouth.

The guide beside Fang Ran shrieked again, abandoning his seat and rushing forward, only to be intercepted by Sentinels maintaining order.

By now, chaos was beginning to ripple through the crowd.

Both Fu Zhangzhou and Lu Wenchuan rose, exchanging a quick, knowing glance.

"Fang Ran, stay here. Don't move."

    "Zhong Wan, don't leave."

    They spoke in perfect unison.

The two formidable Sentinels soared into the air, one on either side, sweeping over the crowd towards the central training ground. Lu Wenchuan halted at the edge, immediately raising his hand to press against the transparent barrier. Ice energy surged wildly from his palm.

The barrier's surface instantly fractured with spiderweb-like white ice patterns, rapidly solidifying. In just over ten seconds, a formidable ice wall materialized, once again sealing off the training ground from the spectator stands.

Meanwhile, Fu Zhangzhou hurtled directly towards the Fire Sentinel. With no other S-class Sentinels from District 5 present, he and Lu Wenchuan were the only ones who could handle this.

Seeing Fu Zhangzhou charging at him, the Sentinel's eyes flickered before he suddenly threw a punch.

A blinding flame erupted from his fist without warning. Though the man was clearly unstable, his S-class power was undeniable. The energy on his fist glowed with the searing white intensity of volcanic magma, radiating an aura of utter annihilation.

Fang Ran watched the Sentinel's mad rush towards Fu Zhangzhou, who remained unhurried and unmoving. He instinctively held his breath, his heart pounding, and rose to his feet.

    "Boom!"

The two S-class Fire Sentinels collided mid-air in the training ground.

A blinding white flash and scorching heatwave exploded outwards, the intense energy impact sweeping into every corner of the venue.

Shrill, rapid alarms blared again, and energy monitors flashed with urgent red lights.

The safety barriers on all four sides of the training ground instantly cracked, teetering on the brink of collapse. Fortunately, Lu Wenchuan had already erected an ice wall between the training ground and the spectator stands, and during the energy impact, he had reactivated his ability to reinforce it. Though everyone present was startled, they remained safe.

The white light persisted for several seconds. Fang Ran instinctively lowered his head and closed his eyes, but then heard a scream. Worried about Fu Zhangzhou, he forced his eyes open.

The sight before him made him pause.

    Was it over?

The Fire Sentinel appeared to have been flung back by the energy impact, lying motionless on the ground more than ten meters away, as if unconscious.

In contrast, Fu Zhangzhou remained suspended in mid-air, the muscles in his arms and neck taut, veins bulging, his entire being radiating the dominant aura of a post-energy burst.

As if sensing something, he turned his head to glance in Fang Ran's direction. Their gazes met across dozens of meters, clashing in the superheated air.

    He was fine.

Fang Ran immediately felt a wave of relief, slumping back into his seat.

    Thank goodness.

It seemed that even among Sentinels, there were significant disparities.

Despite both being S-class, Fu Zhangzhou's power utterly overwhelmed the frenzied Sentinel.

"Wow~ your man is incredible!" Zhong Wan exclaimed beside him, then chuckled. "But my A Chuan isn't bad either!"

"Yes, yes," Fang Ran sighed in relief. "Your A Chuan is the best."

At that moment, cheers of relief erupted from the spectator stands, and many Sentinels and staff cautiously made their way to the center of the training ground to assess the situation.

Lu Wenchuan also approached, bending down to check the Sentinel's condition before encasing him in a layer of energy, sealing him completely within ice.

He then signaled to Fu Zhangzhou, and the two immediately flew swiftly towards the spectator stands.

Just then, footsteps echoed from behind Fang Ran.

The patrol team had arrived, led once again by the same captain from the previous day.

He recognized both Fu Zhangzhou and Lu Wenchuan. Seeing them approaching with such formidable presence, he quickly stepped forward to greet them.

    "Sirs, could you please explain—"

But Fu Zhangzhou and Lu Wenchuan didn't even make eye contact, striding past him and leaping onto the spectator stands.

One took his guide's hand, the other rested his head on his guide's shoulder.

"Fang Ran, I was so scared earlier, my arm almost got burned—take a look..."

"Zhong Wan, that ice wall earlier... it froze my hand and now it really hurts."

The utterly ignored patrol captain stood dumbfounded. Had he heard correctly?

One was a 3S-class Fire Sentinel, the other a top-tier S-class Ice Sentinel—what utter nonsense were they spouting? Since when does a Sentinel get burned by their own superpower or suffer frostbite from their own ice?

Were these two just shamelessly lying through their teeth?
