Chapter 156
by 八十六笔Chapter 156
Shen Que merely glanced at Chen Zui after hearing his words, then immediately proceeded without any hesitation or delay. Chen Zui was a doctor, and it was said that in a doctor's eyes, people are just skin, flesh, and bones. Besides, although his equipment didn’t work, he was confident about its size and didn’t feel embarrassed.
Moreover, Chen Zui was a male doctor, so he cared even less.
Soon, Shen Que exposed himself in front of Chen Zui, hoping he could cure him so he’d have the confidence to go after Liang Yingzhang.
Chen Zui looked over, his expression unchanged.
“Has it always been like this, or did it happen suddenly?”
As he asked, he reached out and grabbed it, as naturally as if he were handling his own.
Shen Que was even more casual, leaning back against the desk, watching as Chen Zui felt him from top to bottom.
“Always been like this.”
Because of this, he had never even gotten himself off.
He was a fucking virgin, through and through.
Chen Zui took another step closer, so Shen Que took the cigarette from his mouth and stubbed it out in the ashtray. He had to protect this face—it could still be used to attract people to join them later.
“How did you know we were looking for a doctor?”
“I saw the flyers you put out.”
Though “flyers” was a stretch—they’d just written on scraps of paper: “West Town Invincible Gang recruiting doctors, pay is solid, come quick.”
Then they tossed them everywhere.
Shen Que snorted. “You’re lucky you’re the real deal. We had a fraud come before, and he ended up in a bad way.”
The scene in the room was a bit strange.
Two grown men standing close together, talking about serious matters, except one was sitting on the desk being examined by the other.
Dick.
Shen Que watched the hand that was feeling and prodding—it was undoubtedly the most beautiful hand he’d ever seen. Smooth and pale like a peeled hard-boiled egg, with long, straight fingers, evenly proportioned knuckles, and skin so thin and tight over the bones, making the veins somewhat visible.
What stood out was the pinkish tint at the fingertips and knuckles.
How to put it.
It looked soft and smelled nice, nothing like the hands of any other man he knew.
Compared to that hand, he suddenly felt his own thing was kinda rude. At least it was clean—he’d just showered after a boxing session.
Chen Zui: “Do you have no desire or thoughts in this area?”
After asking, he heard a self-mocking chuckle.
Looking up, he saw the fire burning in Shen Que’s overly bright eyes, intense and scorching. “I’m damn near bursting. If this doesn’t get better, my head’s gonna be nothing but desire.”
It wasn’t this bad at first, but as he grew older, year after year, with no relief, the desire grew stronger, the fire burning hotter.
This long-term state of dissatisfaction made his mind flash with kinky, dirty thoughts and images.
“Right now, I’m like a volcano about to erupt. On the surface, I seem fine, but inside, I’m so pent up I could burn everything.” Shen Que pulled out another cigarette. It was a roll-your-own; he wasn’t really addicted and couldn’t take the strong stuff, so it had more grass than tobacco. He smoked mostly to go with the flow and for the image.
What kind of boss would he be if he didn’t smoke?
“You might not understand it like that. Put simply, it’s like wanting to sneeze but not being able to, yet still constantly feeling the urge. So you just keep failing to sneeze.”
He took a frustrated drag—it was fucking agony.
Chen Zui helped him put everything away, zipped him up, and buttoned his pants.
“I understand.”
Shen Que looked down at himself, now all sorted, and blinked.
He’s really easygoing.
“Do you think this can be cured?”
“I’ll whip up some meds based on your symptoms and consider some possible treatments. We’ll give it a shot.”
Though he didn’t give a definite answer, it was still better than before. Previously, Shen Que didn’t even know how to try. And given how things were, how much worse could it get?
“Alright, I’ll do whatever it takes.”
Shen Que said it resolutely.
Then he noticed Chen Zui’s gaze fall on his cigarette. He took it from his mouth. “You want a drag?”
As he spoke, he exhaled a cloud of smoke.
To his surprise, Chen Zui suddenly leaned in, narrowed his eyes, and slowly inhaled the smoke Shen Que had exhaled through his nose. His eyelashes fluttered slightly as he frowned, then his thin lips parted to exhale the smoke, his eyes reopening, looking a little hazy.
Shen Que froze as the smoke Chen Zui exhaled wafted over his face.
Chen Zui had already leaned back and created distance. “Sorry, my health isn’t good, so I can’t smoke too much. This is the only way I can curb the craving.”
There was silence for a long moment.
Chen Zui: “Mr. Shen?”
Shen Que: “Huh? Oh—yeah—right, that’s how it is.”
He almost stuck the cigarette up his nose, then stood up from the desk, took a step forward, turned, and stopped. “Ah—you go out first. I’ll finish this cigarette, then get you acquainted with the crew.”
Chen Zui: “Okay.”
Alone, Shen Que quickly finished the cigarette. What was that feeling just now? So strange—it gave him the creeps.
But when Chen Zui leaned in, he seemed to catch a whiff of perfume.
Chen Zui waited outside, where a few curious onlookers sized him up. Some friendly types struck up a conversation, and Chen Zui replied with a calm demeanor.
After a while, Shen Que emerged from the office, looking normal again, and ordered, “Lao Lei, notify everyone to gather at the square.”
Lao Lei acknowledged and headed to the broadcast room. Soon, the loudspeaker outside blared: “Everyone, halt whatever you’re doing and gather at the square, gather at the square, right now, no delays.”
Shen Que turned to Chen Zui. “Doc Chen, let’s roll out too.”
Chen Zui followed by his side.
Ao Tian: "His current favorability level with you is 5%, that's actually pretty high."
Chen Zui felt this was a standard baseline for someone useful.
Before long, about two hundred people—men, women, young and old—had gathered in the square, gathered curiously. Shen Que brought Chen Zui to the center, facing them.
Lao Lei's voice came over the loudspeaker: "Everybody, quiet."
The once noisy square immediately fell silent. Chen Zui noted the scene—it seemed Shen Que was a leader with real clout.
Shen Que: "Got some good news to share today."
He took a step to the side, making space for Chen Zui front and center, and gestured toward him: "That is, West Town finally has a doctor. Let's give a big welcome to Chen Zui, Doctor Chen, for joining us."
Everyone turned to look at Chen Zui. They’d caught wind of it yesterday but didn't expect it to be true. Some were surprised that he was so young and already a doctor. With mixed feelings of doubt and anticipation, they applauded.
The applause thundered.
Ao Tian: "Rise, my beloved subjects~"
Shen Que raised his hand and motioned downward, and the applause stopped.
His expression turned serious: "From now on, Chen Zui is one of us, a member of our family, and even more, a treasure of West Town. If anyone dares to bully him or make him unhappy, you’ll have me to answer to."
"Everyone got that?" His voice rose, and with his imposing presence, everyone nodded like crazy.
Ao Tian: "You have a new name."
Chen Zui: "What?"
Ao Tian: "Chen Treasure~ Most Treasured? Most Most Treasured?"
It even waffled between which nickname was better.
Chen Zui: I can’t even.
Shen Que: "Alright, everyone, you can all head out."
After introducing Chen Zui to everyone, Shen Que took him to the medical room: "This is your space now."
"You can pick a few quick and sharp folks to assist you."
He then pointed upstairs: "Up there is your room."
Finally, he looked at Chen Zui, who had remained silent all along, and gave his shoulder a firm pat. Chen Zui lurched forward from the impact.
"From now on, this is your home. Brother Shen has your back."
Chen Zui lifted the corner of his mouth: "Thank you—Brother Shen."
Shen Que, in good spirits, patted his shoulder twice more: "Alright, get settled in. If you need anything, just ask."
Shen Que left.
Chen Zui went upstairs to the second floor. It was a decent-sized space, with a living room, bathroom, kitchen, and study.
Plenty of natural light, too.
Chen Zui didn’t have much to unpack.
At 7 p.m., Xiao Xu came to call him for dinner: "Doctor Chen, meals are at 8 AM, noon, and 7 PM."
"Okay, thank you."
"Doctor Chen, you don’t have to be so polite." The teen, not even twenty yet, beamed. "The boss said you’re West Town’s treasure."
Chen Zui: …
It wasn’t exactly group chow. Chen Zui was served his own portion with meat, vegetables, and a large bowl of rice. Clearly, the others weren’t eating as hearty.
Shen Que wasn’t there. Sitting across from him was Lao Lei, a guy with a bushy beard and an honest face.
"The boss is out with some folks."
"Doctor Chen, eat up. Let me know what you’d like, and I’ll have it made for you tomorrow."
Lao Lei ate veggie buns.
They usually ate better at lunch since supplies were limited, the harvest wasn’t in yet, and they needed to stock up for winter. Still, in this world, being well-fed was a win.
Chen Zui: "It’s fine. I’m not picky."
He never skimped on himself, and since he could actually provide medical care, he dug in without a second thought.
Lao Lei was a real talker. Over the meal, he ran through the whole backstory of their small town.
It turned out Shen Que was kind of a nepo baby—his mother was the previous leader, so he had essentially inherited the role.
Not long after returning to the medical room after dinner, someone knocked on the door.
It was a seven- or eight-year-old girl, holding an elderly woman’s hand. She looked at him timidly but worked up the nerve to speak: "Big brother, grandma’s hand hurts. They say seeing a doctor helps."
Chen Zui invited them to sit, grabbed some ointment and anti-inflammatories, and gave it to them.
"Thank you, big brother."
As they were leaving, Shen Que came in. He ruffled the girl’s hair and had someone accompanying him see the old lady and kid home.
"Doctor Chen, this is for you."
He handed Chen Zui a white plastic bag. Chen Zui took out two white coats from it.
"Thank you, Brother Shen."
"Hey, no need to be so polite with me. So, how are you settling in here?"
Shen Que leaned against Chen Zui’s consultation desk, arms crossed over his chest, his biceps noticeably solid.
Chen Zui put on one of the white coats: "It’s great. Everyone has been very kind to me."
He didn’t button the coat, making it look more like a trench coat on him.
"Your build is really something. How many girls would fall for you just seeing you out and about? Hahaha—"
Shen Que laughed twice, then turned serious: "But there’s one thing I have to remind you. You can’t take advantage of your looks to mess around with relationships. Even if you’re a doctor and can treat me, I won’t tolerate it."
"Don’t worry, Brother Shen. I don’t have that kind of habit."
"By the way, these are the medicines I prepared for you." Chen Zui took out a bag of medicine from the consultation desk drawer.
"The usage and dosage are indicated on it. You can try taking it first. Besides, I've also prepared an accompanying regimen for you. Since you have a naturally weak stomach, it might be..."
Chen Zui used a bunch of technical terms that Shen Que couldn't understand, making his head swim. After Chen Zui finished, Shen Que only asked one question: "So, what exactly does this accompanying regimen involve?"
This time, Chen Zui answered succinctly: "Simply put, it involves using massage-like techniques to stimulate your body, locate sensitive spots, and through stimulating these spots, get your downstairs working properly again. I imagine over the years, besides fighting, Brother Shen, you haven't had much intimate physical contact with others. You could give it a try—more attempts mean more hope."
This time, Shen Que understood a bit. He looked at Chen Zui and asked, "Then where should the massage be applied?"
What exactly are sensitive spots?
Shen Que felt rather foolish in front of Chen Zui, as if he knew nothing.
Chen Zui's gaze fell below his vest.
He pointed his index finger right at one spot: "Let's start here. Many men feel sensations in this area too."
