Chapter 30 Like a Child
byChapter 30 Like a Child
Xierlan was completely at a loss for how to react, rooted to the spot like a block of wood, gazing dazedly at Sexia as he caressed his own lips.
Eat.
How to eat?
Before Xierlan could react, Sexia gently stroked the side of his face, his long, warm fingers moving to his temples and sinking into his hair.
As he did this, Sexia’s eyes held an unreadable emotion—cool yet shimmering with a dizzying allure.
Sexia stroked his scalp, the movement of his fingers sending a distinct itchiness through Xierlan. He watched Sexia, who moved with relaxed slowness, his expression calm. His collar had loosened during the motion, revealing the cold, pale contours that rose and fell with his breath—languid and effortless, enchanting Xierlan into feeling like prey awaiting slaughter.
Sexia stroked the skin on his head, warm and soft, while his already parted legs opened a little wider.
“……Xierlan.”
Sexia tilted his head, and with that simple motion, it was as though their positions had reversed. His throat bobbed slowly from swallowing, his body gleaming with the distinct hue of something edible.
“Will you eat me?”
Xierlan fully understood Sexia’s meaning and kissed him.
Sexia turned his head away, as if overwhelmed, the human leaving a scorching, feverish sensation on him.
But his hands didn’t let go, his toes curled, and the hand behind Xierlan’s head tightened bit by bit.
Xierlan was pressed down.
Right there.
The motion happened so naturally that Xierlan hadn’t expected it at all—his nose brushed against it.
A patch of wetness.
Xierlan flushed red from head to toe in an instant.
He looked up just in time to see Sexia gazing down at him, his originally light glacier-blue eyes blurred by shadow into a gray-blue, carrying a profound, aloof intensity.
The other brushed aside his hair, his palm warm, so that even the gentlest, calmest movements felt like unbearable encouragement and provocation under such an expression.
In that moment, Xierlan’s desire for an early night completely vanished.
The female Zerg was covered in his scent, and by the latter half of the night, they were curled up together, unable to separate. There were still three hours until dawn—enough for a short nap—but Xierlan, looking at Sexia’s back beside him, found himself unable to sleep at all.
Looking back, he never would have guessed Sexia could enchant him like this.
Why why why!!!
How did he go from a cute kitten to a fox!
Xierlan tossed and turned, unable to figure it out, his ears red as he buried himself in the pillow, breathing in the faint, bitter scent of bamboo leaves.
Ahhhhhhh, even more impossible to sleep now!!!
Xierlan felt a flicker of annoyance, then gently turned over.
Sexia was already comfortably asleep, but sensing the human’s restlessness, he reached out in his slumber and pulled the fidgeting human into his arms.
Xierlan went completely still, feeling a clear source of heat against his back as Sexia drew closer, gradually pressing against the nape of his neck.
He lifted his fingers, gently stroking the exposed skin on Xierlan’s neck. “Primary male, can’t sleep?”
A very soft voice, as if spoken subconsciously, in a murmuring tone.
Xierlan nearly broke out in goosebumps, his entire body heating up, completely unable to calm down.
“Sleep, baby,” Xierlan whispered, somewhat shyly. “Did I disturb you?”
Their builds were similar, making it easy to hug, and there was a sense of intimacy, like puzzle pieces fitting perfectly together.
Xierlan loved being held like this.
Sexia grew tired easily from absorbing too much information and didn’t respond, merely lifting himself to kiss behind Xierlan’s ear.
“You didn’t disturb me.”
After kissing him, Sexia wrapped his arms around Xierlan’s waist, burying himself against his back like a small animal, his breathing steady as if already asleep.
Xierlan, who had been intensely shy, instantly settled down, lying still and obediently while inwardly raving about how adorable Sexia was.
No helping it—he’s just a cute kitty after all, how can he be this well-behaved!
Xierlan no longer felt like sleeping. With a sigh, he manipulated a biscuit to bring his glasses over, put them on, and studied through the night. He woke at six to cook, and by seven, everything was ready.
Xierlan had great physical stamina; even after staying up all night, he felt no drowsiness. After eating, he went off to perform his labor, arriving at his destination still full of energy.
Sexia pressed the car door button, and as he saw Xierlan off, the human wasn’t in a hurry to leave. Instead, he poked his own cheek, smiling with curved eyes. “Baby, give me a goodbye kiss.”
In the past, Sexia would have felt flustered and shy if the human initiated intimacy—unless he saw the human as a puppy.
Now, with Xierlan poking his cheek and asking for a kiss, he looked like a puppy wagging its tail joyfully, eyes moist and lively, utterly adorable when his tail wagged.
Faced with such a puppy-like Xierlan, Sexia couldn’t blush—he only felt tender and wanted to tease him.
He walked over, adjusted the crooked glasses, and the human blinked, earnestly leaning his cheek forward, waiting for Sexia’s kiss.
The latter remained unmoved, lowering his hand to tidy Xierlan’s slightly messy collar before slowly looking up, just in time to see Xierlan looking somewhat wronged from being neglected.
He was a little unhappy but still obediently leaned in. “Baby, kiss me, why won’t you kiss me?”
The corners of Sexia’s lips hinted at a smile. He pinched Xierlan’s chin and kissed him, pressing him against the wall for a deep kiss.
Xierlan’s eyes lit up, very naturally accepting the role of being forcefully kissed, even secretly blushing at the ears.
After kissing him, Sexia slowly pulled away, watching his eyes motionlessly, then pressed a kiss to Xierlan’s cheek.
“A kiss for Xierlan.”
Xierlan was left burning all over, as if completely overwhelmed, and ran off with red ears without saying a word.
Sexia watched his retreating figure, the curve of his lips deepening further. He seemed to have discovered something very interesting, his ears red as he slowly turned and leaned against the closed door.
Sexia raised his hand, pressing his fingers to his lips, his eyelashes trembling with clear amusement.
Another piece of evidence that Xierlan was a puppy.
Xierlan had no idea he’d been likened to a dog, and even if he knew, he’d wag his tail and go seek kisses from the female Zerg. After all, in his eyes, even if he were seen as a dog, he’d be a cherished one—and cherished dogs can do no wrong.
Xierlan walked into the classroom in a relaxed mood, only to find several male bugs had arrived even earlier, as if intentionally waiting for him.
They had all thoroughly read the female bug childcare guide after returning last night and learned that female bugs are a species more focused on reproduction than males, including the fact that female and male larvae receive entirely different educations—one strict and harsh, the other relaxed and indulgent.
Of course, what they read the most about were the physical pains and needs of female bugs during egg-carrying, and they also chatted with their primary consorts, all intending to get Xierlan's opinion on how their chats went.
But as soon as they saw Xierlan's appearance, the male bugs were taken aback. Miao Qie, curiosity getting the better of him, leaned in to look, "Are you nearsighted?"
Xierlan nodded seriously, "Yes, I woke up this morning with both eyes' vision improved by 300 degrees."
Haibi was so jealous seeing that he didn’t look bad even with glasses, "You look good with or without glasses. How come you, a male bug, actually are so good-looking? Do male bugs even need to be that good-looking?"
Xierlan raised an eyebrow, disagreeing strongly, "If male bugs are better-looking, primary consorts will appreciate it more. You wouldn’t want to be so ugly that you put your primary consort off, right? After all, it’s something to be proud of when a female bug is captivated by your looks."
Being good-looking is a talent, and even if you’re not, you can become good-looking—that’s also a talent.
Liposi stayed out of this topic; he could only be considered high-level among male bugs, but he was completely outclassed by Xierlan, making him average by comparison.
The other two male bugs didn’t seem to have much guile, appearing naive and somewhat foolish, especially Miao Qie—what’s the point of a male bug looking so young and pretty? And Haibi, a kind of dull cute creature.
Liposi averted his eyes exasperatedly. Miao Qie, after hearing this, shot back, very indignant, "Why should we make primary consorts captivated? Male bugs are usually unattractive. I should just be thankful I’m not bad-looking…"
Xierlan sighed, "What a pity that you’ll never see your primary consort blushing and flustered because of your careful grooming. Have you ever seen your primary consort look head over heels? You haven’t, right? I see it every day."
Sheer madness.
The three male bugs thought in unison, but upon hearing the latter part, they couldn’t help but reconsider. Miao Qie’s primary consort was naturally very stern, unsmiling, and stiff. He tried to imagine it but couldn’t picture Ximodo being shy at all.
His lips trembled, feeling somewhat intrigued, "Well… should I dress up a bit?"
Xierlan didn’t expect Miao Qie to be the first one tempted, but upon second thought, it wasn’t entirely surprising.
"Of course you can dress up if you want. Your clothing and behavior can match your style. Do you want to be a sweet male bug?"
Xierlan didn’t know why he had started becoming a male bug image consultant; it was all so weird.
Miao Qie fuming, about to retort why Xierlan’s primary consort came first, but then it occurred to him that he had never said he wanted to see Ximodo.
Darn it!! Waiting for him to say he wanted to meet—it must have been that guy Ximodo who made the first move to come find him!
As he was thinking, Xierlan had already leaned over and seen the message the other had sent.
Grumpy Face: I’m coming over
Grumpy Face: Ten minutes.
Haibi was fuming, staring intently at the comms device, unable to help shouting, "What’s his problem!!"
Xierlan saw the blush on his face, unrelated to anger, like a pitiful bug falling apart from not receiving emotional satisfaction from his primary consort, though this bug wasn’t entirely innocent either.
"Ten minutes," Xierlan said gravely. "Ten minutes to tidy up your appearance, clothing, and some manners."
Haibi was about to stubbornly refuse, but then he thought about how looking good could make his primary consort smitten and shy, and he really wanted to see the other’s reaction.
He quickly started adjusting himself in the reflection on the door. Haibi was quite good-looking, with a typical male bug build—blonde, petite, but very cute. Looking at his own face and Xierlan’s face that could rock any look, he grew fiercely angry.
Why does he have to look so good!!!
After adjusting himself, he asked stiffly, "Is this okay?"
Xierlan decided to help him out, "This is fine. But when you meet him this time, don’t just focus on his reaction. First, pay attention to your own reaction. You can act a bit more boyish. If you’re dissatisfied with his reaction, don’t get angry. Use your happiest, most satisfied smile to call him out. Go give it a try."
Haibi was about to ask if it would work when he saw the comms device alert that the other had already arrived.
He instantly grew nervous, trembling, "Since you guys have nothing to do anyway, accompany me from a distance, okay? Otherwise, I’ll be too nervous…"
Miao Qie almost went to follow him outright; with this invitation, he immediately nodded and agreed. Liposi also wanted to know and planned to go along.
Xierlan hadn’t planned to tag along, but after thinking about something, he still followed them.
Haibi’s primary consort was in the waiting area. Xierlan and the others kept their distance but could see clearly through the glass window.
Suo Lunluo was wearing a black overcoat, his light gray hair gleaming under the lights, his demeanor cold and meticulous. His features were straightforward, his originally handsome face appearing somewhat aloof. His cool-toned, fair skin made him look very frail and transparent, giving his face a uniquely melancholic quality.
Haibi had already reached the waiting area. He remembered Xierlan’s advice not to lose his temper and to smile genuinely. He hesitated at the door but quickly recalled how he had owned Miao Qie ten times in a game and genuinely laughed.
So, in Suo Lunluo’s eyes, the male bug before him popped his head in from the doorway,对着 him开心地笑的模样.
"You really came?"
Suo Lunluo found it strange. Seeing the sincere smile on Haibi’s face, he stiffly replied, "Hmph," sounding indifferent, "Didn’t you say you wanted to see me?"
Haibi got angry—why wasn’t this going as he imagined!
But he remembered to keep smiling and didn’t get angry with Suo Lunluo. Instead, he started to complain, suddenly acting all hurt, "If I don’t say I want to see you, can’t you say you want to see me?! Who likes someone who’s always stone-faced? I say I want to see you, and you ask what’s wrong—can’t you just come over?!!"
After saying this, Haibi genuinely felt wronged. He pouted but then remembered something and smiled again, though it quickly faded, "Forget it, I won’t argue with you."
Suo Lunluo didn’t know Haibi very well, only thinking he was difficult to please and quick to anger, but this was a side he had never seen before.
He sighed helplessly, "I work at the research institute. You know I’m very busy."
As he spoke, Suo Lunluo raised his hand to rub his temple, as if at a loss with the male bug, "I just finished a lecture today and came to find you right after."
Haibi was satisfied, a smile spreading across his face, "That’s more like it."
Suo Lunluo lowered his hand, looking calmly at the male bug before him, his tone slow, "Haibi, you called me here to say you want an insect egg, right?"
Haibi was stunned, thought of something, and shook his head frantically, "No, I said I’m afraid I’d overwhelm you. It’s so terrifying—why would you still want to lay eggs? Is it just for the pheromones?"
He had been scared to death reading about it in the book.
But Suo Lunluo smiled, seeming utterly helpless. Haibi had never seen him smile before and was momentarily dazzled, staring at him in a daze.
Suo Lunluo sighed; his primary male was like a child.
"Haibi," Suo Lunluo said calmly, "Reproduction is a basic responsibility, and I have the ability to do it. If you want to have eggs, I can take you home today."
"You can judge whether I can bear them or not."
