Chapter 2 Protect Him, Be Good to Him

Chapter 2: Protect Him, Be Kind to Him

"Host, don't slack off. Completing tasks has rewards."

Su Zheng: "What rewards?"

"We have three options for the host to choose from."

"1. After the host completes the task, let the host go back to the moment of their death in their own world, dodge death, and continue their original life."

"2. While the host is on the mission, change the original character's fate, choose to live in this world as the original character, and the system can give the host something from their own world as a cheat item. Like your speed and strength powers from the apocalypse."

"3. After the host completes the task, let the host pick a new identity to be reborn as in this world or another small world."

Su Zheng understood. He didn't want to go back to the apocalypse and fight zombies guerrilla-style just to survive. The best option was to change the original character's fate.

Su Zheng: "Tell me about the mission."

"The task is to protect the male lead, get rid of his darkening value, and get him back to his original world line."

Su Zheng was baffled: "If I'm not mistaken, you want me, a nobody, to protect and save the male lead? And what does 'back to his original world line' mean? What path is the male lead on right now?"

"Right now, the male lead is just a poor little guy."

Su Zheng: "What a coincidence, I'm a poor little guy too."

"Host, let me explain. In the normal world line, the male lead is a hostage at the palace, secretly builds up his own power, takes the throne, and establishes a new dynasty."

"But a glitch happened in the original world. Fifth Prince Su Cheng was reborn unexpectedly, saw the male lead as his biggest rival, secretly destroyed the male lead's forces, cut off his support, and the male lead barely made it out alive, returning heavily injured to Beiyuan."

"Right when he got back to Beiyuan, his father drugged him and broke his legs, stripped him of his heir title, and tied him up to send back to the capital for the Fifth Prince to deal with. The male lead eventually got away but could only survive on the run."

"Without the male lead's influence in the court, the Fifth Prince and the Shen faction were fighting for power, but the Fifth Prince was ultimately not as capable as the male lead, and conflicts continued."

"The court and the common people were in chaos, the people were destitute, foreign enemies took advantage to invade, and the land became a living hell."

"The male lead watched helplessly as the Dayin dynasty slowly fell apart, powerless to act, his hatred maxed out, and he completely darkened."

"After the male lead darkened, the small world began to destabilize, crack, and face destruction."

"The World Station sensed the crisis and temporarily used world energy to extract a virtual parallel world. As long as the male lead in the parallel world feels the warmth of this world, eliminates the darkening value, and returns to the original world line, it can merge with the soon-to-be-broken original world, allowing it to self-repair and restore its original state."

Su Zheng slowly sorted through the cause and effect.

To sum it up.

He needed to take good care of the male lead while he was still a poor little guy, protect him, and be kind to him.

At the same time, avoid him being ambushed, and help him successfully take the throne and become emperor.

Su Zheng: "Tell me about the male lead's situation."

"The male lead's ancestors were granted the northern grassland region as their fief, inheriting the title of Prince of Beiyuan for generations."

"The male lead's grandfather once crushed the enemy nation with thunderous force, sending them fleeing back to their homeland, earning great fame."

"His achievements overshadowed the ruler, which caused the mediocre and inactive Emperor Yuanjing to develop a rift with Beiyuan."

"The original, Luo Yunchen, is the current heir of Beiyuan. He was intelligent and strong-willed from a young age, showing early signs of his grandfather's former brilliance. Emperor Yuanjing called him to the palace under the excuse of being the crown prince's study buddy, but in reality, he was brought in as a hostage."
