Chapter 11: Don’t Move, It’ll Be Done in a Sec

Su Zheng was a bit dumbfounded. Why did Luo Yunchen seem all pitiful and aggrieved right now?

    Su Zheng closed his eyes.

Must be my imagination, my imagination.

It’s gotta be a side effect of sleeping too good last night.

Opening his eyes again, Su Zheng pulled himself together, his voice more level: "Didn't I tell you not to be moving around till your injury heals?"

This time, Luo Yunchen turned his head away, avoiding his gaze, his voice low, the tips of his ears turning red: "I, I had to go to the bathroom."

Su Zheng was caught off guard, blurting out: "Go to the bathroom?"

"I drank a ton of that medicinal broth yesterday, and I couldn't hold it in last night, so I got out of bed and went to the outhouse."

Su Zheng got it and was at a loss for words for a second.

He'd never actually taken care of or waited on anyone before, so of course he couldn't think of everything.

Plus, in the apocalypse, people either ate less or their bodies had changed somehow.

Their metabolism was slow, and over time, folks surviving in the apocalypse had kinda forgotten about stuff like that.

And weirdly enough, yesterday he felt just like he did in the apocalypse, so he hadn't thought of it.

Su Zheng asked the system, "Hey, system, why didn't I have to pee yesterday?"

"Host, your body's functions are controlled by your brain. Now that the consciousness in this body is yours, naturally, this body is under your control too, and it's not really the original owner's body anymore. So if you keep living like you used to, no problem. If you later decide to stay in this world, your powers will be unlocked, and you can use them just as freely as in the apocalypse, no physical issues."

Su Zheng: "Got it. That's pretty handy."

"Making things convenient for the host is part of our system's daily grind."

Su Zheng: "So, is the male lead lying? Did he really sneak out of bed 'cause he couldn't hold it?"

"He's not exactly lying. He did go to the outhouse, but he also stood by your bed and wrote a little note."

Su Zheng didn't care about the note; he figured the male lead was giving orders to his men.

But he'd have to find a chance to give the male lead a heads-up.

Su Zheng fastened Luo Yunchen's clothes and warned: "Heir Luo, you can't strain yourself until the scab forms on your wound. Got it? You can tell me anything, and if I'm not around, you can tell Guard Xu."

Seeing Luo Yunchen nod, expressionless but looking obedient, Su Zheng was a bit shocked.

So it wasn't his imagination. After one night's sleep, the male lead had changed his game?

From cold sarcasm to meek obedience?

Had he realized Su Zheng meant him no harm and decided to go along with it, using him to recover while openly getting in touch with Xu Mo?

Su Zheng figured this was fine. Being obedient was way easier than dealing with a rebel.

And he didn't mind being used one bit. As long as it didn't cost him his life or his meals, he was happy to play along however they wanted.

With that thought, Su Zheng quickly brushed it off.

He patted Luo Yunchen on the shoulder and gave him a smile: "I'll have Guard Xu call the imperial doctor to re-bandage your wound."

Sure enough, Luo Yunchen gave a meek nod.

After telling Xu Mo to call the doctor, Su Zheng walked back, rinsed a fresh towel in hot water, wrung it out, and brought it to the bedside.

The hot towel pressed against Luo Yunchen's face, and he sucked in a breath, almost losing his cool.

Su Zheng wiped the towel over Luo Yunchen's face, not too hard, thinking he was doing a great job.

After wiping Luo Yunchen's face clean, not missing a single spot, Su Zheng stood up, satisfied, rinsed the towel again, and came back to wipe Luo Yunchen's hands.

Su Zheng picked up Luo Yunchen's left hand, which was resting by the bed.

Maybe it was because Luo Yunchen was hurt and feeling unwell, but even after sleeping under a warm blanket in a heated room all night, his hand was still cold.

Luo Yunchen's fingers curled a little, like he wanted to pull his hand back.

Su Zheng held it tight: "Don't move, I'll wipe it for you. It'll just take a sec."

Luo Yunchen's palm wasn't small, bigger than his own, with long fingers and distinct knuckles, seemingly full of strength.

It should have been a beautiful hand, but this one wasn't.

Perhaps due to the cold, the finger joints were slightly swollen, the back of the hand was dark, with a few old scars, and calluses on the fingertips.

It was a hand full of life's wear.

Su Zheng gentled his movements, wiped it clean, tucked it back into the blanket, and asked for the other hand: "Give me the other one."

Luo Yunchen paused briefly, then slowly extended it. Su Zheng took it, held it, and wiped it carefully.

Then he brought a cup for Luo Yunchen to rinse his mouth.

Luo Yunchen watched Su Zheng, who was earnestly holding the cup and offering water. This person's disguise was too perfect; no matter how he observed, he couldn't see a trace of disgust or aversion.

A flicker of unusual emotion passed through Luo Yunchen's eyes, vanishing in an instant.

After Luo Yunchen finished rinsing, Su Zheng turned with the cup. He hadn't taken two steps when a low, trembling voice came from behind.

The voice was so low that Su Zheng didn't catch it at first. He turned to look at Luo Yunchen and asked: "What?"

Luo Yunchen lowered his head, his eyes downcast, his hands clenched under the blanket. After a moment, he raised his eyes, staring straight at Su Zheng, his voice still low: "Doesn't the Crown Prince feel degraded serving me? Don't you find me dirty and disgusting?"

Su Zheng heard him this time and asked, puzzled: "Dirty? Haven't I wiped you clean? Is there a spot I missed?"

Seeing Luo Yunchen just staring at him without speaking, Su Zheng thought of something else and said: "Are you saying you're dirty and want to bathe?"

Not bathing for a few days was no big deal; it wasn't enough to feel disgusted.

Maybe noblemen had some degree of cleanliness obsession?

Su Zheng advised: "Didn't I say your wound can't get wet for a few days? Can you hold on a bit?"

Seeing Luo Yunchen still unresponsive, Su Zheng thought for a moment and said: "How about this? I'll wipe your body with a damp towel, avoiding your injured area. Would that make you more comfortable?"

Finally, Luo Yunchen's eyes moved. Su Zheng nodded: "Alright, I'll have them bring more hot water."

Luo Yunchen's breath hitched, and he exhaled, saying: "No need."

Su Zheng was skeptical and confirmed, "Are you sure you don't need me to wipe you down? Can you still handle it?"

"I can handle it. No need to wipe."

"Alright then." No wiping, less work for me.

Setting down the cup, Su Zheng lowered the gauze curtain to cover the bed before allowing anyone to come in and clear the items.

When Xu Mo entered with the imperial physician, Su Zheng still kept Luo Yunchen's chest and face concealed, ensuring Luo Yunchen wasn't overly exposed in front of the doctor.

After the physician changed Luo Yunchen's medicine and bandaged him, Su Zheng asked him to leave some high-quality frostbite ointment and wound medicine, then sent him off to write a prescription and fetch the herbs.

When breakfast arrived, what was served to Luo Yunchen was still a herbal meal.
