Chapter 52: This Person Belongs to Him

    Su Zheng: "..."

Su Zheng: "System, you're still kicking?"

    "..."

"Host, let me explain—no, let me plead my case!"

    Su Zheng: "Speak."

"Host, you called me last night, right? And I didn't answer?"

"Host, I didn't mean to ignore you! When the system detects scenes that cannot be viewed without payment, it automatically goes into blackout mode for 12 hours, cutting off communication with the host. During this time, unless the host faces a life-threatening situation, the system forcibly reconnects. If after 12 hours, the scene is still unviewable, the system enters another 12-hour blackout. So when the host was dragged away by the male lead, I was locked in the little black room!"

Su Zheng: "...What the hell, 'dragged away'?!"

The system carefully watched the host and deduced, "Are you angry? You're not the type to get upset just because you can't reach me. Could it be that you're angry at the male lead for dragging you away?"

One corner of Su Zheng's mouth lifted in a smirk as he snorted coldly, "What's there to be angry about? In my past life, I brushed with death countless times, and I've truly died once. Is there anything I can't accept?

So what if I got used?

In the apocalypse, how many men and women sold themselves for a bite to eat? And who knows what kind of scum they sold themselves to?

Luo Yunchen's physique and looks—even if you searched through two lifetimes, you couldn't find anyone better. And he's so good in bed—other people pay good money and can't even get a taste of him!

Besides, this body isn't mine—I'm the one getting to eat and have fun!

At worst, after completing the mission, I can switch identities!

What do I have to be angry about?"

"If you didn't protest so much, I might have believed you."

Su Zheng: "Believe what you want. I was just thinking about some old memories, that's all."

    "Can I ask what happened?"

Su Zheng hesitated, then said flatly, "Nothing much. About two years into the apocalypse, a sleazy guy tried to assault me, and I killed him. It was my first kill. I can't remember what was going through my mind then, only that I was so disgusted I didn't eat, drink, or even get up for three days, and I almost starved to death."

The system paused for a moment, then asked, "Want a cigarette after all that?"

Su Zheng set down his teacup, intrigued. "System, you can provide that?"

"Well, not exactly. I'm not a dimension-trading system; I don't have a store function. But I do have a private stash—my own personal collection accumulated over time."

Su Zheng: "You have cigarettes? Can you even smoke? Aren't you afraid of catching fire?"

"Who said collected things have to be used? Do you want one or not?"

    Su Zheng didn't hesitate: "Yes!"

The next second, a cigarette appeared in Su Zheng's hand.

Su Zheng only learned to smoke a few years into the apocalypse. By then, tobacco was a luxury item, and a single cigarette was expensive. Su Zheng had barely smoked a handful in total. Now, being able to smoke even one cigarette was quite satisfying.

He held the cigarette between two fingers, put it to his lips, and lit it from the candle flame.

Su Zheng took a long drag, the bitter taste of nicotine spreading across his tongue.

He slowly exhaled the smoke, leaving a faint aftertaste of bitterness that gradually turned sweet.

Su Zheng smoked the cigarette very slowly. By the time he finished, Luo Yunchen had entered carrying a bowl of meat congee.

Luo Yunchen set the congee on the table and started to explain when he caught an odor that didn't belong in the palace.

Frowning, Luo Yunchen asked, "What's that smell?"

He glanced suspiciously around the room, his gaze landing on Su Zheng sitting there.

Luo Yunchen approached, sat next to Su Zheng, and leaned in to sniff. "A Zheng, what's that smell? You—cough! cough!"

Before he could finish, Su Zheng blew the last puff of smoke from his mouth straight into Luo Yunchen's face.

The smoke swirled for a moment and then dissipated. Luo Yunchen rubbed his nose and coughed for a good while before recovering.

Su Zheng smirked, a mocking smile curving his lips. "How was that, Chen Di? Exciting? Comfortable?"

After his coughing fit, Luo Yunchen privately guessed this might be one of Su Zheng's little paranormal tricks.

So far, aside from the strange and irritating smell, it didn't seem to cause any other discomfort.

Luo Yunchen saw Su Zheng's triumphant smile from having pulled one over on him, and his own mood lifted. "Thrilling. How could anything from A Zheng not be thrilling and comfortable?"

With that, he leaned over and wrapped an arm around Su Zheng's waist, pulling him into his embrace and settling him on his lap.

Su Zheng tried to get up but was held down. Annoyed, he said, "What are you doing now?"

"Nothing. The stool is hard. Sit here on my lap—it's soft and more comfortable."

Su Zheng eyed him. "You sure that's soft?"

Luo Yunchen chuckled softly, tilting his head to look at Su Zheng, asking, "Then does A Zheng want it hard or soft?"

"I want you to get lost."

"Fine. After we eat, we'll roll!"

    Su Zheng: "..."

Su Zheng fell silent and studied the congee on the table.

Luo Yunchen picked it up and explained, "I've already prepared the lamb, but it'll be a while before it's roasted. A Zheng should have some congee first to tide you over, alright?"

Su Zheng nodded, having no objection.

Luo Yunchen lifted the bowl as if to feed him.

Su Zheng insisted on eating himself. "I'll do it. Too slow."

Luo Yunchen had no choice but to give the bowl to Su Zheng, while his free hand roamed, caressing Su Zheng's waist as if unwilling to let go.

Xu Mo brought in the roasted lamb, keeping his head low, only entering after Luo Yunchen gave permission.

Xu Mo kept his head as low as possible, as if staring at his own feet, carefully carrying the tray as he entered.

Su Zheng glanced at Xu Mo and couldn't help but say, "Guard Xu, I advise you to watch your step. If you spill my food, the consequences will be worse than knowing too much."

Xu Mo's heart tightened as he quickly scanned the path ahead. Keeping his head low and eyes straight, he placed the tray on the table swiftly and accurately.

Seeing his desired food set down safely before him, Su Zheng's mood improved. He looked at Luo Yunchen: "Do all your men know?"

Luo Yunchen tilted his head and thought for a moment before replying, "I had Guard Xu stand guard outside the hall last night. He called for water several times during the night. He probably guessed. Being too smart is also a burden. A Zheng, do you want to silence him?"

Xu Mo broke out in a cold sweat and promptly knelt to plead for mercy. If he could, he would have rather left his brain at home last night!

Su Zheng said calmly, "It's the truth anyway. What's the point of pretending otherwise? Besides, since he's your man, as long as he doesn't betray you, it's fine if he knows. Your people won't gossip."

Before Luo Yunchen could respond, Xu Mo kowtowed and swore he would never betray or speak out of turn.

Luo Yunchen dismissed Xu Mo, thinking that one day he would make not just his men, but the entire world, know that this person belonged to him.

The meat porridge from earlier was barely enough to fill his stomach, and Su Zheng was indeed very hungry now.

As soon as Xu Mo left, Su Zheng immediately began to eat heartily.
