Chapter 14: Ask Me, and I’ll Feed You

Clearly, Luo Yunchen didn’t pick up on Su Zheng’s body language, his grip didn’t loosen at all.

Su Zheng had no choice but to lean down a little more and said to Luo Yunchen, "Heir Luo, you can let go now. Don’t worry, I can get up on my own, I won’t crush you again."

As Su Zheng moved away and then closer again, his loose hair brushed over and covered Luo Yunchen’s Adam’s apple again. Luo Yunchen felt the itch on his neck deepen, but it weirdly felt good.

His moist, thin lips parted and closed, a soft pink tongue flickering in and out, drawing Luo Yunchen’s gaze, making his eyes linger on them without control.

His eyes gradually darkened, and Luo Yunchen licked his lips.

His lips felt dry, and he was getting thirsty. He really wanted some juicy fruit to soothe his dry throat.

Su Zheng, totally unaware of Luo Yunchen’s change, saw Luo Yunchen still had his hand on him, like he hadn’t heard a word. He had to pat Luo Yunchen’s shoulder and ask, "Heir Luo? What are you thinking? Did you hear what I said?"

Luo Yunchen snapped out of it, glanced again at those moist red lips, and replied, "I was wondering if Your Highness is feeling better? Can you stand up?"

"Don’t worry, I’m fine. I just fell because I wasn’t ready; it won’t happen again."

"Good, then be careful, Your Highness."

Feeling Luo Yunchen’s hand slowly pull away from his waist.

Su Zheng didn’t waste time, pushing himself up with his hands and using his core to stand.

His legs were still a little numb, but he could manage.

The slight tingling was something Su Zheng could easily handle, so he walked without showing any discomfort.

As soon as he sat back down on the daybed, he heard Luo Yunchen say, "Your Highness, can I ask for anything I need?"

Su Zheng quickly nodded: "Of course, as long as I can do it, just say the word."

    "I’m a bit thirsty."

    Su Zheng: "..."

He said it so seriously; Su Zheng thought it was something big!

"Then hang on, I’ll get you a glass of water."

Luo Yunchen shook his head: "Drinking water is a hassle, and I don’t want to."

Su Zheng was confused: "Then what do you want?"

Luo Yunchen looked at the little table on Su Zheng’s daybed and said, "Could Your Highness give me a piece of fruit?"

Su Zheng followed his gaze to his own side, where plates of fruit, pastries, and candied fruit covered the table.

He then glanced at Luo Yunchen’s side, which was nothing but books.

Su Zheng rubbed his forehead—this was his fault!

Hadn’t he promised to treat the male lead well, feed him good food, and fatten him up?

Instead, he only thought about his own enjoyment and forgot all about the male lead!

Ever since entering the palace, Luo Yunchen’s meals and treatment had gotten much worse.

He must have gone a long time without fruit or pastries, so of course he was craving them!

Thinking this, Su Zheng quickly brought a plate of cherries over to Luo Yunchen and said, "Of course, you can eat as many as you want."

He paused, then added: "But don’t eat too many; it’s bad for you."

Luo Yunchen looked at the plate of plump, bright red fruit, which seemed to be exactly what he was craving. The corners of his mouth lifted, and he smiled: "Thank you, Your Highness."

"Don’t be so formal. Grab a few—actually, wait. Let me get you a stool to put this on. I’ll leave the fruit here, and you can eat slowly."

But Luo Yunchen didn’t take it. He lowered his eyes, his smile fading into a look of deep sadness: "No need, Your Highness. One of my hands is hurt and hard to use. If I take the fruit with my other hand, I’ll have to touch my books later, and they’ll get dirty. That won’t do. I’ll just tough it out and skip eating."

    Su Zheng: "..."

You really don’t have to act so pitiful, seriously!

Su Zheng thought for a moment and asked cautiously, "How about I feed you?"

"In that case, I’ll have to trouble Your Highness."

    Su Zheng: "..."

You’re being a bit too bold.

But Su Zheng didn’t mind. He picked up a cherry by the stem and carefully fed it to Luo Yunchen.

Once the fruit was in Luo Yunchen’s mouth, Su Zheng gently pulled out the stem.

Su Zheng asked hopefully, "Is it good?"

Luo Yunchen chewed subtly, almost imperceptibly, and nodded: "Very good."

Su Zheng smiled, picked another cherry, and popped it into his own mouth, quickly spitting the pit into his palm.

He then held his palm out to Luo Yunchen’s lips and said, "Spit out the pit."

Luo Yunchen looked at the pale, cool hand before him, with a small red pit lying quietly in the center. The contrast of red and white made the palm look even more delicate.

Luo Yunchen lowered his head and gently spat out the pit. The two pits collided without making a sound.

Out of the corner of his eye, he watched Su Zheng.

Su Zheng’s expression remained cheerful, his eyes filled with a faint, contented smile, showing no change in mood.

He casually glanced around, then swiftly moved a stool over.

He placed an empty plate on the stool, tossed the pits in, and wiped his hand lightly with a handkerchief.

Then he quickly picked up a second cherry and fed it to Luo Yunchen, before having another himself.

Perhaps Su Zheng thought Luo Yunchen ate slowly, so soon his feeding rhythm shifted from one each to one for Luo Yunchen and two for himself, and finally to one for Luo Yunchen and three for himself.

The plate of cherries wasn’t large, and before long, the two had finished it.

Su Zheng looked at the empty plate and asked Luo Yunchen, "That’s all. Should I get you something else to eat? Don’t just have fruit; there are pastries too."

Learning from his mistake, Su Zheng made an effort to break his habit of eating alone and brought over a plate of lotus seed cake to feed Luo Yunchen.

Luo Yunchen didn’t refuse and took a small bite from Su Zheng’s hand.

"How is it? Soft? Sweet? Good?"

Luo Yunchen didn't speak, just gave a slight nod.

Su Zheng smiled with satisfaction and said, "When you're done, let me know, and I'll feed you more."

With that, he stuffed the remaining piece of foxnut cake that Luo Yunchen had left into his own mouth—he couldn't stand having food in his hand without eating it.

Luo Yunchen's eyes shifted as he watched Su Zheng's moving lips and slightly puffed cheeks, but he said nothing.

The two of them quickly finished the foxnut cake, and Su Zheng was about to go get more food.

Luo Yunchen finally couldn't help but ask, "Your Highness, aren't you tired after standing for so long?"

Su Zheng shook his head. "Nah, I'm not tired. I haven't been standing that long. Do you want more fruit, pastries, or maybe some candied fruit?"

"Your Highness, please help yourself. There's no need to keep feeding me, or I won't be able to eat lunch and take my medicine later."

Su Zheng thought about it and realized Luo Yunchen's appetite couldn't compare to his own, and it wasn't good for him to eat too much now. So he agreed, "Alright, after lunch, if you want anything else, just let me know."

    "Thank you, Your Highness."
