Chapter 66: Our Relationship Isn't So Good Right Now

Wu Xiulan couldn't bear to leave her son and go to the hotel. Chen Wang and Gu Sai had to talk her into it, going back and forth, promising she could come back first thing in the morning, before she finally agreed.

Chen Wang walked Wu Xiulan downstairs, where his driver was already waiting at the entrance.

"Auntie, don't worry. I'll stay with Gu Sai tonight—I've got him covered."

Wu Xiulan said gratefully, "Xiao Chen, I really can't thank you enough. Gu Sai's lucky to have a friend like you. I can head back to Ancheng with peace of mind knowing he's got you."

Chen Wang maintained a polite smile on the surface, but inwardly he thought: *Friend? Ha. Since when do friends hook up? Auntie, your son is gay—stop trying to set him up with some girl.*

Back in the room, Chen Wang eyed the visitor's bed two meters from Gu Sai's and was not happy about it.

Without a word, he rolled up his sleeves, shoved the little cabinet aside, and pushed the beds together.

Gu Sai asked, confused, "What are you doing?"

Chen Wang said, "I'm sleeping right next to you."

Gu Sai's face went red instantly: "In the hospital... that's not okay. Nurses are always coming in. What if someone sees... and the walls are paper-thin..."

Chen Wang gave him a look like he was an idiot: "I just said I'm sleeping next to you. I didn't say anything else. Where's your head at?"

Gu Sai shut up and lay down obediently.

Chen Wang kept his clothes on, lay down with his head on his arm, and after a moment, slid his other hand under Gu Sai's covers.

    "What're you doing?"

    "Nothin'. Just feelin' around."

Gu Sai's hands and arms were wrapped in bandages, so Chen Wang skipped those and went for his waist, ass, and thighs. Gu Sai got ticklish and tried to squirm away, but Chen Wang pulled him, blanket and all, into his arms.

"I'm just feelin' you up, that's all. You're wrapped up like a mummy, so I can't get in the mood for anything more anyway."

    Gu Sai: "Oh."

Chen Wang buried his face in Gu Sai's neck and took a deep breath: "You smell like roast rabbit."

    Gu Sai: Huh???

    "Why?"

"Because this little bunny got roasted over a fire." Chen Wang pinched his nose.

Gu Sai protested, "I'm not a bunny."

Chen Wang nodded: "Right, you're a little fox."

"Hey!" Gu Sai said, all serious. "You're objectifying me."

Chen Wang couldn't help laughing: "How am I objectifying you?"

"Turning me into an animal is still objectification."

"It's not objectification—it's helping you get into character early." Chen Wang said.

Gu Sai looked at him, confused. Chen Wang leaned in, kissed him twice on the lips, and said, "Remember Director Liu said he'd give you a big role? I got the script. You're playing the third male lead—a little fox spirit who's head over heels for me."

*Fits your real-life persona perfectly—loving me on and off screen.*

    "Third male lead?"

Gu Sai's eyes lit up. In all his years since debuting, he'd never landed a role this big. And it was Director Liu's film—hell, even a tenth lead in one of his movies would've been an honor.

"Teacher Chen, thank you so much. I'll heal up fast and make sure I'm ready to start filming."

Chen Wang lifted his blanket and crawled in, annoyed: "Still calling me Teacher Chen. You know, sometimes your politeness drives me crazy."

Gu Sai was at a loss for words.

Chen Wang wrapped an arm around his slim waist, sharing his pillow, and said lazily, eyes closed, "I'm heading back to Beicheng tomorrow."

    "Mm."

"The doctor said you can be discharged after one more bandage change in a couple of days. I'm leaving my car and driver for you. Have him handle the discharge paperwork and drive you and your aunt back to Beicheng."

    "Okay, thanks."

Chen Wang opened one eye: "Thank who?"

    "You."

    "Who am I?"

    Gu Sai: ...

*This guy's so childish, asking questions he already knows the answers to.* He suddenly didn't want to play along and answer this ridiculous question. He pursed his lips and muttered, "You're Wangcai."

    Chen Wang: ???

He propped himself up on one elbow, looking at Gu Sai with a mix of surprise and delight. Gu Sai, meanwhile, was fighting back a smile, looking exactly like a mischievous little fox waiting to be punished after causing trouble.

Chen Wang curled his lips into a grin: "Wangcai, huh? Fine, I'll make you say Wangcai!"

He suddenly went in with both hands, tickling Gu Sai everywhere. Gu Sai waved his bandaged hands around, begging for mercy: "Ahh, I was wrong, I won't do it again! I'm Wangcai, I'm Wangcai!"

Chen Wang, mindful of his injuries, stopped the punishment, afraid of hurting him.

He stared into Gu Sai's eyes: "Now say it again. Who am I?"

Gu Sai answered honestly, "Chen... Chen Wang."

This was the first time he'd called Chen Wang by his name to his face. Weird—it was just a name, so why did it feel so embarrassing?

When Chen Wang heard his own name come out of Gu Sai's mouth, his scalp tingled.

*Damn. Why does just hearing Gu Sai say my name get me this worked up? If he actually called me 'husband,' I'd probably hand over my whole heart and soul.*

    *What a bewitching little demon!*

As if to hide his fluster—or maybe just driven by desire—he suddenly dipped his head and kissed Gu Sai, sucking on his lips hungrily.

The moment Chen Wang's lips met his, Gu Sai instinctively shrank back. His bandaged hands pressed against Chen Wang's chest, but with no real force.

Chen Wang's breathing turned heavy. He caught Gu Sai's soft lower lip between his teeth and gave it a gentle bite. The moment Gu Sai gasped, his tongue pushed in.

The kiss turned fierce in an instant.

Gu Sai was kissed until he couldn't breathe, his head spinning. Chen Wang's hand had somehow already slipped under the hem of his hospital gown, his palm scorching hot, slowly stroking the delicate skin at his waist.

Gu Sai couldn't help but tilt his head back, trying to escape, but Chen Wang's other hand, cushioned behind his head, stopped him, pulling him deeper into the kiss instead.

"Chen Wang..." Gu Sai said, barely able to endure, "No, this is... a hospital."

Chen Wang finally stopped, and for a moment, only the sound of two people breathing heavily filled the room.

Chen Wang gently kissed Gu Sai's neck, which had flushed pink with shyness: "Call me again."

    Gu Sai: "Chen Wang..."

"Damn." Chen Wang cursed under his breath, abruptly rolling off the bed, and dashed into the bathroom, tent pitched.

Soon, the sound of a shower came from the private bathroom in the ward.

The butt sighed wistfully: "So close, I almost got to hug my boyfriend. Sigh, this must be the burden of having an original owner. My boyfriend and I are about to start a long-distance relationship again."

Gu Sai: "I'm covered in injuries right now. Are you trying to kill me faster?"

Chen Wang came out after a cold shower, wrapped in a towel. This time, he didn't crawl into Gu Sai's bed but obediently lay down on the family bed to avoid getting worked up again.

Gu Sai thought he could finally sleep peacefully, but a moment later, Chen Wang suddenly stared at the ceiling and asked, "Gu Sai, don't you think our relationship right now... is a bit off?"

    Gu Sai: "Huh?"

Chen Wang: "I mean... I think it's time we made some changes, don't you?"

Say yes, say you want to date me, want a normal relationship, want me to go public and give you a proper title! Say it, say it, say it!!!

Gu Sai was stunned for a long moment. "Oh."

    Chen Wang: ???

"Oh? What the hell does 'oh' mean? What's that supposed to mean?" He glared at Gu Sai with dissatisfaction.

Gu Sai: "It's just... I told you, if you want to break it off, just tell me anytime. I won't cling to you."

Honestly, at that moment, Chen Wang wanted to strangle him to death.

Break it off my ass! Who the hell wants to break up? I'm trying to guide you forward, and you're backing out on me. Were you born with a rebellious streak?

Gu Sai really had no idea what he said wrong. Why did Chen Wang suddenly get so angry? His eyes were bulging like a bull's, so scary.

Chen Wang's chest heaved up and down, he let out a heavy snort, turned his back, and said nothing more.
