Chapter 28 The Teasing Yandere Boy 28
byChapter 28: The Teasing, Obsessive Boy 28
Before the semester started, Chen Ming organized another gathering.
This time he didn't even bother coming up with a pretext—he just called Qiao Ling out for drinks.
These past few days, Jiang Ran had been sticking with Qiao Ling, so when he heard this kind of news, there was no way he'd let Qiao Ling go alone. After all, he knew exactly how bad Qiao Ling's tolerance was.
By the time they got to the VIP room, quite a few people were already there. Although Jiang Ran didn't yet know whose families they belonged to, he could tell these were familiar faces—people who were clearly on good terms with Chen Ming and Qiao Ling.
Moreover, this gathering didn't include Young Master Li, and the vibe was noticeably better without him.
As they sat around drinking together, Chen Ming looked at Qiao Ling and said with a smile, "Nothing much, really. Your brother's been busy these past couple days, so he asked me to check if you're still breathing."
Qiao Huai wasn't buying it either. Although Jiang Ran's line about "taking the young master out to clear his head" sounded all responsible and proper, Jiang Ran was still too dangerous for Qiao Huai to fully relax about.
Qiao Ling gave Chen Ming a surprised look, thinking to himself, *You can sense when my life's in danger—that's what real bros do!*
Jiang Ran watched the look they exchanged, slipped his hand under Qiao Ling's clothes and pinched his waist, then asked Chen Ming, "What, you think I'd actually off him? What kind of person do you take me for?"
Chen Ming could see Jiang Ran was way more relaxed hanging out with them this time than the previous two. He even had it in him to crack a joke, so Chen Ming just smiled.
"Yeah, it's just his brother being paranoid."
Everyone present saw how things were between Jiang Ran and Qiao Ling and kept their mouths shut.
The first time they'd met, Qiao Ling was the young master and Jiang Ran was his sidekick. Back then, they'd all figured Qiao Ling was just messing around.
But now... the possibility of it being just a fling didn't seem so likely anymore, since Jiang Ran was somebody now too.
But then again...
The world really was full of surprises.
The young master had always done whatever he wanted, so there was no point in hiding their relationship.
Come to think of it, if the young master could bring him home back then without anyone stopping him, of course he'd be even bolder now.
School started, and life went back to normal. A top student like Jiang Ran could handle any amount of homework or classes thrown at him.
But Qiao Ling? Not so much.
"I'm just naturally bad at studying. Maybe I was born useless—why make things harder for me?"
The one making things hard for him wasn't Jiang Ran—it was the System itself.
The System said helplessly, "So how exactly did you manage to become human back then?"
"Maybe some great deity took pity on me and gave me a little boost of spiritual energy."
Qiao Ling got a headache just looking at books, but the second he looked away, he was fine. He was helpless and hopeless—there was nothing he could do about it!
The System said helplessly, "No matter what, you have to make yourself stronger! Host, if you stay like this, you're definitely going to suffer in the future!"
Qiao Ling laughed.
The future? He felt like he couldn't even guarantee he'd live to see tomorrow—who had time to think about the future?
"System... do you think if I go back to the heavens, someone might strip me of my powers?"
The System pondered for a moment: "For them, right now you're still useful since you need to gather the Supreme Deity's soul force.
But whether they'll keep you around afterward—
I think that's a decision for the Supreme Deity to make."
Qiao Ling: "..."
He looked at the man beside him, wearing glasses and focused on reading, and shook his head helplessly.
Serving a ruler was like lying beside a tiger!
His life as Qiao Ling was truly miserable!
Not only did he have to eat with him, sleep with him, and study with him—he also had to worry about his life!
